Well I played a set of Toca Traditionals (wood) for about 10 years and really loved the tone.A lot of my favorite players played fiberglass though.I thought it was time for something new so I picked up the set of Galaxies.I can say that the fiberglass are louder for sure and brighter.There is something so mellow about wood though.The best advice is go to a store that has both and take a listen.If you can't play just yet ask the salesman and listen. For live band situation=fiberglass

I upgraded to these about two years ago (about the time I started putting all of my free time into the guitar) Different sound going from wood to the fiberglass for sure. I really need to get back into practice. Perc. really is so rewarding.
what gives a better sound, wood or fiberglass? really looking to get some congas but not sure on what to get
