It must have been a bad batch or something, because I had one that done the same thing. Except i took it back to a shop I bought it from (Woolworths) and they exchanged the games and the console. Ever since then it never happened again.

@Makkapakka3Media i have windows 7 ultimate. Grid performs great but every loadind screen it stops responding and on a replay of a game i recorded it with osd gamer and i got blue screen of death. Crisis performs good but crashes at one point in the last level. cod 1 and 2 used to work now they have stoped. but all of these games are cd's so they might not do that if i had brought them through steam what i will do in the future because all of my steam games work :)

You wouldnt turn a computer on its side with a disc still in the dvd driver would you? Also the reason the PS3 (or wii for that matter) dont do this is because they have a slot loading driver and not tray.

From my own experience: I might have moved around a Gamecube while it was running before. Maybe not, but I certainly subject my consoles to a lot of force, and every one of them is running fine as the day I bought them. And trust me, I have a lot of consoles.
I know it this is Microsoft's fault, but I just wanted to let you know that you can send any optical disc (DVDs, game discs, Blu-Rays...even small Gamecube discs) away to be repaired for a lot less than buying a new game. Several online companies do the repairs. They send you a special envelope, you pay them then send the disc away and they 'buff' the scratch out with a special machine and return it looking almost like new. Some game stores will do it for you too. Cost £4 to £5 including P&P.

there's a wooden flooring in the house of one family, so it's clearly their fault because vibrations through wooden flooring are alot stronger.
I mean seriously, if you pay £300 for a console you have to aprpeciate how sensitive it is and something like a fly landing on it could break it.
My suggestion is that you should wrap up your xbox in cotton wool and suspend it in a room with zero gravity to avoid this problem.
Otherwise it is your fault.

No one is gonna turn off their system or take their disc out just to stand up their system. It's bullshit that for something like that you lose 70 bucks. You won't do it again but the system shouldn't be like that in the 1st place. PS3 doesn't do that at all!

@IceKoldKilla1992 The console is NOT made to be moved when the console is on. Anyone with half a brain should know that. Microsoft say it enough in the warnings and manuals. You wouldnt turn a computer on its side with a disc still in the dvd driver would you? Also the reason the PS3 (or wii for that matter) dont do this is because they have a slot loading driver and not tray.

@jasa00 that's nice, does the manual explain thigns like.. you can't have the xbox placed on a wooden floor because it is more sensitive to vibrations which can and have caused the cd's to be ruined? or.. you should avoid buying garage band because the drum vibrations can ruin the cd? I think you'll find under the goods act of 1979 and the fact that the xbox is poorly designed with a cheap and shoddy dvd disc tray, you probably -can- sue them..

From my own experience: I might have moved around a Gamecube while it was running before. Maybe not, but I certainly subject my consoles to a lot of force, and every one of them is running fine as the day I bought them. And trust me, I have a lot of consoles.

I know it this is Microsoft's fault, but I just wanted to let you know that you can send any optical disc (DVDs, game discs, Blu-Rays...even small Gamecube discs) away to be repaired for a lot less than buying a new game. Several online companies do the repairs. They send you a special envelope, you pay them then send the disc away and they 'buff' the scratch out with a special machine and return it looking almost like new. Some game stores will do it for you too. Cost £4 to £5 including P&P.
