Incredible movie--one of my all-time favorites. This weekend saw 'Bright Star'--beautiful also...Jane Campion is an AMAZING writer/director...she portrays her characters and scenery so beautifully and hauntingly, it nearly hurts to watch...

What is it with this movie? I think if you described the setup to me I'd think "Oh, that's a little precious, isn't it?" But instead it's just strange, and beautiful. Still holds up very well 15 years later.

There were tight ropes around the piano, but when the weight shifted, they decided to toss the piano overboard, which was tied up to tight ropes onto those planks. I think the sheet that she put her foot into to be dragged down into the water, was just a careless line that had snagged itself around one on the plank ends as they went into the drink. I love this movie...
