  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so sweet

  • i'm not crying it's just raining on my face

  • I love Amy Lee's version (heck, I love the entire Muppets Green Album), but there's nothing like the original. And Amy Lee isn't quite as huggable as Robin.

  • @FarmWifesMemoir She's a different type of -able, WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE

  • he is the cutest thing eva i would love to have a pet robin. i downloaded the muppets app the other day and had to uninstall it because it was the people singing not the muppets! :-( I LOVE MUPPETS!!!!!!! :-)

  • I remembered this song because my son (14 yrs) was sitting on the stairs (with his iPod). I mentioned the song to him and almost recalled the first verse of the lyrics. Had to find the video :)

  • Ahhh, this is better!!! I accidentally stumbled on the Amy Lee version and was a bit frightened. As much as I love Amy Lee and Evanescence, she is one of the many people who should leave all Muppety Goodness alone - Robin does an incredible job of singing this song an nobody else should even try to do it better.

P.S. I stumbled on the Amy Lee version while trying to find Robin's version on MP3 (Amazon) ... can anyone help me out?

  • Beautiful song, I love Kermit's nephew Robin

  • The 9 people who disliked this must have issues

  • I don't like the version from Amy Lee... To be honest I never heard of her until I heard of the Green Album... O-o'

  • awwwwwwwww!!!!!

  • the cute frog ahhh

  • @MattyIce61 It's from a poem written by A. A. Milne. Y'know, the guy who wrote Winnie the Pooh?

  • @MattyIce61 seriously? You dont have to like or listen to the song, but please keep your comments to yourself, no one cares to read your malicious words of iggnorance. People please stop the use of the "R" word. Think long and hard about your use of hateful words, before you use or type them. You have no clue who your offending purple, green polka dot, rainbow colored and all stripes if you like, we all blleed the same color. Lets stop the hate!

  • Thumbs up if your a true Muppet fan and wasn't brought here by Amy Lee.

  • Psylover02 says

I am an ardent muppet fan and have been since I was a tadpole.... Oh and who the F*** is Amy Lee

  • @psylover02 Amy Lee is the lead singer of Evanescence

  • Very beautiful poetic song!

  • thumbs up if you like this better than the amylee version

  • what is his illness

  • had no idea amy lee covered this, Im just here because I was watching the jim henson memorial service.

  • What the hell happened to Robin? We haven't seen him in like 20 years.

  • @RageTreb He was in the ne Muppet movie. He had a none speaking role

  • 8 people tripped down the stairs.

  • This brings back such memories! Thank you!

  • oh man the 2011 movie was great but I have to rent the old muppet shows again.

  • Thumbs up if the fact you remembered how awesome The Muppet Show was brought you here,

(That's what the kids are saying now, right?)

  • soooooo cute!

  • I wonder how Statler and Waldorf reacted to that (:

  • thumbs up if Ricky Gervais brought you here

  • @arcadefire123 I usually hate the "thumbs up if" comments but I loved him tormenting Robin Ince with this so i thumbed up :)

  • I love how you can see the hole in the staircase for the puppeteer's hand. lol

  • @bluesplus1 I love how people complain to try and cheapen otherwise wonderful things.

  • @Kristiekins2

I love how you took a joke as a complaint. >_>

It was a simple observation, nothing more. Doesn't make the movie any less awesome.

  • Gonna be honest, this always leaves me close to tears. Something really sweet about it

  • Robin's voice always makes me want to cry... It's so sweet and almost always sad somehow...

  • I haven't seen Robin in any of the movie trailers. I hope they didn't leave him out.

  • @mohinderbauer He's in the background in one scene, but sadly he doesn't speak.

  • I have to make a Robin replica now!!

  • Brought me back to my childhood... : )

  • that staircase has 12 steps so how can he really be in the middle?

  • My childhood brought me here.

  • not gonna lie-i felt like crying :,(

  • Not ashamed to say the honesty misted my eyes a bit

  • I sang this as a lullabye to my two kids. So lovely.

  • as someone who suffers from being bi-polar, the old term being manic depressive, this poem by aa milne is perfectly suited as a way of expressing how we just wish for that middle stair

  • I didn't need anyone to bring me here, I brought myself.

  • Father used to sing this before he took me up to bed as a child <3 and now I shall sing this to my baby sister when she is born.

  • 7 people were crying so hard they hit the wrong button!

  • thumbs up if who the hell is Amy Lee!!!

  • @ProfToke420 Ever think to Google?

  • @EmBotBeepBeep ever think to shut up?

  • @ProfToke420 Ooooh good one. That's ok, your razor-sharp wit makes up for your inability to do two seconds of research.

  • @ProfToke420 did you ever think to shut up

  • @MegaTorivega why do you wanna jump in this tweeker?

  • This is so gorgeous and heart wrenching

  • legendary frog if there ever was one.

  • The lyrics are moving, the concept is beautiful, the song is wonderful. The frog is adorable! I was born after Muppets ran on tv, but my parents made sure I watched this quality program. Great stuff.

  • @bethkenna7 ditto!

  • i love the muppets and i hate amy lee

  • @santiagocanotorres wtf is wrong with u!!! i mean the muppets r good and all but so is amy lee! so stop tolling!! >.>

  • Between this and Rainbow Connection I dunno which is worse (in terms of how depressing they are!) I mean they're beautiful songs, excellent, but a bit too sad. Poor Kermit :/

  • @tlpeterson LOL goth shit is amazing. I luv mie goth shiht.

  • *puts on hipster glasses* I loved this song before Amy Lee.

  • @MagicEmperor who is Amy Lee?

  • @Revinita Amy Lee is an American singer. She is the lead singer of the rock band, Evanescence. She covered "Halfway Down the Stairs" in the recent cover album, Muppets: The Green Album.

  • @MagicEmperor Thanks

  • @Revinita No prob!

  • i like amy lees version also(:

  • Wow that song moved me to tears.

  • My mumma used to sing me this song when I was little <3

  • Hello ricky gervais

  • Muooet Show wasn't for kids. It was a family show. I love the Amy Lee cover of this, too. And Amy's Easier to look at.

  • @colinbray I don't think the Muppet Show was aimed at kids really. This is probably why people like me - an adult - love this clip.

  • @TejMulen You are made of stone. If you don't like it, why watch it, let alone comment on it! Good night & bad dreams palito

  • I <3 ROBIN THE FROG

  • I must say, shared second place of most beautiful Muppet song/performance with "Saying Goodbye" from "The Muppets Take Manhattan" and of course, second to Rainbow Connection.

In my humble opinion of course, all three of them always brings tears to the old eyes... Jim Henson; truly a man of magic. <3

  • i love this song . it reminds me of when my dads mum died . i was only one week old when she died . the one memory i hold is when i used to cuddle her and pay no atention to enyone else she used to cuddle me till i fell asleep i still listen to this song when ever i think of her . i wish she was still alive . love you nan best wishes and best kisses

  • this was one of the songs the muppet performers did for Jim Henson's funeral this is one of his favorites

  • Thumbs up if Amy Lee brought you here

  • Anyone know where I can get this song?

  • Hes gonna have a heck of a time getting upstairs then... lol

  • i like this version too but Amy lee's version is awesome...:)

  • This song has a very deep meaning, at least as I see it.. Its both optimistic and pessimistic. I kinda relate to this song.. Weird I never heard of it before!

  • For those interested in Amy Lee's version: it got leaked. Not by me just so you know. I just listened to it, it's quite good. It's on YouTube now, though I don't think Amy would be pleased that it got leaked.

  • when I was young, I saw the Muppet's show

  • this music will be perfect for the voice of amy lee <3

  • is this based on a true story?

  • Haha, classic

  • I loved this song as a kid. I remember being so annoyed that our staircase had an even number of stairs so I couldn't sit right in the middle.

  • I think he sounds so cute when he says all sorts of funny things run round my head

  • ^L^ BEAUTIFUL xoxox love it

  • if he was an optimist if would be halfway up the stairs

  • @krackpot Not if his goal was to be at the bottom of the stairs :)

  • @colinbray Mister Rogers was pretty successful for DECADES without being loud & obnoxious

  • Aww, that tugged at my heart strings =') Lovely!

  • This is brilliant wee melody love the hidden metaphors

  • This song inspires me to draw :)

And wow, what a lovely song. There is something so very touching about it.

  • no digáis que esta canción no os hace llorar!

  • This makes me cry. I also lose it when Kermit sings the Rainbow Connection. And I REALLY lose it when Rugby the Tiger sings the song to Mew the Mouse when he thinks he's frozen under the Christmas Tree in Jim Henson's 'The Christmas Toy'. It's amazing how Muppets can be so funny and so very emotional and touching at the same time. Henson was a genius.

  • I LOVED this song as a kid. But I think I've only just realised how it's totally a metaphor for life... Touching.

So many memories. I have The Muppets Album on LP vinyl when i was a little boy. I played it over and over again and loved it...

  • @theatreodyssey we had the album also. we played that record till we wore it out. luckily my dad recorded it onto a tape first so we could keep listening to it. I love this song.

  • Thanks for posting this. It rekindled a sweet childhood memory.

  • Tell me the truth , did this not bring a tear to your eye when it was first broadcasted? I then cried again when he played Tim in the Muppet christmas carol. I know i am sad but if people were half as nice as Robin was then the world be a beautiful place. Thank you for posting.

  • I always have moments halfway on the stairs just sitting there and Robin always comes up and then I smile...... lovely......

  • I loved that performance; it seemed so soothing and so relaxing. Robin sure does wonders with songs like this.

  • I came home from work tonight in a fed up mood after working most of the day. I saw my framed picture of Robin advertising half way down the stairs by AA Milne and it cheered me up right away.

  • so melancholic for such a little one!

AA Milne sure is fab, the gorgeous piano makes this poem even more beautiful

  • I'v had the book with the original poem in i'v had it since I was 1-I cried love robin xx

  • Remember watching this its first time on TV back in the 70's(?). My dad, sister and I laughed til we couldn't get our breath. My mom, sweetest lady in the world, got weepy and said "Maybe he needs help". It's 2010 and this vid still delivers. Very cute little frog, very sweet little song. It never gets old. Love ya Robin.

  • robin's genius lies in his innate understanding of camera angles. He is a great, great artist.

  • What are you doing there 37snicky ???? I thought you'd gone up to the toilet,,,, nevermind stopping halfway to have a little song!!!!

  • @dabsy71 Well dabsy 71 darling I'd rather be all cute and have feet dangling than look like geeky beaker!!!!!!xxxx

  • aw sweet!

  • Love this song. Lost my mum about a year ago n the one memory I hold dear was of when we were both sat on the stairs and she sang this to me to cheer me up. Hadn't heard it since I was little and couldn't remember the words, but yet, mum could :) happy times xxx R.I.P mum 29.10.2009 xxx

  • @Munchkinzi May God bless and keep your Mom's soul.

  • @Munchkinzi that's a beautiful memory to have.

  • @Munchkinzi lost my mum over 10 years ago, and still share very simular memories to you :-)

  • @Munchkinzi (Wipes eyes)....Listening to this whilst reading your post got to me, so sorry for your loss.

  • @Munchkinzi I know this may be a bit creepy. But you need a hug?

  • Love it. :’) THE MUPPETS NEED TO COME BACK! AND SOON!

  • @FloProproductions Sorry, I think you'd have to bring Jim Henson back to life and get back the rights that Disney owns to make decent a decent Muppet Show. (Although, "The Muppet's A Christmas Carol," made shortly after Jim's death, directed by son Brian- I thought they did a pretty good job considering the lack of original Muppet cast.)

  • @Fight4Faulkner Yeah, but it would be nice for people to the see the muppets once more! There is a new film coming out.... I think next year, it’s called “The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made” But it sounds like it’s going to be the last of the Muppets. =(

  • @Fight4Faulkner Muppet Christmas Carol had all the original cast members besides Jim himself, and possibly Richard Hunt who died soon afterwards. Other than that no one had left yet. But now with Jerry Nelson retiring there are only 3 of the originals left. The muppets are, sadly, pretty much gone, but better for them to disappear than to be ruined by dragging it out too far. We all miss you Jim...

  • Bravo!!!!

  • Try telling the young folk of today that this once got into the charts! They wouldn't believe a word of it! ;) Lovely.
