Back pocket openings are really a matter of preference. Some people like a simple slit in the back inner lining. Others like something fancier. The real consideration for those of us making and selling diapers is whether or not the pocket opening infringes on the patent on pocket openings.

Is there an advantage to this type of pocket vs. a back pocket? Not the back pocket mentioned at the end of this video, but the other type where you leave a space on the back between the inner and outer fabrics as you're sewing all the way around?

I"m not familiar with all the semantics of pocket making. When I learned how to make this for my diaper the tutorial I used called it a "welt pocket'. In other parts of the world I know that it is referred to as other things.
