  • "I wanted the blue-eyed motherfucker fired!" Haha.....

  • The music playing is vintage lol

  • For years people have talked about Bill Bonds challenging mayor Young to a boxing match. If someone has that video clip, please post it.

  • Sounds like it was during the Carter Administration

  • Давай по-новой, Миша, все хуйня :D

  • "This segment brought to you by Johnnie Walker, the finest of blended scotch whisky".

  • I do have to give Bill his props: He was an ''old school'' journalist who wasn't afraid to ask hard-hitting questions, and was not intimidated by power and authority. Todays punk, weak-kneed journalist could learn a lesson from his types.

  • I read Bill Bonds is doing a radio show on some small station. This piece sums up why he is such a classic. Make sure you listen to whole tape. It keeps running even when there is no video.

  • Someone somewhere out there has a video of Bill challenging Mayor Young to a boxing match on live tv. Whoever you are POST IT.

  • @airdriver The three biggest drunks in Detroit history: 1. Bill Bonds 2. Bob Allison (bowling for dollars), and Coleman Young (mayor).

  • @publicatdamagnificen where the hell did you get that Coleman Young was a drunk??? you haters kill me how every year you create new lies on a guy thats been dead for years. Show me anything that says Coleman was drunk in public from that era, anything. He didnt have to dive into the bottle to find the courage to fuck you asshole.

  • @DONNIMETROPOLIS313 NIGGA I LIVED IN DETROIT FOR OVER 35 YEARS! I had relatives who played poker with Coleman Young when he was mayor. I had relatives in the news industry who would interview him and tell us before the story hit the air, that him and his crew could smell liquor on his breath....While he was also wearing sunglasses indoors!

  • @publicatdamagnificen The Nigga as you so ignorantly put it is your Mommy, Who gives a fuck if a grown ass man drinks while playing poker, & Coleman Young smoked cigars too, So fuckin what? He wasnt a half baked alcoholic cokehead like Bill Bonds& he wasnt drunk at work either, youre a goddamned hating ass liar. I dont have to listen to bullshit stories from people what werent there, I know for a fact youre full of shit. There isnt a shortage of people that really knew Him in Detroit.

  • @DONNIMETROPOLIS313 Yo' momma's a dick-suckin' ass-takin' hoe.....blah blah blah . YOU NIGGERS ARE SO IGNINT!

  • Comment removed

  • COOL STUFF,,,,,,,

  • His daughter commited suicide.. now I know why.

  • @Mi37591 she didnt commit suicide, she was a drunk just like her dad, and he didnt try to discourage her, she inherited his disease of addiction and died coming home from Michigan State driving while rip roaring drunk. Instead of it being a wake up call because Bonds knew he was partly to blame he dug deeper into the bottle.

  • Hey... whatever happened to the "Bill Bonds 4 Life" video? I loved that one.

"White Castle, some Strohs, a car, and Bill Bonds... what more do you need?"

  • "Fuck 'em!"

  • My family all hated this drunken boob when i was a kid, but now that I'm grown I can watch the real Ron Burgundy all day and not get bored! Thanks for a great video!

  • One of the best! :)

  • Maybe call him "Bail Bonds" 'cuz you wish he needed 'em...

  • Bill Bonds! He was "The News". America had Walter Cronkite but Detroit had Bill Bonds. Have they named a school or library after Bill yet?

  • @JEDI7ACEN they normally dont name things after drunks, like he said, fuckem

  • I only wish the fair city of Buffalo could have TV news (or sports) reporters of Mr. Bonds' caliber.

  • @StukInBuf You had Bruce Nolan and Evan Baxter.

  • @WishesNetwork lmao

  • @WishesNetwork Ahh yes, Evan Backstabber..... err, Bastard..... err, Baxter! :D

  • Im from Detroit and this guy is the finest journalist Television ever created...I Just Love 'em....Told it like it was.

  • I think this happened back in the days when Bill was drinking whiskey for breakfast.

Someone needs to make a Bill O'Reilly/Bill Bonds mash up. The two videos were almost similar:).

  • The reason why Bill flipped out was because the story about the homeless people was written badly. These days, the current stock of "Talent" would have just read it as is and looked stupid in the process. Say what you will about Bill's drinking, arrogance and editorializing but he was, and still could be, a consummate newsman of the old school. Which isn't a bad thing at all.

  • @airdriver I agree that he was a real newsman, but he was still an asshole who was and still is an embarrassment to Detroit. Mort Crim was a real newsman, and he was a class act all the way. You don't have to be a fucked up asshole to be a professional with attention to detail. Bill Bonds sucks!!!

  • @dardennis i agree Mort Crim was my all time favorite for just that reason. Bill Bonds does suck.

  • Bill Bonds = Total cheeseball anchorman douchebag who thinks he's a bad ass. What a jerk! Everyone knows he's a drunk with a bad toupe who couldn't get along with his co-anchor women. He used to go to Red Wings games and wear this loud purple, double breasted sport jacket. This complete asshole is/was an embarrassment to the City of Detroit and it's suburbs.

  • @dardennis Thank You, for saying the emperor has no clothes, .....and hes drunk too.

  • Best tirade EVER!

  • Bill had a similar outburst while filming a Law Offices of Sam Bernstein commercial.

  • Bill Bonds was the best anchor this city has ever seen!

  • Bill Bonds was the shis. He was real about the the D.,thats the shit thats going on.channel 4,2 werent there yet.but Bill was is.

yeah there was Amrear Macumpsom(spelling, anyone?)on channel 50.but ol Bill was the best.

  • I grew up with Bill Bonds! He's fucking awesome!!!

  • "That's a keeper"

  • I disagree Julie...I miss his no-nonsense style...these glorified pretty boys that call themselves reporters nowadays are hacks.

  • I'd buy a couch or a bedroom set from him

  • I lived in Detroit from 1950 to 1970. I was drafted during Vietnam 1966 and when I returned i fucking left that hell hole for good. Now you can buy a house for 1 dollar.....WOW Detroit looks like the after math of a WW3....nuclear war!...But I remember Ray Lane he lived down the street from me. i went to school with Rita Bells son I was on the Johnny Ginger show and I met Soupy Sales at a Christmas event in 1956

  • I used to landscape this ass-hole's lawn in Bloomfield Hills MI.

  • LOL!!!

  • Wow. Just... wow. *Laughs*

  • DETROIT BABY!

  • wow i lived in detroit for 30 years and the news where part of our lives ! bill bonds ,diana lewis, mort crim, carmen harmen , eli zerit, phil purkins ! bill waz drunk poor basterd !

  • You forgot Amyre Makupson. :)

  • Small aside: remember Vic Caputo? he suddenly popped up on a Tucson news station around 1990. He by far was the class of the local bunch, but the station decided to go for a youth movement and canned him and other cast members. Now he still is retired here last I heard.

  • Bill Bonds has changed since the days of this video. He was clearly on coke when he made this. I think he has learned some lessons since then.

Just the same, there is no excuse for the comments he made on this tape. What a total asshole!

  • It's okay, since the news was taped and no kiddies were traumatized by this outtake. Like someone said earlier, he wasn't callously putting down the poor so much as getting pissed off over bad copy writing. If there were more Bill Bonds along my way I'd start watching the local news again.

  • i luv that mutha fucka!! the realist guy on the news!

  • I love scotch!!!

  • Bill Bonds is a Detroit TV news legend. I wish he was still doing newscasts.

  • Wow, someone has issues with poor people...

  • What an arrogant asshole. He had his comeuppance when Channel 7 let him go after repeated attempts for him to control his drinking.I think his daughter's death affected him.

  • he's perfectly right about everything. fuck poor people, let em starve,

  • I disagree.

  • @Juliethemaster

He IS what Detroit is, raw and real!! LONG LIVE BILL BONDS!!!!

  • @Juliethemaster Not only has he watched this, I think he may have been in it!

Personally I don't give a DARN, I think this is hilarious and for reasons I don't even understand, it just makes me respect Bill Bonds even more.

  • Bill is a legend in this town....he took no shit from anybody

  • Bill bonds wasnt a republican and would have asked tougher questions to george bush so how would he have made a good partner with bill o. He prolly would beat bill o up after the show in a drunken rage. coleman was a charcter 2 if asnyone can find the video of coleman greeting reporters by sayin aloha muthafuckas that would be great

  • rug-headed prima donna

  • Bill Bonds was a drunking cokehead, everybody who lives in the "D",would know this.Bill O'Reilly and Bill Bonds are one and the same.

  • @Papicholo1 complete drunken cokehead

  • what a dick.

  • Bonds is KING!! I lived in Lansing for awhile when Ch 53 axed their news dept., and then struck a deal to get a 'feed' from WXYZ News. My buddies and I would get together just to watch Bonds. Ofcourse he's a crazy fucker, but he's a human being. Lansing never had anyone even close to this guy! Love ya, Billy!!

  • exactly.... its funny to watch all these people talk crap when you know they arent perfect either. BONDS 4 LIFE!

  • I always knew Bill Bonds was a crazy mofo. :D

  • the christian bale of his time lol YOU GO BILL !!

  • that is one cool motherfucker

  • It was all part of it back them. An angry reporter for angry times in Detroit. He's being an asshole here, but just blowing off steam. Thing is, I bet this wasn't uncommon when they were taping. The has to be more clips of like this out there.

Remember, we also had a angry Detroit mayor too, who would give it the same way. Any video or audio of Coleman Young would be awsome too.

Don't bother going back and forth about those two. They were both tough motherfuckers from Detroit. Enough said

  • I believe I caught Bill Bonds on some kind of Oprah knock-off out of Detroit in the late 80's, where the subject of the discussion was alcoholism. Bonds was on a guest panel, and at the end of the show while the credits were rolling, Bonds is berating the host and other TV staffers, saying "while I was an alcoholic and coming to work drunk, all you people were actually ENABLING me!" I thought, holy cow, blaming other people because you poured booze down your own throat and went to work!!!!

  • Lighten up people. He's an ass we know. Still funny though

  • even before Billo the clown's meltdown!

  • Im bill bonds nothing is new good night LOL

  • That's a keeper!

  • my friend who works at greektown casino saw him there, to which he said "hey bill, what kinda deal can u give me on furniture?" in reference to him doing the gardner white spots...to which a drunk bill replied "no interest till your FUCKIN' dead!!"

    true story

  • gopconservative: There's a higher percentage of the black community on welfare, but THERE'S ALWAYS BEEN MORE WHITE PEOPLE ON WELFARE THAN BLACK PEOPLE......Now, it's time for you to continue to suck the dick and swallow the cum of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mike Savage!

  • I loved that guy.

  • 3:18 THAT'S MORE BETTER! Thank you.....

  • Bill Bonds was awesome!!!I remember when he challenged Coleman Young to a charity boxing match!!!

  • Sometimes I found Bill Bonds irritating, but I loved him because he was the only one who dared to challenge Coleman Young, and do so in a very outspoken manner.

  • fuck u

  • Fuck you,motherfucker---Bill Bonds was a good reporter, but he was also a arrogant son of a bitch and a damn drunk-----if he wasn't a white man, they would have fired his ass long before the late '90's---seriously. And how dare you call Coleman Young a n*****, you asshole. Young had to pick up what left of Detroit after the riots---it wasn't his damn fault the city became so fucked up---it was because a lot of the Big 3 plants left or closed down and took the city's tax base with them, you asshole

  • i grew up in Detroit watching this arrogant asshole..my whole family loathed him

  • yes, i smoke bobos all day and night

  • Gopconservative: YOU ARE AN ILLITERATE, IN-BRED, CRACKER WHO LIVES ON THE DICK OF RUSH LIMBAUGH, SAN HANNITY, AND PAT BUCHANAN.

  • he reminds me of an over toasted bagel without the lox.

  • Perhaps the greatest anchor in Detroit TV News history!!

  • That's right!!!!

  • fyi that was the alcohol that was talking not bill bonds

  • What a tired, pathetic excuse -- I trust even Bill Bonds wouldn't have used this sorry crutch -- "It was the BOOZE talkin', not me!" If you're gonna shoot from the hip, don't hide behind the bottle.

  • Bill was Detroit's answer to Fox News' Bill O'Reilly. LOL ! I swear Bonds and O'Reilly would make a perfect news team....almost like brothers.

  • This guy is just having some fun, unlike BillO, who is just so full of anger.. No comparison between the two IMHO..

  • I worked in Ann Arbor and helped Bill one time and being from Traverse City, had no idea who he was. He seemed like a nice guy and then all my coworkers told me who he was.

    This clip made me laugh.

  • I just watched Bill Bonds anchor the 7pm Newscast as WXYZ TV, Detroit, celebrates 60 years of Action News. It was such a joy to see Bill at the anchor desk again. No matter what is ever said negative about him...we all have battles and vices to fight. Bill Bonds is quite simply the best news anchorman Detroit Television has ever seen! Even with his admitted "inflated ego", he was then and still is the creme of the crop. Nobody comes close!

  • totally unprofessinal!

  • back when WXYZ was O&Oed, and waaay before they got sold

  • classic; what an asshole.

  • It wasn't on air.

  • hahahaha these where the days lol

  • This took place in 1983, the only year Baltimore and Detroit were in the race for the division title. Baltimore won that year, Detroit the next year.

Bill Bonds was the best. All messed up but the best!

  • I agree! Bill was the best. I can't help but wonder what he'd say about this current state of affairs in tne embattled city of Detroit. He'd completely own Kwame!!

  • wow billy i wonder if gardner white know about this.

  • if you see kay there bill... eh? eh? how about that eh? hehehehehehehehe... back at yah bill.

  • I love the sarcastic asskissing by the producer. "Yeah ur indespensible to the new team Bill." lol Its like he's dealing with a six yr old. I would have just told him to say the fucking line already.

  • Its Ron Burgandy. Stay Classy San Diego

  • Typical Billy, but OMG what a potty-mouth.

  • Bill Bonds was a great news anchor!!! The fights with Coleman Young were awesome! Yea, he was a drunk, but funny as hell. This clip is a scream!!!

  • He says the exact same thing Bill O'Reilly said when he was caught having a meltdown.

"What does that mean? I don't understand what it means?"

I guess these middle-age white newscasters spend more time coiffing their hair than trying to read.

Everything in Detroit seems to be in disrepair, including the newscasters. Pathetic.

  • I hated that asshole when he was a newscaster and I hate the drunken idiot now. Nice wig. I won't be shopping at Gardner-White anymore because they had the bad sense to hire the dipshit to be their spokesperson.

  • Man, that's a scream! How drunk was he in that clip, I wonder? I never liked him much but evidently he had a pretty good sense of humour. That wasn't just some Brockmanesque prima-donna's tantrum.

  • I remember Bill Bonds and Coleman Young going at it on television when I was a kid.....hilarious!

He was an awesome newsman...drunk or not.

  • Must be drunk.

  • Maybe! I think he's pissed off at the lousy copy writing. Bill was an alcoholic but he also was a old style journalist who knew how to write.

  • I like Bill Bonds

  • Bill Bond is without a doubt the best anchorman ever, Detriot was lucky to have him.

  • lmao...fuck him

  • I can remember this guy get busted in the metro Detroit area for drunk driving all the time...

  • Bonds was a crazy bastard. Awesome clip.

  • This might have been 1983 if he's talking of the pennnant race between the Tigers and the Orioles.

  • You're right jjdvideo, Sept of '83 the Tigers lost a pennant race to Baltimore. (Too bad baseball doesn't have those anymore) The Tigers finished strong but the Orioles won something like 35 of their last 45 games. No way to beat that.

  • Of course, the Tigers returned the favor the following year, winning the World Series. I think the Orioles finished 3rd in '85.

  • But this set looks different, I remember in 1986 or just before that there set had a blue backgroyund and that ugly-assed white desk, with a large pitcure of the United States in the back.

  • Bill Bonds was on 101.1 WRIF this past week. He was quite entertaining.

  • "I wanted the blue-eyed motha-f**ka to get fired" lmao

  • That A-hole made more money than most network anchormen.

  • bill bonds is terrible......fuck dat heartless bastard!!!

  • oh, so you're black, poor and live in detroit? that sucks...

  • bill bonds rules

  • OMG, this is funny. I hated Bill Bonds (sorry - just my opinion). He thought very highly of himself, and went to New York if I remember correctly. Didn't make it.

  • He did go to WABC in New York, which at the time was a sister station to WXYZ. That was around '74 or '75. I heard the reason he went to New York was to fill in for their primary anchor, but I could be wrong.

  • No, you're right :-)

  • Correct, Bill Bonds went to WABC to replace Bill Beutel on the 6pm and 11pm Eyewitness News when he went to anchor ABC's AM America. When Beutel was let go from AM America after 11 months on the job, Beutel went back to WABC and Bonds returned to WXYZ.

  • lmao

  • I can remember when living in Detroit and watching Channel 7 news there were times Bill seemed to be going off the teleprompter script during a live broadcast and told it just the way it was. There is and will only ever be one Bill Bonds, a true Detroit legend.

  • Remember Kelly & Company?

  • Yeah, check out one of my clips of the show. Marilyn is interviewing Mary Wilson of the Supremes.

  • Yes,

Loved it when I could see it, in college then, no TIVO then.

    How about Count Scarry?

  • yah makes me want to go out to gardner white.

  • Ah but he was dispensible. The community finally got fed up with his alcoholic antics and superego. Good riddance.

  • ole billy boy. One of the most racist, and most drunkest news reporter that ever did it.

  • He may have been a drunken jerk, but he told it like it was and had the extremely admirable trait of being ignoring the Orwellian politically correct movement. We need more people who are not afraid to tell it like it is, even if you wouldn't want to live next door to them.

  • Bill Bonds is my guy. I grew up watching him on the News on Ch. 7 LOL!

  • Must be drunk.

  • I lived in Detroit up until 1981 when I finally escaped. I have these questions:

    1. What ever happened to Bill Bonds?

    2. Didn't he have a run-in fight with a guy in a car who was tail-gating him too close? I seem to remember something like that.

  • I hate bill bonds, he was arrested for drunk driving, and now he does garden White furniture comericals.

  • Sometime in the mid-'90s Bill Bonds retired or was forced out of newscasting. From 2001-07 he did commercials for furniture firm, Gardner White. Now in 2008 he's doing commercials for attorney Sam Bernstein.

  • Bill's last newscast with channel 7 came on a Friday where the lead story was about an on stage orgy at a Luther Cambell concert in Tampa. Bill, on air, protested doing the story. That weekend he was caught DWI in Bloomfield after which he was fired from Ch.7. He then hosted a short lived interview show on Fox2, returned to 7 to do commentaries and then retired from tv news. Now he does commercials. I wish he's come back to cover Kwame or write a book about his career.

  • Bonds is a Detroit original....like the pot hole and corrupt politics

  • what an early christmas present!

    thanks for posting...

  • In my OPINION, Bill Bonds should have been the Mayor of Detroit...he loved Detroit...If we could do it all over again.....
