The term "Bride of Christ" has it roots in the Roman Catholic Church. You probably know the clergy or priests of the Roman Catholic Church "marries" their church, taking a oath to celebacy. As a result, the term "Bride of Christ" was eventually coined in relation to this practice. Today, this concept and terminology has spilled over into our own fundamental Christian doctrines.
The "bride of Christ" doctrine isnt secondary issue in Christianity. It is a primary issue. This teaching causes us to do works to become "without spot or wrinkle". Christianity becomes just like all the rest of the religions of the world. A religion of works and not founded in God's grace. The "Bride of Christ" teaching takes away from us God's grace and gift of righteousness. It´s all about works. The Galations were all about works. What did Paul call those Galations? He called them fools.
So many people have heard this repeated enough that they believe it to be scriptural. It just goes to show how few that call themselves by His name are not feeding on His word. "Bridal Theology is found nowhere is Scripture. It is a false teaching that has its roots in the Roman Church as far back as the third-century A.D." ---> thought for the day!
exactly wow you understand. how can we God's people play two roles in the parable of the wedding banquet it makes no sense. Jesus(God) perfectly explained which characters were in the parable of the wedding banquet!! Matthew 9:14, Mark 2:19, and
Luke 5:34. Jesus said he was the bridegroom and his disciples (God's people's, guests) are the guests.( as stated in the description) How can God's people play two rules in the wedding banquet. People justify this argument with Ephesians 5:22--27
@cypress101Rev 21:9-10, Gal 4:25 but the Jerusalem that is above is free and she is our mother! some say its a physical church coming down to God's people. so Rev 22:17. but what did Jesus say we (Gods people are temples) John 2:18-21 1 Corinthian 3:16-17; 1 Corin 6:19-20
Christ is not going to marry His own body!
