  • Another beautiful day in the north pacific!

  • Great videos! Good for teaching how does it feel to be in a storm. Do you have any more coming? Do you have any in which you teach how to rig a manage does sails? It would be a good help to see that in action. Anyway, good videos and keep it coming!

  • It's crazy to be out there in such condition... what you need is a pilot house, who wants to drive in the rain with you convertable top down anyway.

  • I would say that if you brought begginers there you yourself are a begginer...

  • @pmsp the sea conditions are not too rough, and it is important that anyone learning to sail is shown how to handle less than perfect 10-15knt conditions. Knowing that the boat you are on can handle 35-40kts is important, and being shown how to do that without freaking out is even more important.

Moreover, there is no mention that the captain went looking for rough weather, but they may have been caught in it.

To all others who pass judgement: Go back to your armchairs!

  • My word, and here I am, trying to get up the nerve to go back to San Francisco Bay and sail that 36'. I'd hate to be out THERE!

  • Man, I'll bet it was nice and freezing cold for those guys out there!

  • That is awesome!

  • Looks like fun, mate! Wish that I was there.

  • Camera guy or gal must be a proud member of the Foredeck Union!

  • LOL :-) No, I was just the skipper of a Navy yacht.

  • That must be a good ship, the way she sails.

If you got confidence to ride the gusts without getting nervous everything's hunky-dory.

I don't mind wet windows but it's the cleaning up under deck afterwards that bothers me ;)

"Rough" sailing is so much better than cruising a calm sea with a tame breeze from behind.

  • Thanks for your comment. We had eight crew of which six were able to helm in this, even the beginners. The boat (Chico 40) is well catered. peanut slabs and moro bars popular, and still able to cook hot meals.

  • Scootin! Tell you what, it's easier to sail a well balanced boat in big seas like that than sit at anchor. Helmsman is busy, hope he or she has a powerbar handy.

  • Beautiful sailing. I sailed in many Force 8 to 10 seas, had storm sails up many times, and this is well done. I would advse you to download these videos, go get the sails and next time the wind is up get them set and feel your boat. Worth it.

  • do you mean 35-45 m/s (70-90knot)?

  • No way that wind rate is 35 to 45 knots...

  • Damn.Thats intense ive been in some storms, but erespect to whoever went up and did the shooting! On the leeward side to!!!I wouldnt have the guts:P

  • @Dime1232 I hear ya. But in my apprehension with my first real sail yesterday I preferred the weather side simply because I wanted to be as high off the water as possible (and wanted all the weight there too).

  • Respect to whoever went up and did the shooting!

  • That's a rough old sea...
