  • i think that song at 4:20 is cissy strut, by the meters.

  • 4:30 That is Cissy Strut by The Meters, did Jeff Beck do this version? I like it... a little more rocky than funk, but I like played both ways.

  • Funky Meters.....Sissy Strut.

  • Phil, its Cissy strut by the meters, later covered by the awesome john mayer :)

Love you bro, awesome playing as always!

  • Sweet ax, wish it were mine, simple and perfect. Except i prefer the strings on hard tail do in through the body.

  • Phil x police

  • the selector acts as a quick tone switch it goes from full tone to half tone to tone fully off

  • A cross between a V-neck and a C-neck? Maybe a U-neck.

  • @MadSpectro7 i think it's called a soft V

  • If it only has one pick up, what does the selector switch do? Phil you rock!!!

  • @1991stratplus the "bridge" position bypasses the tone control completely for a super-bright tone. the middle position allows you to use the tone control as normal. the "neck" position is like having the tone control pre-set to 0 so you get a really muffled tone. at least i think that's the way it's wired.

  • Would have been nice to see you work with the low-pass-filter a little.

  • song at 4.57 is "Chameleon" by Herbie Hancock.

  • the song at 4:59 is Chameleon by the Head hunters i Played it in jazz band its a great tune

  • It's Cissy Strut by The Meters, circa '68. Hey Phil, DoubleDougy (Messenger) here!

  • I was never sure about you until 2m40s then holy fuck thats the shit right there -

  • How come you took the ash tray off?

  • @DIGITALH1TMAN I don't think he was the one that did. And if he did it might've affected the sound for better in his opinion, like when you take a pickup cover off a humbucker and it sounds more aggressive.

  • @DIGITALH1TMAN because most people take them off to play now because they hinder playing and don't let you palm mute at all which is part of pretty much any rock music

  • OMG!!! i love this guy!

  • 1:44 Funk 49, 2:06 Dancing Days, 2:22 Can't Explain, 2:52 Brass In Pocket, 3:10 Chain Gang, 3:40 Communication Breakdown, 6:38 Back In The USSR.

  • why does it have a pickup selector?

maybe a dumb question, but it doesn't seem like one to me...

  • would that be a "U" neck? a cross between C and V

  • @TeamXTREMEPANTERA nope. I think he's thinking of a really soft V. A "U" is basically a club.

  • does anyone know what song he plays at 6:47?

  • What the song at 6:38? pls

  • the human juke box

  • so the older esquires have one bridge pickup. some of them were fitted with 2 pickups. but on the one with a single pickup, why is there a pickup selecter?

  • @DJsqueely When the selector is pushed forward it completely cuts the tone.
