ok this is what ive heard 2 things to the story

i have played the first one and done both light and dark endings so here is what i think

1: he is dead from saving his friends and darth vader cloned him (dont know if its once or more) and now the clone is trying to find out who he is like the real apprentice

2:the game is suppose to be about when he choses to be the darkside(im thinking this one is not it tho)

can someone tell me what they think?

It's DEFINITLY your first guess. Watch the other Force Unleashed 2 Videos, I uploaded and you will see Starkiller fight on Kamino, where he's been cloned.

Aside of that, it cannot be the Dark-SIde-Starkiller, because he's been modified in the end of TFU.
