@Thecrazymerio dude how much did it cost??? did u have the four day passes?? and do u know if Modest will be there 2012(i checked the website no line-up posted yet)???sorry so many questions i'm from the east coast and i really wanna see MM badly
@Kuchemist I had four day passes. I can't remember how much it cost exactly. I don't know about next years line up. I've also seen them at Summerfest in Chicago and that was fun as well. This was great though. The lighting was so perfect for MM, and the timing of all of their songs was splendid. Lots of other bands were great too. I saw Death Cab and The Decemberists and Matt & Kim. Matt & Kim was awesome as well. Those guys know how to get the audience involved.
@Kuchemist The four day passes were about $300. They were on sale in November 2010 then sold out as soon as they announced MM as a headliner in February 2011. Then the tickets shot up to about $600 dollars anywhere you looked. I got the one day myself, about ($100)-but my day was chock full of awesome bands. I think I got lucky cause the lineup wasn't announced until later. So the four day prolly would be the safest bet.
Honestly, I don't understand half the people on here. If I were to pick an album that I thought this song was off of, I'd guess We Were Dead.
And honestly, Old stuff verses new stuff is a stupid argument. They've had absolutely amazing songs on EVERY album, and forgettable songs on every album too.
Personally, my favourites are their banjo songs. Satin in a Coffin, King Rat, Bukowski. So condemn me for only naming songs off the last two LPs.
@happyparallel YES! I bought a banjo last year mostly because of the incredible riffs I had heard from modest mouse... can't wait for this LP to be released
@LucidSymphony Hell fucking yes. I was worried about the Mouse's direction too...after hearing the Moon and the Antarctic it was hell listening to their last shit. But the Mouse is fucking back! :D
In the truest sense of it all most fans that found them due to Float On or Dashboard or what not. Probably wish they HAD found them earlier and are kicking themselves in the head for not listening to them sooner then they did.
I hate that shit. Why does it matter when you discovered the band? It only matters that you discovered them. I found Modest Mouse through Float On, and I'm fucking glad that the song was widely popular because now I enjoy every single song that they've ever put out.
If the people who found them through Dashboard and Float On had found them sooner than those songs becoming popular we wouldn't be having this conversation. Honestly, I'm content with when I found them. It's not a troubling matter than keeps me up at night in cold sweat.
@Kulizokia I said U not other people Im SAYING wouldnt U have like to but you just said that you wouldnt which 2 me makes no sense Id have love to see them play a full set of songs from just albums Building Something Outta Nothing A Long Drive With Nothing To Think About & Lonesome Crowded West And/or there LPs The Fruit That Ate Itself Interstate 8 and Everywhere and There Nasty Parlour Tricks Don't get me wrong I <3 all there music but 2 hear them play FULL sets of just THOSE songs would kill!
true fans wouldn't whine about how a band's sound changed for the worse or talk about how much better of a fan they are because they like their old stuff better. a true fan would love whatever they do, appreciate, and accept the new sound. be more optimistic. it's all great stuff, it really is.
@Kulizokia but i'm talking out the people who comment on youtube videos thinking they're better than everyone else because they like the old modest mouse better. i'm not talking about the people who just like the music.
As many of you say, their older stuff may be better, but most of us found Modest Mouse through Float On or Dashboard anyway (I personally listened to The Good Times are Killing Me when I was younger with my brother), and it led me to find their other brilliant, spectacular work. So that bit of mainstream they pulled paid off for all in the end. Modest Mouse got more money, more publicity, and fans grew, eventually creating more hardcore fans like a few of us that just so happen to prefer some o
wwdbtses was a great album! A different sound for sure, but it has plenty of good songs. One of my favorites being Little Motel. We waste time, we waste words, we waste strength when we argue over Modest Mouses' music.
@DSakaiOnRye wwdbtses, I'm on the same page. That album was ok. nofayn was pretty good. Every band has a musical style and they've kinda moved away from it as they progressed as musicians. I do miss their original style and I hope they incorporate it into their new stuff.
@chrtes Yeah, the way I see it, the older albums (Moon and Antartica and Long Drive, both fuckin' magical.) is Modest Mouse's 'sound', while Good News was more pop and I'm assuming trying to get more well-known (bit mainstream, but hey, it worked, and I found them out through Float On.) and We Were Dead was pretty rock 'n' roll. It's all good.
haha, no kidding! When you listen to a band/artist enough it can seem like them releasing an album is like some beautiful angel giving you the gift of music. :D
