Great place to visit, will go back again. Hope to head by to France next month and do some of the WWI battlefields. Great experience , hope you get a chance to see some of them.
That was the 65th anniversity of the Normanday invasion. We attended the 60th in 2005 and were there in 2002. Every trip over I make time to visit the Normandy beachheads. Been visiting battlefields for about 15 years, did Battle of the Buldge and was on Iwo Jima for the 60th anniversity in 2005. Band of brothers was filmed in the UK. Carentan and the other towns were the same set just altered by UK special effects. Also Saving Private Ryan was filmed at same place and just to let you know it is a true story based on a UK soldiers brothers and not American.
Carentan is not where easy co. destoryed the gun emplacements. Thats Brecourt Manor. Carentan is where they faced a week long battle against Cnl Von der Heydte's 6th Parachute Regt. (Fallschirmjaeger)
No problem mate. Your very lucky to go to Normandy at that time of year. Ive been going there for the past seven yrs but never during the celebrations. Looks very busy lol
Wow, Iwo Jima, i didnt even know they had such celebrations. I'm definately making the 70th although i'd be heading as a member of our club as one of the Fallschirmjaeger re-enactors (Germans arn't very popular with the french)

That was my 3rd time, made the 60th, then flew to Iwo Jima on March 12th, 2005 for that 60th. Hopfully I will be around for the 70th.

Nice video mate but Carentan is NOT where Easy destroyed the gun emplacements,thats at Brecourt Manor approximately 10 km to the North
