  • the emerging church scares me. they believe in the destruction of the church, there is new age in it, and there are socialist views embedded in it. post modernism is not in the bible, and you go against the bible you are denying the trinity. a lot of these emerging "pastors" if you can call them that, are merely going against the normal church. this is a heresy. if they dont preach the bible and repentance, and they lack knowledge of the bible, that is a problem right there. a cult denies bible

  • Hell enlargeth itself because of the broad way

  • Want Truth? Read " New Evangelism" By Paul Smith.

  • This is why I don't like 12 Stone Church...

  • . For any emerging church pastor read 2corinthians ch.3+4. also, read the book of Jude, its the1 page book before revalations. The gospel is what should be preached and taught. how can u discuss jesus and what he wants if u dont know the gospel. there is no broad meaning to it. honestly there should only be one question, and that,s 'what must i do to be saved'.

  • wide is the gate.......

  • the bible is not god,god is bigger than the church and the bible dont try to put god in a box

  • @pdxpaul1 God is not the Bible but it is the closest we get to hearing directly from God. It can definitely become an idol but it should be very important in knowing more about God.

  • Christians on E....gotta love it!

  • Christians attacking this "movement" by saying the movement has a problem w/ "objective truth", R ridiculously hypocritical. The postmodernist's view on "truth" is the only ally religious faith has against science & rationality. The nature of religious faith is solipsism. Theology/religious faith havent given us ANY reason 2 think its claims have ANY epistemological value.

  • Hey Mr.Jones & other Emergent followers...What is messy about the how to follow Jesus? It's actually simple, though not always easy. Jn 14:6 in red ink, says, He (Jesus) is The Way and The Truth & The Life. No One comes to the Father except through Him." Dont be ashamed of what the Bible teaches. Rom. 1:16-17. The Bible also teaches the ways that seems right to man,in the end leads to death.(Prob.14:12) Run from anyone teaching anything different than that of the Bible. Check out Gal.1:8-10!

  • @EasyBozit I would agree with you HOWEVER, you must take how "Evangelicals", "Christians", "Catholics", etc. have carried out what they have felt was God's Will throughout history. THAT is what makes religion messy.

It is also good to question how one is being taught. Ex: People LOVE to use Deuteronomy against gays. However if we are to follow this completely, you must also follow the rest of those set rules. You can't just nit pick. You must also be aware the authors of the Bible were HUMAN.

  • to the poster: Religion and Ethics News Weekly isn't a documentary. It's a weekly program.

  • Doctrine, beliefs and faith should be able to withstand questioning and thorough study. We need to seek truth instead of defending what we've been taught as truth.

    whatthehellbook . com

  • wanna -be mainline 1960's liberals, please, give me a break, any church that refuses to answer the question "Is Jesus the Lord?" with a straight yes answer - run!!!

  • Finally, Christianity is growing up.

  • They are hipsters lmao

  • that priest at 6:20 gives me the creeps

  • you can thank Catholicism and martin Luther for going further out and further out now Protestantism and Catholicism is watered down to what the church was truely like in the first century..now we have abominations preaching false doctrines doctrines of demons because of the split is 1054 AD.

  • So troubling to read all of the hostile comments directed towards the emergent folks. If fundamentalists/evangelicals would spend as much energy on loving God and loving their brother as they did judging their brothers in Christ the world would be a better place.

It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart.

  • @coreydiekman I feel ya but this church is going to a little bit off the course and it can be dangerous im not trying to be judgmental.. Some new beginnings start with great intentions but end with tragic events. Ask God for discernment. I have been to many churchs I found that eastern orthodoxy answered nearly all the questions I had and when I did historical research I found it is the only church that can claim apostolic continuity.

  • @marmolejomarc Thanks for the reply. Can you give some specifics on how they are getting off course and becoming "dangerous"? I would have to say that fundamentalism is the only "dangerous" form of Christianity. The emergent conversation, as they call it, is more of an attempt at living the Christian life in the postmodern world. There is no specific leader dicating any commands, so it is not a cult.

Try reading some Brian McLaren and Peter Rollins. A lot is misinformation out there online.

  • Brian M is a good man doing lots of wonderful things.

  • This is the devil's doing, it is dangerous in our lives! Do not be deceived with this emergent church movement... "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;"

    1 Timothy 4:1-2, KJV;

  • Please, READ and KNOW your Bible! Even if you think you don't understand it and that the Holy Spirit isn't revealing it's truth to you......"Hide God's word in your heart" I'll be there when you need it! The Lord will give you what you need, when you need it, if your faithful and obedient now. If you don't you can easily be deceived! The Emergent Movement seems cool, but it's death to your soul!

  • Imagine, this movement takes sound theology & Biblical doctrine & throws it out-the-window to accomadate the current postmodern philosphy of secular life!

They put the need for social justice before the need for repentance & salvation. The world has crept in to the church and sin is no longer sin. To them it's about spiritualiy and they say it works! Well Yeah, it works, but is it Biblical ? & where did come? Satan, maybe? These souls are lost and need prayer! The Bible to test all spirits.

  • II Timothy 4:2-4 Preach the word, be prepared in season and out of season; correct rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when MEN WILL NOT PUT UP WITH SOUND DOCTRINE. INSTEAD, TO SUIT THEIR OWN DESIRES, THEY WILL GATHER AROUND THEM A GREAT NUMBER OF TEACHERS TO SAY WHAR THEIR ITCHING EARS WANT TO HEAR. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. ( please read the rest in your Bible-not enough room)

  • i wonder what paul the apostle would say about this? yoga in a christian church?

  • i like the way my pastor talks about the emergent church and rick warren. rick warren wants to remove crosses, altars, the choir, altar calls, etc from evangelical churches and my pastor always says "as long as i'm in this church that is not going to happen here" lol i love my pastor

  • @zoltron30 Where did you hear these things about Rick Warren? From what I understand, that's false speculation and rumor. I also prefer having a cross in church, a music group and I like that my pastor invites people to come forth to accept Christ at the end of a service, but those are minor aspects of worship that can vary depending on the church community. The important thing is that Christians devote time to church in order to worship and bring glory to God.

  • @2nd2LastSamurai when you get down to it, we are the church. a church community can be 2 christians getting coffee and can be much more fulfilling than a typical 3 songs and sermon surrounded by thousands of strangers you wont see until you get cut off in the parking lot. temples for temples doesnt make sense to me. worship is daily dying to self and living as christ has. when reading the bible i have no clue how we grew into what america calls church.

  • @awretchlikebruce Totally agreed! In fact there is a new book out that talks directly to this issue. If you think that Jesus is compelling/attractive but the church as we know it today in America is not, you should check this out. The book is called "Steeple Envy - Losing My Religion and Rediscovering Jesus" by Victor Cuccia. Very challenging and insightful. steeple-envy. co m

  • What a way to spit in God's face. I mean Solomon's Porch? Oh my goodness brethren wake up!

  • Talk about paganism

  • A religion with no absolutes has nothing to offer to a dying world that needs answers.

Jesus is the only way. The Bible is the blueprint for our life.

  • I hope it is obvious to even the most nominal Christian that the emergent movement is NOT Christianity.

Jesus is the answer. He is the ONLY way to the Father in Heaven. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent, obey and be saved!

  • Church is "exciting" the same way cream cheese and skim milk are "vibrant". Religion keeps coming out with "new" ways to make itself even more ridiculous in an effort to try and stay alive. Like Laetril was for cancer in 1he 1980s, "Emergent" is to religion.

  • If you'd like to read some article on the Emergent Church and on Rob Bell and his book, Love Wins, visit: HELLS BELL DOT NET

  • Looks like it's all experiential and emotional but no gospel. Why call it a church at all, it's just a bunch of people getting together for....what? If there is no truth then why meet with a bunch of people to dicuss how there is no "one true way". If Christianity needs to change with the times (i.e. become more like the world) then why does the Bible say "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." This is a movement to water down and liberalize the gospel, nothing more.

  • The guy at 1:13 is a liar. Its unbiblical and not based on truth

  • @glord0000 The spirit in which you respond betrays your heart.

  • if every emergent church is different, how can you folks try so hard to label it as 'new age' or 'cult'? You don't even seem to realize that the true church is the believers. A building with fun music is just that, and has nothing to do with 'church' than a bank or a starbucks. If you're going to label things and call them evil or cult, you have to look at every single individual christian, because even in a 'mainline' steeple house, individual believers will have different dogmas and beliefs.

  • I don't know what the emergent chuch is, but when are you going to realize how ignorant homophobia is? I am straight, but am totally embarrassed by how some of my fellow citizens treat other human beings. Don't Christian's preach that God loves everyone? That has to include people who just happen to love some one of the same sax.

  • but i do admit that some of its quite strange to me

  • im so glad i have the freedom in this country to worship God in the way i am led to worship

  • Somewhere during the Nineteen-Sixties, through the Seventies and Eighties, all of this eclectic blend of weirdness came to be known as "The New Age Movement". Now people call it "Emerging" or "Emergent" Church, "Universalism", "Panentheism". Whatever, dudes! We can repackage compromise however we want, but the pathway of righteousness IS narrow, and here are few who find it. The fact that hypocrisy and judgmentalism are reprehensible, does not validate or endorse all-doctrine inclusivity.

  • ya know what keeps people in the church? Christ.

not fancy music or trendy style.

its all about Jesus not this new age post modern bullcrap.

  • You do realize that the elite who run PBS and other mainstream media want you to distance yourself from this movement. This movement threatens to upset the financial boat - these new kind of Christians are willing to upset the banksters apple cart, doing things like selling what they have to live missionally. They are also quite involved in politics, which is something that I'm sure the banksters find disconcerting. Emergents see right through the liberal / conservative paradigm like glass.

  • I read lots of books about how to know God, but not the God of the Bible. I read many of Walter Russell's books, like "The Divine Illiads I and II, and The Secret of Light.

  • * "old"

  • what? how is the old way of doing church boring? Heck there are home fellowships in countries where christians are persecuted that are filled with people hungry for God but yet these ones in america have to resort to this foolishness...shows that Christ was always missing from the equation. Sometimes we learn the hard way but if you are truly in Christ, you realize that nothing in this world is as wonderful as Jesus...no church building, no worship song, no form of preaching or pastor...

  • This is not Christianity. This is pure idolatry. These people think they can please God with their own inventions, instead of worshipping Him they way He has prescribed in His Word. Also, this 'worship' seems more about "Me" than "God".

    Absolutely sick.....

  • @MrPaul1872 Man, quit trollin

  • @MrPaul1872 No irony there, eh?

  • @MrPaul1872 That what the Jews said about Jesus. Lol.

  • Modern Religion is obsolete...The Mass is designed for illiterate peasants of the middle ages; I am a Catholic; and reading memorized words over and over is ridiculous...

  • i love the EVANGELIC talking about church history! lol ..heres some history ...evangelism has no part of that history! its some 20th century cult! i love how christians pick on each other ...yet more evidence that christianity is a crock! truth is self evident and this garbage is not!

  • "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever." (1John 2:15-17)

  • While concerned with the more extreme teachings of the Emergents (those which question the deity of Jesus and the inspired nature of scripture), I am also troubled, and perhaps more so, with the practices and doctrines of the mainline and evangelical churches. The close-mindedness and rampant judgementalism, as evidenced by some of the comments here, is not in keeping with what Jesus taught and practiced. To assume one has a complete understanding of scripture is sure evidence to the contrary.

  • On another note. It is the truth of God's word on which his church is established and the scripture says that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. We know that GOD is all powerful and the devil is not. So know and realize that the devil will never be able to take over GOD's church. He may persuade people to leave God but he will never take over GOD's church. The devil still has to ask GOD for permission before he does certain things. Just read about it in the book of Job.

  • Throughout the scriptures God intends us to be a certain way. If you are going to be a child of God there are rules that you have to follow. When God created Adam he was without sin after Adam and Eve disobeyed God's rules sin entered into the world and from that point God has been making provisions for man to return back to his original state sinless. In order to return to that sinless state you must obey God's word. His truth(Jesus Christ) is the only way to truly be saved. Mans way wont work

  • People dont like the truth because it wont let them take the easy way out its too strict. If God intended for us to make our own way to him then what was the purpose of Jesus Christ coming to show us the way. It is not in man to order his steps. There is a way that seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death. Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. God gives us specific directions on how to see him in the end. Follow God only.

  • All of these new booming movements are the exact opposite of the truth because whether you like it or not the truth does not change and it isn't popular. Jesus Christ was the truth and only had twelve disciples and one of them sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. If these are ministers of teaching the truth shouldn't the response to their ministry be like the response to Jesus Christ's teachings? These movements are popular because they are what people want to hear not the truth.

  • This is just another attempt for some religious figure to make a bunch of money off of people who are sick of the status quo. It'll die eventually, just like the Christian church as a whole.

  • This is the great falling away predicted by Christ and Paul. And you need to research Alice Bailey & Lucis (Lucifer) Trust and the Plan to infiltrate to infiltrate the Christian church.

Knowledge of the Bible is our defence

  • nothice this is man centered instead of GOD centered

  • that place looks like a salvation army store,,,the christian church has nothing to do with your best life now,,,these people are heretics

  • this is so evil, they;re just watering down the true gospel to please men

  • I think it's funny how all these christians make these videos responding to the emergent church....Why are they so insecure and afraid....Jesus would be more disgusted with the responses....imho

  • The bible says not to engage in endless debates. It is comfortable NOT having answers???????????????

  • I don't see what the big deal is, let people talk to their imaginary friend however they please.

  • Great! Now I can drop E while in church.

  • Arnet you Calvinist buddy buddy with the Emergent church? I mean you did create it...

  • 1:39-1:52 he makes it sound like changing fundamentalist christianity is a bad thing! Fundamentalist christianity teaches that the bible is perfect and totally inspired by God - and in the bible it says homosexual's blood is on their own hands when people kill them for being gay. (fundamentalist christianity IS A BAD THING!!!)

  • what most christians do not realize, is that THEY are the ones who have been preaching a different gospel. None of the bs churches teach is anything near the early church, the proof is that the do it from a building. The building itself flies in the face of what the early church was all about.

  • what most christians do not realize, is that THEY are the ones who have preaching a different gospel.

  • @glord0000 The " emerging church" what a misnomer... it should be called the " dying church " All of westen Europe has become pagan.

  • Disturbing.

  • how can this be a cult when it dosnt practice anything that contitutes what a cult is. being, basicly, rituals.

  • @ 0:51 top of screen: winged disc of Ra/Horus/Shamash

@1:14 Solomon's Porch, the only part of Solomon's temple to survive destruction by Nebuchadnezzar. Solomon's temple was built by Hiram of Tyre w/ money from the King of Tyre. (See Ezekiel 28 and Hiram Abiff)

There is no need for the emergent to go beyond white middle class. It was tailor-made for them. The prosperity gospel has taken care of the minorities.

  • FUCK COLTS!!!!

  • run from this one just go to a show and support our musicians this is the merging of what will divide so many looks so good but think about it..... peace how many will challenge me after leaving this I hope as many as possible peace.

  • Religion is for idiots and psychos, enough said.

  • @XenovannHellwolf I disagree, religion makes people into idiots and psychos ...

  • @givingmantoo Touché.

  • Doubt homosexuality is a sin?! Next thing you know we'll stop stoning unbelievers!! the bible is pretty clear:

"But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die"

  • CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TAUGHT OR MAY BELIEVE, GOD DID NOT BECOME A MAN AND DIE ON A CROSS SO YOU COULD HAVE A NICE LIFE IN THE FLESH! NOR DID HE DO IT SO YOU COULD HAVE A FUN EXPERIENCE OR ENJOY YOUR "TEMPORAL LIFE!" ITS ABOUT "ETERNITY." PAUL SAID IT BEST ."TO LIVE IS CHRIST.TO DIE IS GAIN!" JESUS SAID " MY SHEEP KNOW MY VOICE AND THEY WILL NOT FOLLOW ANOTHER!" IF YOU ARE CAUGHT UP IN THIS ANTICHRIST MOVEMENT YOU ARE IN DANGER OF BEING LEAD AWAY FROM THE CROSS! AND LOSING YOUR SOUL!

  • THIS EMERGENT CHURCH IS DANGEROUS FOR THOSE WHO THINK THEY HAVE FOUND SOMETHING NEW! ITS THE SAME OLD PATH ALL CULTS FOLLOW! ALTHOUGH THEY USE MANY OF THE SAME WORDS AND NAME OF GOD, THEY HAVE GROWN WEARY IN WELL DOING, GIVEN UP AND LOST THE SIMPLICITY AND POWER OF THE GOSPEL! WITHOUT WHICH, THERE IS NO SALVATION! THEY MAY GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD.( FIND A MORE EXCITING, HAPPY, FUN, LIFESTYLE AND CHURCH STYLE) THEY ARE PREACHING ANOTHER JESUS, TEACHING ANOTHER GOSPEL, FOLLOWING ANOTHER SHEPHERD!

  • THIS"EMERGENT-CHURCH"IS A TRAIN WRECK IN THE MAKING,A HERD OF LOST SOULS RUSHING TOWARD A CLIFF! BE WARE! IF YOU'RE IN THE BACK OF THE PACK YOULL BE OVER THE EDGE BEFORE YOU KNOW YOUR LOST AND CONFUSED LEADERS HAVE CRASHED AND BURNED. THEY HAVE MISSED THE WHOLE POINT OF THE BIBLE ( GODS WORD) THEY HAVE MISSED " GODS " PURPOSE! WHICH IS THE MAKING AND PREPARATION OF A SUITABLE BRIDE FOR HIMSELF TO SPEND ETERNITY WITH! THERE IS A WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT TO A MAN BUT THE END THEREOF IS DEATH! READ IT

  • democracy. the rule of the people. Period. Call it what it is.

  • I think that we as the body of believers have to be very careful concerning the possibility of idolatries that are being set up in our local church buildings. Mixing in secular things with what is supposed to be Holy causes problems. What is being created today in church is spirtism and a hatred for God's holiness

  • @FitnessMinded

I agree, if Jesus were to come back today and see this, He would be tossing over tables like he did when he was here the first time...

  • @CaptainPlanet248 Sounds great but --Jesus was not a Christian, and tossing over tables is what him killed by the Romans.

  • People in this conversation really need to learn about church history.

  • @CaptainPlanet248 Amen I became a Christian about 3 months ago. I'm still searching for a church, I look at these emergent churches and mega churches and I'm like "I know I'm definitely not perfect myself, but are these guys reading the same book!?"

  • @CaptainPlanet248 You might be surprised which churches' tables he overturns. Careful how you judge.

  • For those who think individual and communal discussion about faith is futile must not believe in the power of the holy spirit. And if you think the original Christians practiced their religious ceremonies in the same way we practice church, then you are very ignorant...

  • Those officiating religion do so from a seat of authority. When they can provide proof as to the source of their authority then a sensible argument can be made. With evidence comes acknowledgment. But since no evidence has or ever can be provided we should be able to see where this authority of theirs really comes from. Themselves. I say it's false for two reasons. For one it provides no evidence of it's authenticity. Second it has borne destructive fruit.

  • These guys are opportunists praying on peoples gullibility. They'll do whatever it takes to make it a successful seduction.

  • If anything, emergent churches are very gospel-heavy.

Emergent churches (real ones, not DJ Turntables in the video, which is more "seeker-sensitive" than "emergent") focus on following Jesus's most basic teachings (Love God, Love they Neighbor). Frankly, it is a breath of fresh air compared to the churches I've been to, which frequently distort the bible to pretend it supports a conservative lifestyle. Eg - Many protestant churches denounce even social drinking (aka not drunk). Chapter verse?

  • Get rid of the fabricated excuse and It'd be great. You could call it Peoples Community - West Branch.

  • Christianity is a tree. The originating seed was Roman Catholicism. Roman Catholic leadership endorsed murder during the middle ages. When humanity saw this dangerous seedling growing into something bad they should have pulled it up like a weed and cast it out. But instead they allowed it to continue to grow and split into countless branches. No matter what the branch looks like it's still attached to the same trunk and roots.

  • @anprapture - Your argument here ("...originating seed...etc") isn't logically sound; just because the former was bad, does not mean the current is. By the same rationale you could argue that the originating seed of science was Alchemy, and that Alchemy was incredibly foolish and assumed elements could be turned into gold. They should have pulled it up by the roots but instead allowed science to grow and split, etc.

Not all science is Alchemy. Not all Christians are the Borgias.

  • @razordu30 Can a reformation from a lie be anything but another lie? Be careful how you respond here because you're already self defeating.

  • @anprapture - You're presupposing that the starting point is a lie. If it was the truth, then was warped into a lie, a reformation fixing the previous lie would not necessarily be problematic.

The problem is that you are starting with both the premise that 1) It's false 2) All religion is organized and purposely manipulative. If you are unable to accept an argument supposing those opinions are untrue, then continuing the discourse is pointless, because you are ill-equipped for argumentation.

  • @razordu30 If you belief science had it's roots in alchemy then you would do well to check your sources before attempting an argument.

  • this is not a religion xdd

  • Speaking from someone who is all too familiar with very legalistic churches who spend sermons upon sermons on "why our denomination is right" or "why society is too liberal and requires more conservative values", there is certainly something to be said for a more simplistic approach of "follow Jesus's example. Love each other". If I have to choose between feeding homeless people or debating minutia in Galatians, I think Jesus would want us to feed the poor.

  • @razordu30

Religion is a means by which opportunists gain unearned greatness by enslaving the minds of lazy, gullible people. It's a trade of currency. You give your admiration, attention, time and money. They give you insta-friends, free childcare, welfare, unearned esteem, and answers to questions that are irrelevant but given massive importance as to create a gap that only the religion can fill. Why do people need a fabricated excuse to get people together. It's a social club.

  • This is pure paganism. No, Christianity is not stagnant; but it is based on absolutes. Jesus did not establish an upgradeable religion. He fulfilled and established an ancient Faith. Our Faith has nothing to do with modernity, proven in that Jesus did not try to edit His teaching to fit the then current culture. Post-WHATEVER labels do not mean a person is a valid member of the Congregation of God. You may call Him Lord and still be told to DEPART FROM HIM on the last day.

  • i'm sorry a church that doesnt preach out against sin shouldnt even exsist.....

  • give me that old time religion, give me that old time religion, give me that old time religion its good enough for me.

  • WHAT!? denominations do not matter but they are moving away from worship

  • god isnt real

  • Church has no form and christianity is not stagnant, but the doctrines of the word of God never changes.

And also, yes there is an answer in the Bible, it's up to you to accept it or be blind to it.

  • I feel bad for these guys a little, because most of the questions they wrestle with, and even answers (including minority or divergent opinions) can be found in the Church Fathers' writings, most of which can now be found in English. But when you throw out all tradition and historical reference as "ineffectual" or "irrelevant in a post-modern world" this is where it goes. I'm hoping for a lot of these people this is a rest stop on the way to a deeper expression of Christianity.

  • 4:31 - devil horns hand symbol/satanic salute...

  • WHERE IS THE HOLY GHOST?????

  • Pagans

  • Sounds like the church of whatever floats your boat.

  • "many are weaving together elements from other religions.." What!?

It seems like they are looking to feed their "feelings/senses" rather than worship God.

I understand the want to let everyone have a voice but they're questioning whether scripture is true.

Do you really have Faith in Jesus and his Word or are you trying to change things to be more comfortable for you?

The Bible declares that the gospel is an offense. It will say some things you, mainly your carnal self, won't like.

  • MY BOY DR. CARSON, YEEE

  • The last day's apostacy is here.... Jesus asked when He comes back will He even find faith?

  • this movement has NO backbone, NO conviction. That's the problem I have -- everyone that says to be "open-minded" usually use that as an excuse to walk around and be SO tolerant that your sense of conviction is a walking question mark.

  • @RonnieAGonzalez exactly? So lost.... how can people live this way? so sad.

  • S I C K

  • If you don't want to be a man or woman and take a stand for AYTHING....right or wrong....then this is the "church" for you!!!

  • This looks like something Oprah would endorse, which is to say RUN!

  • We need less church and more personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We don't need a savvy new church experience, but to experience the washing of the Word by the Holy Spirit. People lead people astray, Jesus leads us to himself.

  • The thing that has always made me sad about this whole movement can be summed up best by C.S Lewis from the screwtape letters. One of the devils says, "well if they are going to be christian convince them to be christian plus... Christian plus vegetarian, christian plus yoga" ect. This way you keep them more focused on the plus rather than Christ. Not to worry liberalism corrects itself, the next generation will rebel against these people and become traditional for the sake of being different

  • It is the nature of man to do what is right in his own eyes. And the Lord despises it.

    Judges 21:25, Judges 17:6, Deuteronomy 12:8

I agree with McLaren that we don't have everything boxed up; I disagree with the assertion that we have nothing boxed up. What the Lord says always proves true, and it is dangerous to deny (or as the video says, "question") these things.

  • Experiencing God through Deceitful Mysticism

    expose on perfectpeaceplan website

  • you are pretty egotistical if you think you are the only sort of person who knows God.

  • Doctrine of demons...!

  • Mysticism blended too?

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. - Proverbs 16:25 KJV

I've found it interesting that some want to do what "feels" right instead of what IS right.

This is not to offend anyone, so please take none. Where is the "thus saith the Lord" in all this though?

  • "for things to be christian.." problem. beliefs cannot be christian. God created the whole world, and he is the definition of truth. to be a christian means to pursue jesus and truth about him, but that pursuit of that truth does not make the pursuit itself truth. the pursuit may lead to deeper understandings of different truths that make up jesus, but the "it" that is the pursuit does not fit into either a true or false category

  • We must keep the gospel alive.

  • When you pray, you pray to air. There is no god that will heal anyone, or help you, every "miracle" that you see can be debunked by science or be sheer coincidence. why would a god put a test on people if he already knows the outcome. Is he amused when people go to hell. then god is evil, and if this is a test then why give people in different environments and intellectual levels at birth. would you give kids different tests, and expect that to be fair. but 2 billion people think so.

  • @mronionsalad someone's blown off arm growing back can be explained by sheer coincidence? you speak as though you don't believe in a god at all, but also as if you are angry at god. he hasn't put a test on anyone. he created us to be intimate with him, and we choose not to do so, and thus have become so far from him that it is near impossible for us to interpret or see he love.

  • i think people now a days are trying to mold the church to fit THEIR lives. You can't mold GOD to fit your life. God was the one who gave you life..Please don't trick yourselves into believing you can...

  • I'm encouraged to see so many brothers and sisters recoiling at this "movement." A church that would deny the truth of the gospel does not have Christ, and without Christ the church cannot be His Bride. This is what the church is: the Body and Bride of the Lord Jesus.

  • I like the way these guys organize some parts of their services (such as the couches, etc.) but dead against the theological compromises. Very dangerous ground which will lead to becoming a cult or simply absorbed by the new age movement.

  • These guys are flying way out in the netherworld. They are literally inventing their own personal religion. They are evangelical hippies...good luck! If they can reinvigorate personal and social morality...good for them!

  • "Syncretism is not only, as the dictionary says, "the combination of different forms of belief or practice;" such a combination must tolerate contradictions. If you browse in the shelves that, in American bookstores, are labeled New Age, you can find there even Saint-Augustine, who, as far as I know, was not a fascist. But combining Saint Augustine and Stonehenge -- that is a symptom of (proto-)Fascism." ~ Umberto Eco

  • Aside from my involuntary allergies to Christianity, I think this is a totally legitimate way to live in a spiritual community.

  • THIS IS A CULT WHERE TECHNOLOGY AND POP-PSYCHOLOGY ARE REPLACING JESUS, THE GOSPEL, DOCTRINE AND SCRIPTURE; IT'S CHURCH WITOUT JESUS AND THE BIBLE...SO WHAT'S EMERGING IS WHAT FEELS LIKE CHURCH BUT ISN'T CHURCH AT ALL. IF YOUR CHURCH IS DOING THESE THINGS, GET OUT. I WENT TO KERRY SHOOKS "WOODLANDS CHURCH" IN WEST HOUSTON, AND I WAS "BLOWN AWAY" BY THE TECHNOLOGY AND POP-PSYCHOLOGY, BUT FELT "HUNGRY" FOR GOD'S WORD AT THE END - ALL THAT TECH CAN'T REPLACE JESUS, SO I STOPPED GOING. DANGER!

  • These places and gatherings seem so cheap, even the UMC minister's "high church Pentecostal" thing!

We must all work to lead each other to Christ in the face of these heresies. Let us pray as our Christian ancestors have: Save, O Lord, Thy people, and bless Thine inheritance! Grant unto Thy kingdom victory over enemies, and by the power of Thy Cross, preserve Thy commonwealth!

  • LAME fucking lame, if I wound up in a church like this I would leave immediately, no need to debate anything here, this church reminds me of a dry cracker.

  • some principles are good for the church's youths meeting, not for the church itself

  • Looks to be full blown apostasy and a welcoming board for the one world religion and antichrist.

  • 4:35 is very much reminiscent of Jewish Study of Torah, there is nothing wrong with this method. Um the new age stuff is what bothers me. 7:20 Um truth is truth, we are to speak the truth in love.

  • Brian is a good man; keep the ball rolling. We have along way to go, i.e., if we really want what is true.

  • We now have before us the effects of a bureaucratized, systematized way of doing things, which way has become irrelevant to the younger generations. This 'emergent' church is the result of the people before us and ourselves not listening to the people that matter, the youth of our world. Must we lose them to the world's way of doing things? Must we again face the utter abandonment of Christianity by our young people? If we continue our institutionalized way of doing things we will.

  • John 8:32 "You shall know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH shall set you free."

Not experience, emergents. TRUTH. TRUTH. TRUTH!

  • Paganism.

  • Holy shit. this is the funniest video i have ever seen.

  • Whose worship service? Fallen angel . . . Lucifer or Jesus Christ?

  • stupid spiritually lukewarm laodiceans :(

  • simply put...........the new world movement.......remember In 1 Cor, satan will come as an angel of light.........stick to the worship of the one true God...Jesus Christ...look up for our redemption draweth near....

  • "Oh no! Change! Heretics!"

This idea is not about services or worship updating, it's about getting in touch with the ideas presented by the historical Jesus and accepting the ambiguities without creating the insane dogmas which have plagued Christianity. As someone observing objectively, this seems far more in touch with the nature of the Christianity. The title of 'cult' is so misleading.

    Don't fear change!

  • the great falling away has filled the scriptures.

  • I don't care what the church looks like, how the pews (or couches) are set up, what label they put on themselves, as long as the teaching is that Jesus Christ is Lord and that He is the one and only path to Heaven and to the Father, that the Bible is the 100% unfailing literal world of God, then I'm fine with it.

  • IF YOUR CHURCH DOES NOT BELIEVE IN GOD THE MOTHER REV 22:19 REV 21:9 AND THEN GAL 4:26 OR KEEP THE PASSOVER EXD 12:10-14 MAT 26:17/26 LUKE 22:7-8 LUKE 22:18-19 AND JOHN 6:53 YOUR CHURCH IS OF MANS TRADITIONS.
