@cCcAkinci001cCc It's because there are so many foreigners in this university (as a commenter below said, about 60%) and many of them are Muslims. It's actually too many, enough to make me not want to go there.
@211Anon what is wrong with muslims? i mean how can u seperate ppl by their religions, americans are christian, english are christian, french and german ppl are christian but they are all different. Turkish are muslim, arabs are muslim but they are completely different too..
@cCcAkinci001cCc Islam has been consistently shown to be most at odds with the secular, modern, liberal attitude that defines western Europe. Sure, certain countries such as Turkey are more secular than others, but I'm making a generalisation that is for the most part true.
@211Anon u might be right but you are generalizing too much. There are billions of muslims. Turks are muslims but if you go to Turkey ull see girls walking with their headscarfs or turbans together with their friends in mini skirts. That is real islam. Arabs and other stupid countries make it look like its anti secular or an evil religion but actually its only freedom and peace. In colleges u see girls with headscarfs along with hot chicks in tights in Turkes, isnt that secularism?..
I just started at queen mary, absolutely loving it. very high standards of teaching and academia in general. Only negative- too many international students, about 60% of students. they don't get british humour :(
I will be leaving in a few months after four years, will miss it that's for sure. good luck to the new comers.
