• wow i really wish this was in the movie

    i love it so much

    its so great

  • this is so beautiful.

    goosebumps, every single time.

  • i cried.

  • i luv mimi dey should hav put dis in the movie

  • Roger is awesome

  • This is my favorite song out of all of them. It saddens me to know it was not put in the movie.

  • es la mejor cancion pero pudieron actuar mejor.

  • i first heard this when i saw RENT on broadway & it gave me chills<3 i love it! i wish they put this in the actual movie /=

  • I love this song and the whole movie. I can't believe they cut the song out of the movie, it's one of the best. It gives me goosebumps too! The first time I saw the movie I cried. GRRR I can't believe it, this song should be in the movie its soooooo good! Grrrrrrrrrr stupid people.

  • favorite songgg

  • CANT BELIEVE THEY CUT THIS SONG! BY FAR THE BEST SONG OF THE WHOLE MUSICAL.

Such passion between the two characters.

  • This song gives me goosebumps. Every time.

  • I love this song but I hate the "hello disease" part.

  • best song ever!!

  • i want to see everything

  • why would they cut the best song?? soo good luvv it

  • i LOVE this song! why didn't they keep it in the movie?! they should have! made me cry...

  • I LUV this part!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! AND THIS MOVIE. i hate that this isnt in the movie! and i love the other ending

  • omg they really should have kept that in the movie!

  • this is the BEST song from Rent! i really wished they put it in the movie! i find the part where Mimi first says "I just came to say goodbye love" at like 2:17 to be so sad. cuz i think Roger finally realizes that she's is dieing (but she doesnt so yay!). aww man! i love this movie!!

  • why did they cut it!! i was almost bawling at the end...though i was bawling in the movie when angel died...wah

  • I wish they would of kept this song.

  • i just fell in love with this song yesterday and i know all of the words already!

  • SOOO SAD

  • listen to the director's commentary on the film. They took this scene out because it was the only time that Roger and Mark sang together in the movie, so the sudden musical conversation was slightly confusing. Also, they were afraid if they put too much emotion too early the ending would lose some of its intensity.

I love this song, too. It's really useful to understanding the story. But if you really want to understand it, buy (or rent or borrow)the original broadway soundtrack. Or go c it!

  • WHYYY DID THY PUT THIS OUT OF THE MOVIE !!! WHYYYYY

    T_T

    i love this song

  • it does help much more in understanding the script.

  • "Please dont touch me understand im scared i need to go away" the sadest lyric in the whole film. i love this song its so amasing.

  • Wow he is actually a genious.

  • I haven't watched the whole movie, but I have the album because my sister's crazy about it. I kept looking here on youtube to find this and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't here. =P

I adore this song, and this would have been amazing in the movie. The intensity is epic.

  • when i saw this on broadway it made me cry so much..this is the most touching part of the show

  • i cant beleive they took this out. it makes me cry evry time i watch it. its the most beautiful song. sad tho... =[

  • they should have not taken this out!!!! its so sad but so important to the story!!

  • why'd they take this out?

  • Rosario portrays Mimi so beautifully

I think she's better than Daphne

    Rosario IS Mimi

  • i agree with you!

  • I wish they didn't cut this out. But i know why they did it. Well i think they said something about it being 2 sad after angel's death and everything. They also took out HALLOWEEN which i am SO mad about because it would of been good in the movie. But i think it's the same reason of goodbye love part 2. Halloween was just 2 sad to keep in this movie. But still THE MOVIE WAS COMPLETLY AWSOME.... And I like the MIMI in this movie also. But the Joane is a bit better(This is just what i think)

  • omfg they need to remake this movie and put this song in it. this was my fav song in the broadway version and i didnt know that treid this with the movie. ahhhhh why did they take this out????

  • OMFG whyd they take this song out.

    Theres so much meaning.

    Most intense part.

    and my favorite =]

    thanks for postingg =]

  • ok i am obsessed w this song this has sooo much power and feeling!!

  • they shoulda kept this but then again it would have ruined the next song which is what you own this is sooooo saddd but good

  • Its sad..... But I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i wish they would've kept this in the movie!

  • Onr of my favourites :(

  • danm i loved this part....i had the song n it always made me sad...

  • God. When Roger is lecturing Mark about his work, that hits me SO hard.

  • Either way this makes me cryyy :[

    My favorite song too.

They definitely shouldn't have cut it.

  • does any1 know how i can c a version of the movie wit all the extra stuff in it?

  • It's soo sad in the end when she sings "Goodbye love, hello disease."

  • This is one of the parts that makes me cry, like the alternate ending. I think they should have left the entire graveyard scene in, along with the "you bit my tongue" line from Maureen. Heck, I think they should have left the entire script in, but then it would be R and I wouldn't be allowed to watch it.....

  • what would make it rated R?

Sorry, I lost my DVD for this movie ):

  • Look up a RENT script online. A lot of it -- especially the song "Contact" are part of why the play -- but not the movie -- is rated R. In the commentary of the movie, they talk a lot about the things they did to keep it PG-13.

  • I saw the play back in 2007, I forgot most of it.

  • You're right! I think exactly like you! This scene is one of the best!

  • what take the sadness out of angels death? this brings the sadness in

  • I love this song, and I can't believe they cut this part from the movie. But I think Roger could have been a tad more animated, "Mark has his work, Mark lives his work, Mark's in love with his work," he could gesture with his hands or something. But still, its such a good scene...

  • I don,t think that more gesture should be a good idea. For me, this could be overacted like this, without too much, like he did, I think that the emotion is more true...

  • ive seen this on stage.

    its amazing!

    :D

i love watching deleted scenes from films!

    :D

coz if the film is on stage

ive already seen the deleted scenes! :D

    xx

  • wow...okay wow...i am balling right now...maybe going thru a breakup so this song made me really cry :(

  • really love this songs

  • oh gosh i love this one. I really wish they put this in the movie. I always watch it.

  • does she call benny baby or does she say maybe when they mention the rehab

  • Maybe.

  • thanks

  • I love this version of the song. I wish they would have added in the movie. Glad they gave the deleated scene to us.

  • does she say goodbye love hello dissyness or sumthing?

  • Hello Disease

  • just came to say goodbye love good bye love just came to say goodbye love goodbye. those lines are so powerfull in this scene, especially the way Rosario sings them!

  • please dont touch me understand i need to go away, i know a place, a clinic. a rehab? baby could you? i'll pay. i love these lines!!!!

    THE MOST AMZINGEST SONG EVER!!!

  • its Maybe not baby

  • why would they take this out of the movie?

    i love this!

it halps me know why hes so mad cuz he got yelled at

and like they actually said goodbye.

    urg! haha

  • I know. Without this, the end of "What You Own" lacks context.

  • the directors thought this song would take all the sadnes out of Angels death, at least that's what I heard.

  • the directors thought this song would take all the sadnes out of Angels death, at least that's what I heard.

  • i LOVE this song i wish it would have made it in to the movie :(

  • I was devastated when I realized they took this out, I thought it was a poor choice on Columbus' part. In the commentary he says this was too much emotion for the film. I think this was pivatol, without this scene I think you lose Mark's side of the story, or Jonathon's of being the "one of [them] to survive" and you also see that Mimi is giving in to the disease, because her last wish of love has been bashed, by Roger who fears runs away from a dying Mimi. I love this song, by far my fave.

  • Yes I think it wasnt a smart move. By far this was one of my fav. scenes. When I listend to the commentary I was like "What??"

  • yea i totally agree... i mean... i love this song... and the scene. I didnät even know this existed until i heard the song!

  • My teacher let us listen to this in Drama. I love it and we have to pick any song from a musical and I don't know which one. So far, I like 'Rent' and I don't know which song is the best. Please help me! Not too much vocals, please cuz we have to sing it and I'm not soo good.

  • This is my favorite song it should have been in the movie. :3 I love Mark.

  • if u watch the commentary they didnt put it in because they thought it would be awkard because its like the only time in the movie that roger and mark would have been singing to eachother so the directors didnt think it seemed right

  • "His his death IS in vain!"

  • makes me wanna cry that they're closing it on broadway...

"I'd be happy to die for a taste of what Angel had" and "You don't want baggage without life-time guarantee...you don't want to watch me die." touched me the most in this song.

  • oh the don't want to watch me die part is my favorite. :(

  • one of the best songs if not thebest in the entire broadway. i love rent.

  • i still dont understand why they didnt put this in the movie. its the best song.

  • "Goodbye Love, goodbye love! Came to say, goodbye love, goodbye. Just came to say, goodbye love! GoodBYE love!!!!! Goodbye love, hello, disease."

This is the best song and scene in the entire movie! I understand why they cut it, but I wish they hadn't. I LOVE it!

  • what disease does mimi have?

  • Mimi has aids

  • RENT ROCKS!!!

  • they made THIS a deleted seen.....WHAT RETARDS!!!

  • They had a good reason for it... the movie was too long as it is, and the producers felt that the song didn't fit well with the rest of the movie, since it was the only time in the whole movie that Mark and Roger sang to each other as opposed to just at the same time or with each other.

  • Ya but still its one of the best songs i coudve made it fit in there perfectly

  • Maybe you should have directed it instead of Chris Columbus then! :)

  • Lol i wish that would be AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song. its sad but its amazing

  • This song breaks my heart in the best possible way.

  • thats so sad, i have NO idea why they would have taken it from the movie!

  • They said they got cut it out because the first part of Goodbye love and I should tell you was so emotional enough. They thought that they'll be going over the top. They meaning the producers and directors.

  • Also because it was the only song in the movie where Mark and Roger sang to each other; they felt it was awkward in relation to the rest of the movie.

  • This scene's incredible.

I love the effect of her face in the shade during 'diseaaaase,' she actually looks like she's decaying!

    Thanks for uploading it :)

  • coolness! I luv rent!!!

  • I dont like this version, the Broadway version is SO much better and way more emotional. If I saw it in the movies I would have cried b/c they ruined such a beautiful song. They also took out "Halloween" another great song.

  • i <333 when roger says marks in love with his work!!

  • at 2:41, marks face just creeps me out. in a good way tho, he looks so scared for Mimi and it just gives the scene a darker better vibe and it just gives me the creeps. i love it! i cry, everytime...

  • Am I bad that I crack up everytime when the guy says; "Poor Baby!"

  • I understand why they took this out about it being more emotional than the finale (which it is) but it's a shame because it's such a fantastic scene! It's my favourite by far! LOVE IT! Xxx

  • OMG it makes me cry everytime lol

  • dont worry i feel the same way[=

  • i am in love with adam pascal im not even kidding i am absoulutly in love with him. i am absoulutly convinced that hell find me one day and marry me... i know crazy right?? its an abnormal obsession call me crazy...

  • he's married and has kids.

  • loving that clip, is that on a special DVD edition? can't find it :(

love this whole gosh darn movie!!!!

  • THIS IS SOOO BEAUTIFUL <3

    I LOVE IT

  • i luv the looks on all of their faces! this scene was done with A LOT of emotion especially by mimi roger ok all 3 of them!!!!

  • god these people have anger issues....DAMN U FOR TAKING OUT THIS SCENE!!!!

    i ♥ this song!!!!

    or this part anyway

  • ♫ they say mark has got his work

and mark lives for his work and mark's in love with his work ♫

    i ♥ tht part =]

  • I LOVE THIS SCENE!

    it sucks that they didn't put it in );

everything about it is just perfect.

i love all their voices. ohmy.

im gona go watch this again haha!

  • the director took it out because it was more emotional than the finale

  • i know.

  • i love her voice.

i hate how they got rid of this scene.

    damn them.

  • seriously! its the best song in the play, and they didn't do it!!

  • DOES ANYONE HAVE THE MP3 FOR THIS SONG???

    i can't find it anywhere!!

  • Have you tried the OBC CD?

  • I ADORE Roasario's voice. I really do. And this scene is just...God, its amazing. And just the little things make me happy: I love how Chris chose it to be really dark and there's this shadow on Rosario's face, the makeup is just awesome, and at the end? That look, that utterly SICK, DYING look just is so convincing and she's just amazing!

Adam, Anthony and Taye are just fabulous in this scene too. :]

  • Please don't touch me; understand im scared. I need to go away...

Just the way she says that line always gives me chills. I love this song

  • Why, oh why, did they take this scene out?

  • Chris said that he didn't want emotional overload.. but this one's my favourite..

  • i love mimi's voice.

  • Isn't Rosario Dawson just wonderful?

    ^_^

  • daaaaaaaaaaamn, i love roger!

but he was so mean to mark. =[

    love this scene...

this is the best movie/musical...EVER! :D

  • ...Wow...This is like the best song on the soundtrack..I have been listening to it for the last 2 days....

  • their voices are so amazing i think. i love everything about this song!

  • why did they have to take out the low blows. "for someone who's always getting let down, who's leaving town" i love that line.

  • For someone who longs for a community of his own, who's with his camera...alone...

    I love this stuff...^_^

  • i agree!!!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SCENE!

  • this should have never been deleted...I got mad at roger too, but mimi is like deja vu for him. I'm glad he came to his senses and his true love didn't die!!! What a fantastic ending and a lesson learned, tell the one you love exactly how you truly feel:)

  • WHY DID THEY DELETE THIS?!? *sobsob*

this is like my favorite part!

  • This is my favorite deleated scene from the movie.

  • can you post the whole movie? please

  • You'll probably have to RENT it. Hah. Get it? Anyway, this scene ain't in the movie, anyway. It's in the Special Features section under "Deleted Scenes." Sux, don't it?

  • yeah! it's such a great scene...made me cry snif snif :'(

  • i luv him and all but Roger is being a BITCH!

  • I wish they hadn't cut this out.

  • they totally should have put this is the movie movie

    i love this song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • totally should have kept it

  • i kinda figured dat out

  • aww mark does care much about mimi more then roger does at this moment.. but r mimi and mark close friends? they dont seem 2 be or even speak 2 each other in da movie except this song or scene when mark says mimis running outta time and ure running out da door it givs me chills and when mim runs down 2 her apartmnt she looks soooo pale at the end of this scene

  • they aren't friends. the only ones who know each other in the beginning are mark, roger, benny, muffy/allison (we dont meet her), collins, and maureen. mimi and joanne come into play later

  • yeah, bennys wife name isn't muffy...it's allison.

  • i wish that this song was in the movie.

its soo sad. its my ringtone& i listen to it anytime im sad.

  • at least Mark is sane - he's pleading her case, looking out for her. What a nice guy...

  • he's so damn angry! Mimi loves him and he loves her so he'd rather cast her out and leave than stick by in her time of need -how does she feel?!

  • this is too, my favourite song in the musical... makes me cried whenever I heard it

  • They cut out the best part. Low blows on both Mark and Roger's parts...."For someone who always gets let down, who's heading out of town?"

"For someone who longs for a community of his own, who's with his camera- alone?"

  • i hate how mean roger is...

    i mean i know he's hurting but i mean...

    mark's been there for him

  • Mimi and Roger are both sick, but Mimi seems more fragile. Roger doesn't seem like he'll die anytime soon

  • Well you have to remember, Mimi in the movie is still a heroin addict, while Roger had stopped a while ago.

He still has aids, sp yeah he's dying, but Mimi looks more raggad and cadaverous because she is still using and is having a lot of issues.

  • i think baggage means AIDS

  • I think it means like a lover?

  • no, baggage means like, trouble or problems. like emotional baggage.

  • sorry 2 more things i want to say. 1. roger looks hot in this scene! 2. can someone please tell me what baggage means?

  • baggage generally means extra stuff. so here it means Mimi's vices like her drug usage and AIDS.

  • mmm. that song makes me cry! it didnt when i heard it on the sountrack, i mean it made me sad but actully seeing it is wors. im crying right now!

  • k im a little slow:P

what do they mean when they say "baggage"

  • I'm assuming that it has to do with AIDS. Mimi, Roger, Angel, and Collins, as I hear from the play and movie, has 'baggage'.

  • does roger have aids?

  • "Zoom in on my empty wallet."

    "Touche. Take your AZT."

A scene from Rent. This is the only quote you'll need to confirm that Roger has AIDS.

  • i dont think he has aids, he never showed any sighs, although his life was devistated by aids indirectly the whole empty wallet comment was just him saying hes broke.

  • He's definitely HIV positive. We know that for sure. I don't think we're told if he has AIDS yet.
