From an early age, Paul (that's his real name, Ed was just a stage name) wanted to act. He shunned the carefree life of a horse for the smell of the crowd and the roar of the greasepaint.

In point of fact, when he was the subject of 'This is Your Life' he is quoted as saying "can't stand peanut butter, give me jello anytime".
