I just think that u have an unfortunate healthcare system, which should be revamped and changed for the better , including anyone and everyone, Kinda makes me think i where a tourist over there with the current system, and suffered an illnes or injury, would i need American health insurance specifically for me (or this may be partly included in working/holiday visa) something i will have to look into for future oversea travels

I say Rep. Joe Wilson does not deserve his position if he cannot be respectful during a speech from our President... but that's just me. As for illegal immigrants, it shouldn't even be a debate. In the history of America, nearly all of our families came over as "illegal" immigrants. Therefore, what right have we to judge them? Also, Conservative Republicans argue over abortion and "saving babies", and yet they would not save the life of an immigrant? How does this make sense?

I agree that we do have a moral obligation to treat sick people, regardless of their immigration status, but even if one doesn't share that "moral" view, it is still in our best interest, as a society, to treat ALL people who are sick. If there is a sudden outbreak of, say, the swine flu, would we not all want anyone who is contaminated to be treated so that they don't spread the illness to others?

Yes, we treat everyone in emergency rooms. But if everyone, including "illegals," could be treated in a "free clinic" or regular family practice, society as a whole would benefit from it, and healthcare costs for taxpayers would be less because people who are uninsured under the present system would not have to resort to expensive emergency room treatments that they cannot afford.

A quick google search gives me conflicting reports. I get stats as low as 6% to as high at 30%. To be honest, I got the prison thing from something Geraldo said on Bill O'Reilly's (aka asshole) show. He said illegal immigrants commit crimes at a lower rate than citizens do. He might be right, he might be wrong, but it doesn't really matter. The point is, most illegal immigrants are good people who are just trying to make a living. On a side note, prisoners get free healthcare anyway.
