I don't think an atheist can just convince a theist to not believe in God. The theist has to go through their own mental/emotional process, and even then they likely won't drop their faith in God completely. They might drop their beliefs in the bible being the perfect word of God, or change religions, or drop religion but not God, etc.
We don't deconvert because we do not condone homosexuality and other immoral activity... it's that simple. 80+ percent of all homosexual men and woman, bisexual, drug user, HIV/AIDS victims are ATHEISTS.
@moopism Okay, 80+ percent of over 4,000 YouTube atheists that responded to a survey are homosexual, bisexual, drug users, or HIV/AIDS victims are ATHEIST. You are probably one of them, so give it a rest-- actually get some help. You need it.
@RayTech70 lol, okay. so nearly every genius, nearly every brilliant scientist, great philosophers, all of those people are just the worst right. if it wasnt for people who cared about if what they believed was true, we'd still be in the stone ages practicing the beliefs that you hold dear. also, fun fact for a dumbass theist, check out the religiosity in the prison population. overwhelming amount of christians in there. oops, there goes your argument
@sansdeity420 atheists represent only 10% of the population in America. Additionally, many are like politicians: lying about their status to get what they want. Many people turn to God when they are in a crisis so 1st statement is intangible. Outside of an evil genius madman, I don't measure a persons worth with regard to what religion they belong to. I do, however, find it remarkable to see a scientist maintain faith-- it's equally impressive as an atheist joining a church to me.
@RayTech70 - Ray all you are is a worthless brainwashed asshole. The United States is a secular country. in another generation over 50% will be non Christian. Don't come to my page and call me a sissy. I am 6 foot 2 and 255 lbs. I will beat the living crap out of you and shove that crucifux up your faggot christian ass!
@RayTech70 You wrote: "...many people turn to God when they are in a crisis..."
Do you mean atheists? Which god(s) do they turn to? Where did you get this information?
I ask because I've never turned to any god when in crisis, and I've had my share. It wouldn't occur to me, any more than turning to Santa would. If you want to know something about atheists, ask atheists, not theists. And don't make up crap about us because it feeds your beliefs. It just makes you look silly.
Reading Christopher Hitchens' book "God Is Not Great" really opened my eyes to the harm of religious faith in the world and in myself. Maybe some people can really read that book and retain faith but I couldn't.
did anyone notice that no priest pastor or anyone part of the higher christian hierarchy ever call on the atheist experience? or why we dont have a christian experience show
Deconversion is a process. I started as a Christian because my mother was. Then I realized that the Bible had to be at least partly mythical. Then I started saying I really didn't believe the Bible much, but I was still a Christian. Then I started saying I still believed in God, but wasn't really a Christian. Then I was a Deist, then an Agnostic and finally realized I was really an atheist. The best we can do is help people along on that journey. Indoctrination is hard to overcome.
I was never religious. Even as a kid I saw it for what it was; mythology.
But you know, I'm just really smart and awesome, whilst most people inversely are not very smart or awesome.
I mean if I look at photo's of my old classmates currently they all got fat and have boring jobs and boring families.
Me I excersize often, so I'm not fat. And I've travelled alot and am not committed to anyone. I'm just that awesome. And most people cannot be expected to be nearly as awesome as me.
I am a born again athiest. FREE at last from fear, guilt and the control of a falsness that was programmed into me since a child. Religion is is the true evil on this planet. To anyone who is struggling with making the decision to end your religious beliefs just take the step and you will experience a true freedom from guilt and fear. Realize that your current religious reality was programmed into you for a self policing. Also realize that the christian religion is a copy of many other religions
People who deconvert are brave. Those who do not in the face of overwhelming evidence and despite the inability to vocalize why they still believe...are not brave (in my opinion).
This is one great video. It deals with a very daily based thing in our lives. I do agree with them that you first value more reasoning and critical thinking, then it get`s easier to go from a theistic point of view to a deistict point and when you keep on questioning your doubts and thoughts, you no more find any good reason to believe in the supernatural ( god, gods, deities, faries, soul, ETs, ghosts, and so on ...)
I thought she's mention her husband on a video or too. I remember when went on some trip and took photos. SO I'm about 90% certain, because I can't remember which clip it was
