Midnight in Paris is my third favorite film of 2011, Martha Marcy May Marlene comes 1st, and Melancholia is 2nd. I'm really happy that I saw this film.
My pops dragged me to this movie and i hadn't seen any trailers so i had no idea what to expect, but i really liked this movie. The subject matter is light, and it's done tastefully. This is definitely one of the most solid movies of 2011 imo.

I hated this movie! It's one of the worst movies of the year! I found it pretentious as HELL! It's just Woody Allen going on and on and on AND ON about how much he knows about history. This movie was just him masterbating to shit he likes. And those long takes on the shop owner and the museum tour guide was disgusting! Woody was just staring at them so he can bang 'em later. Yuck! Some of the supporting work was great (Brody and Hemingway were awesome!) but this movie bored the crap outta me.
I like this movie. I really agree with the whole idea of how people always think that things in the past are better than the present, yet we are blinded by how good things are now
@schmoesknow can you watch my reviews i just started reviewing and want to get alot of views and subscribers and comments and become a popular youtube reviewer like you
Marion Cotillard (did I spell that right?) isn't Talia al'Ghul in Dark Knight Rises. Granted, that would've been a great concept, but if she is, then it would be two confusion (already have two villains already).
@captcrais101 Actually, I just remembered that Cillian Murphy is going to reprise his role as Jonathan Crane/ Scarecrow, so there could possibly be... four villains.
i could not get 15 min into this movie before i shut it off. i gave the blu ray disk to my parents. this movie what i saw of it was so brutally dry and what i saw of owen wilson was everything i hate about him had i seen it in theaters i would have demanded my money back
I was watchin this movie like Rachel is sexy as hell in this. My favorite characters were Loki and Kim from Scott Pilgrim. Alison Pill was really good in her parts and the whole movie is just beautiful. Owen Wilson and his nose were perfect for this movie!!
I saw it during the summer and I LOVED it. So wonderful. I also loved the message that your fantasy will never measure up to reality. Life is disappointing at times. You have to accept that and keep going.
Saw this the other day. I really liked it and would watch it again! I just wished Adrian Brody had more than one scene because his character was hilarious!!
Mark! Omg! I love your shirt! Its amazing and for being a Doctor Who fan and a Winnie the pooh fan, your shirt speaks to me on a very joyous level. Please tell me where you got it! Its so awesome! I was like no freaking way! :D its adorable!
Batman and Robin was badass. people don't get it was based off the old tv show not the comic books. at least Joel Schumacher has the balls to put robin in his batman movie unlike the GREAT (not really) Chris Nolan.

Hye, yeah I saw Midnight in paris in late August when I was in Hollywood for a few days (isnt that where you live ellis) I liked it quite a bit but prefer quite a few other Allens (including some of his other recent ones) however id like to see nominations for writing and perhaps for some of the supporting roles.
Want to know something funny? I just got this from Netflix today! Now I'm really excited about seeing this! P.S. I actually went to Paris last June and I ate in the same restaurant that Ernest Hemingway and Jean Paul Sartre ate their lunches at regularly!!!
This was awesome! I'm glad they didn't try to explain how things were happening, and instead focused on the story and theme. Zelda Fitzgerald is my favourite.
i absolutely LOVED this movie, especially the bit with Louis Bunuel, but is anybody else tired of this "Paris is the most beautiful city in the world, cliché cliché" ? i know i am

great review guys! i totally agree! i love this movie and for some reason I really liked Tom Hiddleston this year. Between Thor, War Horse and this, he was great all throughout the year. also, did you guys end up seeing attack the block? i'm interested to see what you guys thought about it.
Yeah, you take Harloff to Vegas, he'll probably go just to sleep in the hotel. I could not believe how much I liked this film. I mean, I didn't love it but for this is to be Woody Allen film and have me like it, that's really saying something. I remember watching this a while ago around 12 am (very appropriate) and feeling tired and I put this film on just to see how far I would get into it and I ended up watching the whole thing. Never thought I'd wanna see this again. Your review changed that.
One of the best parts about this movie was the trailer; it didn't even give the slightest hint as to the movie's actual plot, so the viewer goes into it not expecting anything near what they get. Excellent.
Wow, all I recognized were Doc Brown, Eastwood from Fistful of Dollars, and Yosemite Sam, lol. Anyway, this movie sounds very interesting so I'll definitely check it out. I actually like Owen Wilson, but the movies he's in are usually weak. btw Harloff, I've got family members who like every movie they see too (ex. Transformers 2), lol.
Along with Match Point, the vastly underrated Casandra's Dream and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, this was further proof that Woody Allen, now in his seventies, is enjoying a personal renaissance. Ever notice that the recent films he directed but isn't in are better than those in which he's also an actor? (Scoop) I loved Midnight in Paris. Right below The Tree of Life and Drive, this was one of my favorite films of 2011. Good to see you guys liked it.
i'm happy you guys reviewed this! Its my favourite film of the year..not the best film, i can admit it, but it struck a chord with me as i could completely relate to the character and his obsession with a different time period

It creates a really comfortable mood and somehow made me constantly smile.
I love Woody Allen but this wasn't one of his best. Whenever he writes the "Woody Allen character" and then doesn't play it himself, it just never works for me. As good as Wilson was, he just can't sell those lines like Allen. Which is why I think his most successful films in the last 10 years (Match Point, Vicky Cristina Barcelona & Cassandra's Dream) work so well. There's no "Woody Allen character."
