I swear, I seriously don't understand why they chose Jayme over Allie. First of all, they always say that it's not just based on this song, but all their performances in general. And Allie did better in this song, AND all of her other performances !! I thought Allie could've WON. Oh, well. Allie has a great talent, and I hope she pursues a successful singing AND acting career .

Although a very difficult decision, Simon made the right one. Jayme has depth to her voice that we have not heard yet. I believe that she will go far.
They were on I'd do anything, another show just like this in England which was looking for a Nancy (and Oliver) for the production of Oliver and they sang this in their sing-off.
Niamh and Rachel??? Kind of silly to compare the Canadian contestants to the British ones when they're competing in different countries and for different shows: Maria a novice in a convent and Nancy a hardened prostitute no less!
Of course the singers would be bringing different tones and textures to the song.
I wasn't comparing them. I was just answering your question. I know they are different shows! I do think that this song should be interpreted in the same way for any role because it is the same song but they are singing it how they have been told to sing it. I also think that the standard of IDA was higher than this.

I thought Niamh and Rachel sung this better than this pair, cos this pair's voices were a bit too piercing, whereas Niamh and Rachel's voices were soft and tender and the bits where their voices overlap was so tender :)
Love how they dimmed the lights on Elaine and John this week to hide their expressions on Simon's decision around 3:15. Hilar! But also kind of terrible.

It's true. The judges have been giving the girls terrible songs that do not showcase their voices, whatsoever. I hope that next week is better.

I think it's partially the ascent in Canada the accent is a lot more piercing than an English ascent
