@madhavsaraswati Seen a couple of Supras at our shop a year ago, they have a difference of about 150hp, but their times are almost identical. Well just what Mr. Eric Hsu stated before, the Supra are Dyno Queens but does not move like the GT-R. Best Motoring has have a comparison of them, stock vs. stock, and the king of the inline 6 battle (tuned ones). But again both are very great cars, some having an advantage and disadvantage over the other.
Skyline R34s are much faster (the UK and Australia and other versions have seen 12.9s stock from being sold without the limiter. Not the J-Spec though, that one had the limiter)
SKYLINE > supra. supras are overrated and for wimps and kids.
@MrOtterLover - my point though is that the Skyline is better and faster than the Supra in drag racing, track, and other real racing. Supras are dyno queens and only win in gay roll races. Don't know who came up with roll racing, but it's the gayest form of racing IMO.

Skylines are a weapon and that is not questionable but a 2jz can handle 900hp on its stock bottom end. you have to spend quite a bit on an rb26 to get it as strong as a stock 2j bottom end. supra is rear wheel drive, it will never put its power down fast enough to beat a GTR
@EvokeDawn I don't think I'm right but I wanna see a reply from you as to how AWD would later be a disadvantage. I'd assume it'd be because immediately after a hard launch, all the weight is transferred to the back. Being that AWD DISTRIBUTES the crank horsepower to all 4 tires, therefore the power wouldn't be used to it's full potential from a launch. Please elaborate for me!

The red Supra was actually producing 1000hp. But there were so much turbo lag that he didn't had a chance againt the Nissan which is actually still driving today. The Supra was actually a everyday car and NOT a racecar with 402m setup. It even had a great stereo system!
The Nissan is owned by a Danish pro driver Nicholas Kiesa. Today that Nissan produces 900hp and like the Supra its also an everyday car ;-)

What I should say is that I don't really like the look of the supra, (why I have a JZX) but the engine and gearbox package on the JZ cars is just great.

@EvokeDawn Big wow dude a skyline is 50kg heavier. its about torque not power. you could have a 600bhp skyline with torque so high it would beat nearly anything. watch this (skyline vs supra) if you don't believe me.. the skyline can also transfer its torque to either the front or back wheels which gives it a bigger ADVANTAGE of TRACTION over the supra so their for 0-60 is reduced by 0.8 to 1.2seconds which will then cancel out the 50kg. a 1300hp skyline would beat a 1300 supra so try again nob

@xanhack Uhhh... not really. The 2JZ is what you call "good" on paper since it's 3 Liters, RB26 only 2.6. But the RB26 has ITBs and is high revving. And if you made the Supra AWD just like GT-Rs it will become slower because of the additional weight on an already heavy Supra. So to compensate maybe Toyota will design a smaller engine? and so on...
It's not a perfect world so let's just take it as it is. The GT-R and Supra has it's own advantages and disadvantages.

Skylines are a weapon and that is not questionable but a 2jz can handle 900hp on its stock bottom end. you have to spend quite a bit on an rb26 to get it as strong as a stock 2j bottom end. supra is rear wheel drive, it will never put its power down fast enough to beat a GTR

@EvokeDawn I don't think I'm right but I wanna see a reply from you as to how AWD would later be a disadvantage. I'd assume it'd be because immediately after a hard launch, all the weight is transferred to the back. Being that AWD DISTRIBUTES the crank horsepower to all 4 tires, therefore the power wouldn't be used to it's full potential from a launch. Please elaborate for me!

I was watching this race live many years ago.
The red Supra was actually producing 1000hp. But there were so much turbo lag that he didn't had a chance againt the Nissan which is actually still driving today. The Supra was actually a everyday car and NOT a racecar with 402m setup. It even had a great stereo system!
The Nissan is owned by a Danish pro driver Nicholas Kiesa. Today that Nissan produces 900hp and like the Supra its also an everyday car ;-)

@MyFrytek lol you know nothing about cars, I know people with both engines and with 2jz's there are reliability issues one of them exploded, the piston went thru valve cover and destroyed the engine, all the RB engines work fine still, Why doesnt toyota make the supra anymore, because it sucked, Even nissans SR engine is better than 2jz, its still being made today for a reason it is more succesfull than the 2jz and it is 4 cylinder engine and can handle as much power as a 2jz lol.

What I should say is that I don't really like the look of the supra, (why I have a JZX) but the engine and gearbox package on the JZ cars is just great.

@EvokeDawn Big wow dude a skyline is 50kg heavier. its about torque not power. you could have a 600bhp skyline with torque so high it would beat nearly anything. watch this (skyline vs supra) if you don't believe me.. the skyline can also transfer its torque to either the front or back wheels which gives it a bigger ADVANTAGE of TRACTION over the supra so their for 0-60 is reduced by 0.8 to 1.2seconds which will then cancel out the 50kg. a 1300hp skyline would beat a 1300 supra so try again nob

Besides on paper the specifications of the 2jz-GTE engine are better than the rb26-DETT! If the supra was 4wd just like the r34 then it would smoke the skyline!!! However if the supra has the correct suspension tuning and gear ratio the spinning of the rear wheels can be reduced dramatically!

@xanhack Uhhh... not really. The 2JZ is what you call "good" on paper since it's 3 Liters, RB26 only 2.6. But the RB26 has ITBs and is high revving. And if you made the Supra AWD just like GT-Rs it will become slower because of the additional weight on an already heavy Supra. So to compensate maybe Toyota will design a smaller engine? and so on...
It's not a perfect world so let's just take it as it is. The GT-R and Supra has it's own advantages and disadvantages.

They are everywhere. The RZ does indeed weigh what I said, I actually own one so can speak from real life experience... Yeah, Skylines GT-Rs or the lower GT-S variants are popular is very popular in Australia because of what it did there... The Bathurst legacy of domination thanks to the GT-R BNR32. :) But overall production wise, the GT-R much much more limited.
