Every muslim ( not only Turks), goes to TURKISH scools, not greek, from elementary school until the very last class of highschool, with TURKISH teachers, Turkish books and turkish teaching program, as it was proposed from the turkish to the greek ministry of education. Even greek is teached as a secont language.

About politics: for the last 15 years there are turk-thracians Members of the Greek parliament ( there were 4 of them elected in the elections of 2007 and- if I 'm not mistaken- 3 in this parliament. About the period 1989-90 I never heard anything so please enlight me. Every muslim ( not only Turks), goes to TURKISH scools, not greek, from elementary school until the very last class of highschool, with TURKISH teachers, Turkish books and turkish teaching program, as it was proposed from the turkish to the greek ministry of education. Even greek is teached as a secont language.

Istanbul Greeks can choose their religious leaders while Turkish minority still dont have any right about this.Greece intentionally blocks Turks there to open schools and to teach Turkish language while there are many Greek schools in Istanbul and mostly almost empty.Yes maybe 60 years ago,Thracen Turks had large fields(%80) there but today because of the politics which Greece runs against minorities,they lost their fields(decreased to %20).

Numbers are not comparable because Thracen Turks generally live in rural areas and they are isolated.Also you mentioned 1955 events but in 1989-90,Turks in Thrace had to receive hard attacks and Greece that time changed its laws not to see any parliementer from Turks.And We all know that Greece has been warned many times by EU because of minority rights.I want to state these for the FACTS.

Geia Sou Mparmparos, thanks again for the great video, as I learned ALOT from it; however, I can speak for the US only, Asia Minor is not taught in the school system, and the geographical knowledge is lacking there, therefore, without stating it in the video, the perception would be to think the Greeks came in the 19th century.

Yes,you're right.I really didnt want it to be understood as refusing thousands of years of Greek presence in Asia Minor until 1st quarter of 20th century.I think that's the most dramatic thing that Greeks had because of wrong politics and that Greeks were used just for the rights of those imperialists to found a puppet state in order to control the region more easily as a colony.

Yes, I agree about the imperialism. Even being Greek, I wonder if the Greek King and his peculiar thinking at the time would have also been a negative force for Asia Minor - causing more problems between Greeks and the rest of Turkey, who knows, developing into a greater battle during WWII. My personal belief is that only Venizelos in power, with a strong hold, would have led to something better for the region, Greeks and Turks.

Great video! BUT, the perception given is that Greeks first came to Asia Minor coast in the 1800's. They were always there, more came in the 1800's. This was the heart and soul of Greece. Also, you state the economic advantages to Greece. Nothing could make up for Greece, culturally, than it's loss of a connection to Asia. And all that ecomomic gains lead to what..all the discontent in Greece to now can be traced to the stupidity of both govts.....Let's learn - move forward. Serefe Arkades!
