This is simply marvelous, I've listened to many of Mozart's 12 variations from all over, Carnegie Hall included. But this boy, makes me smile as I listen to it. You see the passion in his notes, as he sways with his own beat. It shows he isn't playing the notes from his brain, but from his heart instead. It's truly wonderful to see.
I love the variations that Mozart did for: Ah vous dirai-je maman, shows all your genealogical as a composer. His interpretation was breathtaking, congratulations.
That was not an arrangement. That was the original version of 12 variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" written by Mozart, in which the theme was based on a French folk-song of the same title. It was someone who used the theme and turned it into a nursery rhyme, twinkle twinkle little stars, then someone else reused it for ABCDEFG, then another used it for Baa Baa Black Sheep.
ofc u already know it but you play amazingly beautiful, my mums a piano teacher and i regret not sitting down with her and learning how to play especially when i watch this vid now im too old too :( but im sure this inspires many people to start :)
This what George Li did in his previous life. Still, an extremely talented musician and Child prodigy, improved from that past life period . But don't ask me who he was in his previous life.
i think george li will be a fine pianist. however kissin in his age was regarded much more talented as he is now. i doubt he will be the next richter or horowitz. there are just so many good pianists on youtube but no geniuses =(
@ltran90 Golly - George is only 11 years old in this video....and even then, he was approaching world class....hmmmm....I sure hope he doesn't become the next Horowitz - he's electrifying and nonpareil as George Li. If this is not genius, then perhaps there is no such thing.
@JiSO1 - When you do music at this level, it is so much a part of you and inside you that it's like talking. I used to play guitar professionally. There are a few thousand pieces on music in my head, that I can hear anytime simply by thinking them. One fun thing was to memorize all the different parts of each instrument used in Eine Kleine Nachtmusik so I could hear the whole thing, or any part, in my head, any time. Not everyone can do it, but performance-level musicians need this skill.
you can immediately tell by the way he thinks about the song and mentally prepares before that he is a performer and that he has been trained to do so. wonderful technique. so precise.
Wow George, congratulations; a remarkable young man with a bright future. Hope you continue to enjoy your music. Alison Jane How. B. Mus.Ed,University of Melbourne.
I'm a year late in commenting in this video that you shared Pianoloverok.. though isn't it that the title of this piece is "The 12 Variations of Mozart?" lol!

@WilltheTowelie Yeah, that's the name of the tune that was used as basis, but it still varies from the original French melody due to the various playing styles and tempos :)
OMG! Geroge li is an amazing piano player. Just watch his hands run back and forth on the keyboard. his hands looks like a rubber band. This song is so long and he memorized it. His articulations are amazing.
Excellent work, very good phrasing and control! Even though his wrists are a little floppy now (2007?), he'll soon grow out of that. He could certainly have a career in this if he wanted.
Possibly the best ... and certainly the freshest ... interpretation of this old classic that I've ever heard. Magnificent playing .... technically breathtaking and with an emotional range usually not found in one so young. Beautiful!
@darpop220 oh wow, I'm so glad you made such a great non-existent discovery. If he's not playing then who is? Care to enlighten me with these certain areas of interest?

this song really isn't that difficult it just sounds very impressive. The arpeggios are quites simple really, nothing compared to chopin's ocean etude or nocturne in c# minor... Both are amazing pieces of art. This kid is still pretty darn good though, i must say, especially for a 7 year old kid.
