while some consider this a US defeat it wasnt. first it wasnt even a war it was a police action or conflict and the objective was to stop the spread of communism which it did, while the south fell to the north eventually it didnt take long for them to gain independence as communism fell in the late 80's

I used to cross-train with the Israeli paratrooper you are right they are a very dicipline and damm good soldiers. I have a very high respect for their Soldiers. I have yet to witness any support elements around Europe or anywhere is better.

The British armed with state of the art .458 cal (485 grain bullet) rifle of the day, about 1500 men at Isandlwana were annihilated by the Zulu's armed with short stabbing spear and cowhide shield! The British officers were so arrogant they had not even set a defensive layout!
The subsequent battle of 139 British soldiers at Rorke's Drift, successfully defended their position from the same enemy. No Arrogance there.

As an example, say we were ranking a rifle, and say you had two versions of the M16 manufactured in two different countries. Say the US model was poorer in its manufacture but the ammunition was more superior, both considered we may come up on top. But this is just an example of the point.
@philip728164 - I did hear that one thing that helped to prop up the Australian armed forces in their ranking was for so long their infantry rifle was still 7.62mm same as the M60 that they used. Now they have moved to 5.56mm maybe that will change their ranking to 4th. On the other hand pretty much most armies in the world have moved to 5.56mm ammunition, in which case the ranking won't shift.
Look more into janes. com and there you will get lots of independent military assesments.

The Vietnam war started because American president Eissenhower did not want communism to spread throughout the world and eventually to America
The basic answer is that the U.S. was asked by France, via NATO, to keep the communists from "taking over" the French Territory. We sent troops over only to advise, and from there WE were in it and it just went "to hell in a handbasket" to quote a friend of mine. We left over 58,000 Brothers and Sisters there

@XjerichoX12 we wouldn't have lost 58 thousand men and women in Vietnam if the are media didn't go ape shit over the Tet offensive after the war in interviews with Vietnamese generals they stated that the offensive was a massive failure and they had no chance of continuing to war so they were going to go to the peace tables until they heard the American public get demoralized by it.

I get the idea of the song with the action part, but glorifying the massacre of human beings is wrong, in any war situation, every soldier deserves respect from those who do not know what its like, you have to remember that the Korean soldiers most likely had no choice but to fight just like the Americans didn't, When politicians argue, soldiers die. remember and respect the sacrifice all soldiers make.

@morriseo17 to omit, change, or "sugar-coat" any aspect of war is to disrespect it. If they had to live it, the least we can do is try to see it as well. Glorifying war comes with everything that war had. The glory of war is not a good one, but one of death, gore, and destruction. It is a glory to be remembered for being a disgusting horrid thing.

It boils down to how the soldiers in general treat other soldiers. WWII Germans treated their enemies like shit, Koreans did too, Vietnamese too, and every terrorist group since.
Sure the average joe probably wasn't too bad from each army, but war crimes alarmingly more frequent on the enemy sides. I agree that glorifying death isn't correct though.

@USMC28929 As a US paratrooper I tell my Soldiers that we are the best and I still believe in that. I used to cross-train with the Israeli paratrooper you are right they are a very dicipline and damm good soldiers. I have a very high respect for their Soldiers. However, I hope that you make that remarks as reference to the US Marines not the US Army. I base my remark on front Soldiers and the support elements. I have yet to witness any support elements around Europe or anywhere is better.

@sadsac527 we should've gotten involved but we shouldn't have used only 500k men. Fucking Johnson wanted us 2 conduct a limited war. We should've bombed the hell out of those bastards. Also we should've put in 7million troops in. Also after the war the returning troops were shunned for serving their own country. Just like me uncle.

The British armed with state of the art .458 cal (485 grain bullet) rifle of the day, about 1500 men at Isandlwana were annihilated by the Zulu's armed with short stabbing spear and cowhide shield! The British officers were so arrogant they had not even set a defensive layout!
The subsequent battle of 139 British soldiers at Rorke's Drift, successfully defended their position from the same enemy. No Arrogance there.

@philip728164 and @XtraDimensiionz - Have a look at Janes independent military intelligence assesments. They recently posted a public article on US troop training issues on the janes. com search for it, makes an interesting read.
Which unfortunately helps to lower our ranking :( People of the US armed forces, please tell your bro's to avoid fast food like the plague, get healthy and buy meat fruit and vegetables from the supermarket and cook :)

@philip728164 and @XtraDimensiionz - Army rankings take on many different elements and even when an army may have many sophisticated things, they are no better than the men using them.
As an example, say we were ranking a rifle, and say you had two versions of the M16 manufactured in two different countries. Say the US model was poorer in its manufacture but the ammunition was more superior, both considered we may come up on top. But this is just an example of the point.

@philip728164 - I did hear that one thing that helped to prop up the Australian armed forces in their ranking was for so long their infantry rifle was still 7.62mm same as the M60 that they used. Now they have moved to 5.56mm maybe that will change their ranking to 4th. On the other hand pretty much most armies in the world have moved to 5.56mm ammunition, in which case the ranking won't shift.
Look more into janes. com and there you will get lots of independent military assesments.

If I believed it 100% and forced the men to keep running up a hill into automatic rifle fire (when we really should be dug in) and we all get killed or wounded. @XtraDimensiionz - It is very effective to have a healthy sense of confidence in yourself and the training you have been given.
Let your confidence remain at the healthy mark - if you let it go to the point of underestimating your enemy or disrespecting your enemy.. you will have a short trip to a stretcher or a body bag. One of my company was shot in the leg and shattered his bone, he's alive. But he is more vocal at this than me. Why? As he was that arrogant before he got shot.
