I love martys solo work and i love that hes having fun, even envy him. Hes huge in japan, But his shows aren't nearly as big now as they used to be when he was with Megadeth. It's kind of sad to see that. But I guess every great musician rises and falls.
little known fact: dimebag almost joined megadeth but he insisted on his brother coming with him and Megadeth had already chosen Nick Mensa so they had to balk
@MrDcmetal666 Iron Maiden played a major role in the resurgence with Brave New World and the reunion of the "classic" lineup in 1999. Sure, Slayer played a part in it too, but Iron Maiden started the revival.
@nomadic30 Not exactly, famous metal bands were the ones who went downhill at the late 90's. but for example, Judas Priest still released some really good material with Ripper Owens, and some bands, especially Power Metal bands like Helloween or Gamma Ray were at their peak with albums like Better than Raw or Powerplant, and also, there's Death, which released what probably are some of the best albums in the history of the genre
@AMbassndrums Yeah, you're right. I kind of put both drummers on the same level but for different reasons I guess. Nick was ferocious, but Jimmy did a great job stepping into the role and was a tight player.
To be honest, my comment was more of a dig at the current line-up, which I think is weak sauce. Basically a Megadeth cover band now...
@TheWitchOvAgnesi yea jimmy did do good.. and u hav a great point when u say its a cover band...chris and shawn are good but theyll never be poland, samuelson, freeman, menza, pitrelli really any of them
@AMbassndrums Yeah, I'm not knocking their skill, they wouldn't have gotten the job if they were incompetent, but none of them wrote the original stuff.

You wanna know something? You are absolutely right, Iron Maiden, almost ALL Of their music does sound the same, it's all just, the same stuff. and why is that? because all their stuff KICKS ASS! And whats so wrong about being excited about a good band? have some respect for ONE of the greatest metal bands out there ya wanker.
@sf987photo yes...iron maiden is one of the best band of heavy metal...but,some fans believe maiden is the ONLY band,,and haven't respect for other some bands, and more old's...how judas priest, scorpions, black rose, diamond head..
alright, that I'll agree with you. I consider Maiden as one of my favorite bands, but when it comes to i suppose, recognition for being the greatest, I suppose thats all about opinions to be honest, but I agree. Some people believe Maiden IS the only good metal band out there, which is untrue. Definitely legendary, but just as much as Judas Priest, and many others you've listed. so argument, BOOM. resolved :P
@jfkdjfd Crowd would've gone freaking crazy, if Pantera was at woodstock 99'. Whole crowd would into one huge mosh pit. Seen that happend once it was amazing.
@thrashwillwin Maybe not, but I've heard his original stuff with Megadeth, especially his solos, and he generally plays the same stuff: insanely technical and fast arpeggios and/or sweep-picked sections played in rapid succession. Like I said, he's got amazing skill, but he doesn't seem to cut loose at all.
@thrashwillwin Chris has lots of technical skill, definitely more than Marty, but he plays the same exact solos every time - he sticks to the script 100% of the time and doesn't improvise or change things up in the slightest. So he might not make mistakes, but neither does a robot. He's talented in a technical sense, but he doesn't seem very creative. That's probably why so many people say he plays like a robot.
@MrJosu2012 yeah i totally know what you mean. '69 was a bunch stoned hippies at peace with the world, yet '99 was teenagers looking for an outlit. There were fires, rapes, and lots of other bad things that happened in 99. But the reason i said that i liked '99 was because there was lots of good bands! :)
@nomadic30 What ? Every single band that came on stage had a blast, and it was a pretty good time for music if you ask me. Just look at KoRn woodstock 99, they tore the place up.
@w0y1z92753 im sorry to burst your bubble but Mustaine wrote the majority of Metallicas songs and bascially got them to the "spotlight" but the Hammet came in and used his ideas as well as Metallica ripping from a lot of Mustaines stuff after he was kicked. But personally i think Metallica is dying out their music sounds nothing like it use to and Megadeth is suprisingly still going strong (no where near like they use to though) but yeah im glad that he was kicked too but only to form Megadeth.

@w0y1z92753 Well why come to a Megadeth video anyway? And I have to admit this performance aint pretty good imo. But you should check out older performances of Megadeth. And come on I like Metallica but Metallica is sellout piece of shit these days. Lars is shitty drummer, Hetfield is annoying, Hammet is really unoriginal and Trujillo is ok. If you seriously are saying that Metallicas new albums are good you are not a metalhead.
man the sound is terrible nothing wrong with the vid it just sounds like the sound system is really half assed Megadeth did the best with what seemed like a shitty venue and given how it ended well i'm just glad they got out of there in one piece
Why couldnt Mustaine just use THAT Jackson throughout the whole woodstock show. AFter this song he used a Jackson Y2KV (gibson flying V copy basically) and it was UGLY compared to that guitar!
@MegaMave come on man..are you seriously gonna say chris doesnt play it cleaner and better than this douche does..and everyone keeps telling me his name, i know who he is, i aint talking out of my ass
@pifa4life Chris plays with zero feeling. It's like you're listening to a robot play. He's a very accomplished player and can shred the shit out of a guitar, but he's no Marty Friedman. No one sounds like Marty. You can instantly recognize Marty's playing.
@MegaMave Marty is an ass hole. Read Mustaine's autobiography and you'll understand why so many people dis him. Plus, if you've listened to his solo band cover of tornado of souls, you might have 0 respect left for him.

dave was kicked out befor kill em all was recorded its kirk playing on the album, they kicked him out cause he was a dick and a crackhead then he created megadeth with dave ellifson and i think thats the best thing to ever happen to metal, but the bottom line is they are both awesome, yes kirk hammet us extremley overrated as a guitarist but metallica as a whole is still awesome, im sure kirk has some creative imput in thier songwriting
@TodayAt420 he was an alcoholic not a crack head...and he worte alot of the songs on kill em all....but im not meaning anything bad by that...i love both bands
when was dave in metallica? was it before they put out a major label album? i can only remember hetfield on any of metallica's songs. then again i am not a die-hard metallica fan so idk someone help me!!!
When Metallica fired Mustaine he created Megadeth... he was the second soloist guitarrist in Metallica (the first one was a black dude, I didn't remember his name), then Metallica called Hammett and he joined the band
anybody else find it funny that at woodstock, a historcial peace festival, megadeth was the last band to play, they started the set with holy wars and ended it with peace sells but whose buying, 2 yrs b4 9/11
@mustainemademedoit but their experience in Ireland was what inspired Dave to write the song. There's a Guitar Center clinic that was filmed where he talks about it.
i was a 16 yr. old metallica fan from hell in 1999 but 2 short month's after this show was over my buddy brought over this album & 4 the last 11 yrs. i've listened to this band religously at least every other day & in 2004 got to meet dave mustaine at a hole in the wall in ft.wayne in.!! i know every word to every song by heart & megadeth 2 me is the still beating heart of thrash!!! long live dave & ellefson 4 they r metal god's!!
Who gives a fuck about Marty's haircut,he is guitar god

When Metallica fired Mustaine he created Megadeth... he was the second soloist guitarrist in Metallica (the first one was a black dude, I didn't remember his name), then Metallica called Hammett and he joined the band
Everybody knows it man...

ulizinho 1 year ago
@ulizinho The first half is about the holy wars in the middle east. and the second half is about the punisher
mustainemademedoit 1 year ago
@mustainemademedoit
Nah, the Holy Wars is about their experience in Ireland.
netzainal 1 year ago
@netzainal It says Israel right in the song...
mustainemademedoit 1 year ago
@mustainemademedoit Nah mate it's when they went to England
xfghkhjfsejid 1 year ago
@mustainemademedoit but their experience in Ireland was what inspired Dave to write the song. There's a Guitar Center clinic that was filmed where he talks about it.

The NU Metal crowd was awed by the Friedmand/Mustaine guitar solos!

Even though Chris Broderick is a monster on guitar, I wish Marty would stop being a tool in Japan and come back

No wonder why there were riots at this event. Megadeth melted the crowd's faces and everyone went ape shit afterwards!

Marty looks like an alien. Ellefson looks like the father of a really hot 17 year old chick.
