Ewing being an allstar doesn't mean much. He was out of posititon, as Starks mentions at 3:47 of this video, and clearly wasn't ready for Jordan. Jackson did all he could do. He was in position and perhaps was trying to get a charge, on a 2 on 1 break. I guess he could and gone for the block, but that would have been futile.

As much as one can say it was a desperate or luck play, you cannot deny the fact that it turned out to be an incredible play that caused a turning point in the series whether you can say it gave New York a 2-0 lead or it woke up Jordan to take over the series. It was in the ECF after all.

I miss some of Vince Carter's amazing dunks. Those are great, sure, but all from the 80's or early 90's. Since then, Carter has taken in game dunking to another level.
One of the reason why the Starks dunk is so famous is because it came during a clutch moment. So you have to imagine how it felt like live. I just learned about the Chambers dunk 2 days ago, makes me want to try something like that, but a person can get hurt trying it. Jordan was the best, but Magic's description of the Dr. J one puts it in perspective, so I guess I'll consider it a tie for the best.

@NewToneProducer John Starks was a right handed player. He dunked the ball over two defenders with his off hand during a playoff game that ultimately led the knicks to a 2-0 lead. That was why this dunk was so amazing, the knicks fan had nothing to do with this.

@eldrkzdrgn you're proving my point... it wasn't over anyone... if anything, it was a dunk "on" Horace Grant, but that's arguable... there wasn't even contact, he just so happened by fly by him... when i think of someone dunking ON someone, i think of Baron Davis' dunk during the Warriors playoffs a few years ago.. and you're seriously going to use "a left handed dunk from a right handed player" as a reason why this dunk is one of the greatest of all time?

@NewToneProducer Well yes you're right, it wasn't a play that the Knicks originally had planned. However during that time the Knicks were not mediocre, they were the best team in the east that year. As much as one can say it was a desperate or luck play, you cannot deny the fact that it turned out to be an incredible play that caused a turning point in the series whether you can say it gave New York a 2-0 lead or it woke up Jordan to take over the series. It was in the ECF after all.

Julius Erving's dunk was the best. Anyone who knows basketball knows it was the best. Idolize who you will, try and say today's pros are better, but the true Basketball players, coaches, and fans (of which I have been all) don't even have to argue. Julius Erving is was and will always be the best.

That Tom Chambers dunk looked like something out of a Movie. Like had cables attached to him. That was probably the weirdest dunk of all time. His head was eye level to the rim. Crazy stuff.

Starks did not dunk over Jordan. He dunked over Horace Grant and Jordan came over to help too late but wasn't even in Stark's path to the rim.

I miss some of Vince Carter's amazing dunks. Those are great, sure, but all from the 80's or early 90's. Since then, Carter has taken in game dunking to another level.

One of the reason why the Starks dunk is so famous is because it came during a clutch moment. So you have to imagine how it felt like live. I just learned about the Chambers dunk 2 days ago, makes me want to try something like that, but a person can get hurt trying it. Jordan was the best, but Magic's description of the Dr. J one puts it in perspective, so I guess I'll consider it a tie for the best.
