1 ms = 1 millisecond this means it will take 1ms for a pixel on the screen to go from black to white and back to black. 5ms is a longer period of time, so it would take longer for the pixel to go black to white and black again. Faster is better :)

Contract ratio, 1000:1, 8000:1, etc... Is the difference in brightness from black to white. So a higher contract ratio would give move vivid blacks and whites. Though this is hard to measure and shouldn't count for everything in a monitor.

Also the stand sucks... It DOESNT tilt.. It doesnt rotate.. Its just static stand with wobbly build...

Wow, what a commercial... One of my LCD's is this one and I love it. Is it vivid? Yes. Nice colors? Aha. But there is so much crap in this review. Tilting? Getoutta here. It can't move to vertical position, it can't tilt left-right and it only tilts minimal up-down. You can't move it higher or lower, just around its axis. The contrast ratio is great, but 3000:1 is a lie, that's dynamic ratio. Its view angle is great (better than some of the 170/170 models) and this hasn't been even mentioned.

this monitor sux. number 1 reason y is that the 226bw has 4 panel manufactorers CMO au optronics samsung and this cmp or some really poor quality brand... 97% of the 226bw monitors panels are CMO which have a huge blue dominance meaning to lvl the colors back u need to lower g50 r50 b50 to g31 r50 b6 to get the normal color. however this makes u lose true color resulting it a lot more saturated monitor

The best monitor I've ever owned! Contrast, Pic quality, and really vivid blacks. I bought 2 and quickly saw I needed only one for my applications so I had to just re-box it and throw it up on E-bay today (sob). I would have kept both, but the wife thinks I'm crazy. Oh well.

New LCD-s have incredible picture, but I hate ghosting, so I want be buying one in a near future. I have 17" LG720p CRT, and I am more than satisfied. It has a sharp picture, max resolution of 19xx x 1600, and I never have headiques and it has much better picture than other CRT-s, so I will wait till LCD 0,2ms :D
