This song seems more like the verse for a song, it goes no where. It has little too know emotion. It would be nice with more. I like Radiohead but I'm not a huge fan. These guys could learn something from some of their progressive counterparts. Bands like Tool and Dream Theater. You got to build suspense. This just doesn't do it for me.

quite simply bands will always change direction with their music, if they just released the same albums over and over again it would just get stale, boring and would never be as loved as the 1st time round, radiohead COULD released another bends but it wudnt be as gd or original, so the bands still gonna keep on changing whether you like it or not, if not then just listen to their songs you do like then!

jHutch: There are plenty of bands out there who never change direction, I'd go as far as to say the majority. perfect examples being RHCP and Oasis. some bands don't like to deviate from their comfort zones. Radiohead on the other hand seem to relish actively stepping out of their comfort zone. and the results are nearly always spectacular. Honestly, how many bands out there could go from the likes of Creep, to Nice dream, to Airbag, to Idioteque, HTDC, I Might Be Wrong, The Gloaming, Reckoner?

We're all fans here, but I think the criticism is spot on. It's the same endless drum pattern, same riff (different notes), vocal phrasing, song structure.. I would not be surprised if this song was a cast out from the In Rainbows session.
