  • What's your real name

  • ContinuE frOm last shooting us with ur belt

  • Hey Tolstoy I didn't notice anyone comment about your bullet belt well do

  • Hey Tolstoy wanna send me your shittiest knife? :)

  • quality knives sharpen better than cheep knives so just use 40 or 50 dallar knives and free hand sharpening is really hard and it took me about a week o practiceto learn

  • tolstoy your intro skits are awesome just makea full legnth move intor skitt video allredy :P

  • If I may make a guess, maybe the whetstone doesn't work when you hold it up like that because it has no way to apply force against anything. Keep the whetstone on the desk maybe?

  • there is a advertisment related to knives

  • lol, this guy is frustrated with sharpening, help him please.

send your knives to cutlerylover or jdavis882, they're good!

  • cutlery lover is boosting your views ;D

  • i saw cutlerylover commented in a video and clicked.

  • complete NERD!!!

  • @johnwendt56 oka mr derp^^

  • p.s. send me your favorite knife Ill sharpen it for ya for free and send it back ;)

  • @cutlerylover CUTLERY! <3

  • @cutlerylover

Dude, how the hell would I choose? CAN I JUST SEND THEM ALL!? PLEASE!!?

  • your sharpening technique looks to be fine your angle is just too steep so your rounding the edge...

  • your not holding your toy gun properly. if that was real and if you shot it your arm would blow off...

and at 24:38 you mean slipJOINT knife, not slipknot...thats a band..lol

  • what document were you cutting up there tolstoy?

  • ALWAYS MORE LUBE!!!!!

  • your katana's are convex you need to sharpen them accordingly. as for the scandi ground knives just get a diamond rod and you will be fine. with a diamond rod you can feel when you have the right angle because it bites into the steel. hope it works out for you

  • dont say you dont know enough you know alot tolstoy

  • I recommend you get a smiths pocket sharpener. They have the angle like that one that scrapes off tons of metal, but it doesnt seem to take as much off. Also you might invest in a strap, (or just a leather belt I guess could work) and some oil for it. Use the strap each day, and it usually keeps the edge going after it is properly sharp. You might check back in cutlerylovers videos to find out more about it.

  • Just buy high quality knives aus 8 steel sharpens real easy I never buy 420 stainless its cheap it won't hold an edge and won't sharpen good. Spyderco, crkt,or cold steel knives are best

  • 2:43 LOL Ily Tolstoy <3

  • nice belt, Tolstoy i have one for my revovler. :}

  • on another note watch videos on how to use the lansky system, that will put a decent edge on it, it is awesome for reprofiling, but you still need to strop after using that for a good edge

  • get yourself a strop and strop your knives on a consistent basis, you cant mess it up really its easy enough and if you do that you should never really have to sharpen with other means

  • It is not a straigh knife, so firstly it is wrong to try to edge it in one direction. Imagine like to "draw"the shape of the knife in the rock, making a curve.

  • you have to do the wet stone for a long time it take time to get it right but just keep going for a lest 20 min every day and your knife will get very nice :)

  • The wrong person is gonna fuck with Tolstoy and is gonna be in for a big suprise. Fk the derp

  • @pladampa

I'm counting the minutes till that moment.

  • Comment removed

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky had to change my comment my bad just wanted to say thank you for responding and I have been a fan of your for awhile. Honestly they "derp" have it coming but I hope you never have to use one of your weapons (even in self defense) but you got to do what you got to do. Take it easy. My bad for the last comment at the end just realized what I wrote.

  • @pladampa I meant to say except self defense I can't get my comments right

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky

counting the minutes for the moment you get to get your ass shot for trying to cut someone with a knife? LMFAO. and you always make fun of southern voices when you obviously talk that way but try to force yourself not to, but it still slips out.

  • One of the best ways to sharpen a knife and help keep a sharp edge is to use a sharpening stone, and then follow up regularly with a strop and some abrasive paste. A strop is basically the long leather belt looking thing hanging in a traditional barber shop that you see barbers sharpening their razors on in movies and such. If you can find a strop, you can probably find the paste on the same website or in the same store.

  • I would recomend a bar of ceramic it's what my dad uses to sharpen knives and i now use it just keep it rough and it'l sharpen your knife well.

  • Honestly dude those wet stones aren't any good. I have bought countless different cheap knife sharpeners and I got one for like 160 that has a belt sander and an angle adjustment. The wet stone is hard to keep the same angle after each swipe.

  • look up a video my the worksharp sportsman. does all the work for u

  • I think you suppose lay the side of the knife to the stone as angle of the knife.

But what you do is decide the angle of the edge you want and grinding the edge against it.

Kitchen knife use water as lube for the stone may be you can try that then oil your knife afterward. Good luck : )

The wet stone don't need to be big cause you can bring the knife to the stone or stone to the knife.

  • I heard that on the stone doing a figure 8 for like 30 seconds a side back and forth like twice on both sides

  • dont be hating on arkansas PUNK (JK I took no ofense)

  • do you like the KA-BAR?

  • @HokageKyubiNaruto wait nevermind, I forgot you had one on your EDC vid. Sorry.

  • when you say 'me' that means us in finish

  • @tashi11253

You think he gives a shit?

  • @zanuha no lol

  • with my wit

  • i do this too when there's a spider in my room

  • @mintkendishin Watch more of Tolstoy's videos, or view his channel, then tell him about cutlerylover. He's subscribed already.

  • I'm kinda the same way when it comes to tools, luckly my skills lie in other areas, areas that are more suited for where I live, witch is in the city, and of all cities, its Portland, so because of the thriving music scene and the job I have, I can't build a house or sharpen a blade, but I can set up a drum kit in a few minutes, and change the strings on almost any stringed instruments, Meh.

  • Could you do another ratchet and clank action figure review?

  • Has your family ever seen anything you film?

  • do some research on stropping

  • stropping ur knife is very important when it comes to maintaining that edge.......search a guy named cutlrylover here on youtube.....his edc knives are always really sharp

  • Apocalypse now, yay!

  • Why Do You Capitalize The Title Like This?

  • Who have you heard pronounce Arkansas as "Are Kansas"?

  • tolstoykafkaevsky can u add me in ps3 i wait to is ur afdd me or not

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky you should do another ratchet and clank action figure. and i also think The gun Zach had in the dreamcast review was a daisy powerline 880. the only pellet gun i have

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky waht is yur favorite blade and Airsoft?

  • @mahoganypie

Dark Sentinel (even though it can't cut, I still love it) and the MP5K, I suppose.

  • Anybody ever say you look like Devon Murray?

  • One thing that most people don't get, is just go with it, even if you don't exactly understand it, because sometimes it may not seem like something little matters, but its there, so theres obviously a reason for it, also patience.

  • Tolstoy! I found a video on how to use the Lansky Knife Sharpener! It's really informative!

    /watch?v=EhDoJEQVhZw

  • tolstoy, did your parents ever walk in on you when ur filming a skit??

  • @FrankieTheoret

No, I film when there's no one else around.

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky smart :)

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky "NO SACK BOY NOO NOT THERE, I POOP FROM THERE" Dad: son you watching your Japanese girl cartoons again?

  • ah yes, nothing better than cutting your enemy's head off with your blade.( well not that i know any thing about that!)

  • I really don't know.If it were me,I'd use the accusharp for about twenty minutes just to make sure it's sharp.Normally the more work you put into something, the better it turns out.

  • Aren't you suppose to get the wet stone....wet?

  • I know how to sharpen knives... WITH THE BILLY MAYS ENDORST SAMARI SHARK!!!!!!! :0

  • I have a smith's sharpening system and it's easy as hell and I'm technically challenged as well. I usually do 10 reps on each side with 5 sets....to utilize workout terms hahah

    Dom

  • I have to read an autobiography/memoir of my choice for school. Any interesting suggestions?

  • I dont think your a loser tolstoy :(

  • hey tolstoy, would you rather have to sell your knives or sell your airsoft guns and you cant buy any more?

  • @mrkoolman23

    Airsofts

  • Try the spyderco sharpmaker

  • TOLSTOY!!!!!!!!!

Whenever you sharpen on a stone, don't sharpen one side like 10 times. Sharpen one side 2 times then sharpen the other side 2 times. Repeat.

Also, try the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Best sharpener for beginners.

    Costs about $50

    I

  • I like ur... Tie

  • if u want a non derp video game about strength look up heavy rain also love the belt

  • @ThePivotaddict

I wanted to play heavy rain, but the horrible voice acting would put me off too much.

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky ya its like a horribly dubbed japanese movie

  • my friend goes with the blade

  • Red Dead Redemtion...... FDS

  • HOLY S**T APOCALYPSE NOW REFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES THIS IS AWSOME

  • @theBRANDOProductions

    You're welcome.

  • Best of getting a knife sharpening machine. They work

  • I pooted.

  • also the Gerber knife sharpeners for 2-3 dollars are pretty good or if you want really sharp edges look at cutlery lovers tutorials he has a lot of vids about that subject

  • would it be weird that i found the opening this time, an amazing opening for an action movie?

  • You look as hot as shit there.

  • like your belt tolstoy like it alot

  • Plucking the blade - it should literally grab at your fingerprint. Some also look at the edge of the blade under a light and see if they can see the edge shine back at them (indicating a flat spot, IE if it were *perfectly* sharp absolutely no light would reflect back from the very edge).

  • I would consider this video more of a semi-rant or a "help me" video (aka title sums up what your video is about).

And as others have stated, find a weapons/blades forum that seems helpful if you have any questions such as sharpening or even buying suggestions like "Should I really buy this Master Sword replica or should I just save my money for something else?"

I apologize if I wasn't that helpful since I'm not that much of an expert on blades.

  • "...LIQUID..."

  • @alecjahn

...er... no this is McDonald Miller!

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky For swords go watch jeeperrandy's vid on sword polishing stropping technique. It's a very fine polishing technique and you can't really screw it up, but it's only good for maintaining an edge or finishing the edge off (also works with knives). For knife sharpening look up CarterCutlery's vids. In one he sharpened a knife with a cinder block and cardboard, not saying anyone go try that but it just proves - 99% technique 1% equitpment. Hope that helps.

  • i do like fucking hero of canton does it

    Take stone

    Spit on it

rub the fuck out of blade

    SHARP!!!!

  • His e-harmony page

" lonely and lives with mother. And also makes 30 minute long videos for YouTube, and their badass"

  • how sharpen is by moving the stone and not the knife. thats so i can get a consistant edge and not get cut

  • Don't feel bad about ranting, that's why I enjoy your vids so much. You could rant for hours and I'd watch.

  • Speaking of blades and all, do you have a suggestion for a good beginners 'every day' knife? just looking for a nice blade for work, cutting boxes an straps and what not.

  • @statman26

    What's your budget?

  • @zanuha something cheap i guess, im not sure of an exact range. ideally no more than $20 but im not sure if that can even buy a respectable "cheap" knife

  • @statman26

Get a Spyderco Tenacious. It's around 30 bucks, but it's one of, maybe even THE best knife in that price range.

  • LUBE!! lol

  • bullets on your belt?

  • yes Apocolaypse Now this is what im talking about.

  • I'd just like to say, man, you remind me a lot of Dwight Schrute from, "The Office" I mean, seriously!

  • @halofan981 hahahaha

  • About your comment on learning guitar how you have to start early, you are pretty damn right. I'm 14, and I've played for 5 years, you don't know how pissed I get when I hear about people who learn to play as a way to "pick up chicks". They are pretty derp, I mean it's art and some people expect to have it happen instantly and only want the pay off. I have hard enough callouses to be able to pick up a boiling pot of water for a few minutes :P

  • Looks like tke lost some weight...

  • totally agree with you about the derp views on what is a "warrior" I find it infuriating to use a gym now since there are too many people in there lifting unnecessarily huge weights and flexing their mussels in the mirror.

  • hey im not a sword expert (im just getting into swords) so im asking anyone who knows this question

why does my sword wiggle in its sheath and is that bad and if so how can i fix it

  • I was lol-ing when you dulled the knife.

  • Tolstoy would be my first pick to fight alongside in a zombie apocalypse.

  • @bearsfanx60 agreed. If only for the amount of weapons that he possesses

  • Why have I never noticed your splicer mask before? Where'd you get that?

  • ive always just used a whetstone for my knives and sword, never had any trouble, sometimes you can just have trouble getting it sharp, sometimes you just need to try harder

  • If I remember right using a whetstone you have to put a lot of pressure on it and spend plenty time on it, like an hour, half an hour, but I'm not sure

  • How I sharpen a knife: Do the wetstone technique with a strong sword instead of a stone.

To test if its sharp, see if it cuts your arm hair without forcing it

  • Certainly do a follow-up to this, I'm also curious/ignorant.

  • Your so funny and I love blades go to cold steel its the best

  • by the way you look kinda white , you might want to get a Incandescent light bulb or turn your camera setting to sunlight so you your skin looks more natural not white and pale like a zombie

  • tolstoy your blade isnt at an angle enough 30% is key the bevil of the blade

  • hey tolstoy, a new bioshock novel came out today. its a prequel to the first game about the rise and fall of rapture...its sounds pretty awesome

  • Related videos: Ehow's "How to sharpen a knife". lol

  • That is a badass blet tolstoy.

  • ray mears has a great video on shapening knives

  • Hitachi G10SS 4-Inch Angle Grinder

  • Arent you sharpening the wrong way? I didn't think you were supposed to have the sharp end sliding forwards the stone?

  • I'd recommend hitting up blade forums, they have a section of the board just for sharpening. I've gotten the best advice from there. last comment on this vid i swear.

  • @freedoomed

Well your comments are good advice. It's helpful, so it's appreciated.

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky No problem man. I do have two videos up on my channel about the edge pro apex showing how to use it and the results of me sharpening my first knife on it if you are interested. I've also got a spyderco triangle sharpmaker and a leather strop. the sharpmaker is good for maintaining an edge but if it's too dull it takes forever to use. right now i'm teaching myself to freehand sharpen on a little pocket ceramic stone before i go all out on japanese or arkansas wet stones.

  • Cuting in paper is the worst thing to do with a knife, its makes it less sharper and you have to sharpen it again. and now you guys FUCKING LISTEN! dont fucking write: 'blablabla no you are wrong blablabla you suck at knife's blablabla. SHUT UP, you are wrong BITCH!' BTW keep up the good work TKE

  • I have an Accusharp, it touches up my machetes pretty well, But like you said katanas are a BIG no no. I'm also too scared of risking damage to my one and only medieval sword.

  • With basic sharpening it's best to maintain the original angle. the best way to see if you are maintaining an angle is to cover the edge in Sharpie. as you sharpen the sharpie will come off and you can see if you are matching the angle. if you aren't hitting the same angle then you will need to spend more time because you are reprofiling the edge.

  • Lansky is a good basic sharpening system. There are several other more expensive systems like the edge pro and the wicked edge but if you aren't having luck with lansky you might want to consider the work sharp knife sharpener. It's basically a mini-belt sander that comes with several different grits. it's got an angle guide so you just pull the knife through a few times on each side.

  • tolstoy you should ask some one that you buy your knifes from

  • The sharpest blades I have ever used were in a restaurant kitchen I worked in. They were professionally sharpened every few weeks. Probably not the best option for most people though.

  • There are a lot of Mcdojos, in fact the majority of martial arts schools are McDojos, do your research.

  • @patio87

    McDojo... I like it...

  • @patio87 do they sell cheeseburgers?

  • @SaidWhoProductions

Not sure if funny or just bizarre.

  • I live in Arkansas :(

  • ah tke, you're too hard on yourself

  • @tampz0nz

Appereantly, I'm not hard enough on myself. Everyone in the real world takes great satisfaction in telling me how worthless I am as a human being. In fact, my entire life I've had this sick fascination that has stemmed from societie's reaction to me, always pondering on how exactly you're supposed to JUDGE a human. Is skin color a factor? What about religion? It's like they don't want you to ask these questions that are inferred when they tell me I'm nothing.

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky In the background did I see an Alice poster?

  • 23:26

That made me flinch so bad. I was like:

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING STOP THAT ARGHRHGER HG BOE5HKGKK5H"

  • I know this might sound off topic but Tolstoy, why is American McGee's Alice one of your favorite games of all time? Just wondering since I just finished the PlayStation 3 port of it and I did enjoy the art style, story, and voice acting of the game but it was as hard as can be but I still had fun with it and will move onto Madness Returns after a couple of days have passed. Also, speaking of Madness Returns, have you got to play it yet and if so, what are your opinions about it?

  • I actually use hard branches, and wood for self defense XD Their free, and easy to get if you live across from a forest preserve. Yes I'm a nature type of guy.

  • I think your knives are sharp, it's that limber computer paper. Try it out on one of those cards that fall out of magazines, I bet it'll work far better there.

  • I think the reason the edges don't stay is you are cutting paper. stop that

  • Tolstoy do you go on 4chan? or was someone impersonating you? cause I encountered someone who was saying your weapon collection was yours and when I questioned them they said no they weren't you but posted a picture of you doing a "oh you" face

  • @koolioman12

That was me. You really freaked me out, and actually got me laughing pretty hard. I assume you were the one posting the pictures of Dark Sachboy and commanding me to do as you instructed. You even suggested that the reason the big daddy action figure fell on me that one time was because it was pushed by dark sackboy. I recounted this story with my close circle of friends over drinks and we made merry.

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky I wasn't posting the Dark Sachboy stuff, all I really asked is if you were Tolstoy, I wanted to keep posting but I was just leaving as I noticed the thread. I never would have guessed you of all people would go on 4chan :P (that was a joke) I do however feel quite enthralled that I am talking to you (I really do hate to gush out like that)

  • great vid. That is a badass belt

  • TKE = FTW!

  • the best place to get huge whetstones is bass pro shop or cabalas

  • @modog4000

Guess what? I checked Bass Pro Shop. Nothing. Little cheapy whetstones. Nothing large enough to do what I need to do.

  • @TolstoyKafkaEvsky well i went ther like 2 weeks ago and they had a huge whetstone it was like 3 feet long

  • Most people who go to the gym to lift weights these days train for "short muscles" (buff-looking) instead of "long muscles" (effective). The pathetic thing about these people is that they don't do anything with these muscles, they just want to look like they do. I personally work a SHIT-ton at home, helping my dad with stuff around the house since he has a bad back. And by doing this I have just as large muscles as most derps going to the gym.

  • if u go to a knife shop they have a liquid that you spread over the edge of the blade and it strengthens the edge and it keeps it sharp for like way longer

  • Try making the passes even. For instance, 10 passes on one side of the blade and then 10 on the other. Make it as even as possible. Also try looking through cutlerylovers intense number of videos I could have sworn I've seen a couple of sharpening videos.

  • @guitarman812

I have checked Cutlerylover's stuff. Haven't found anything as in depth as I would need it, apparently.
