a Blessed life lives ever on, yeah. In spirit I do hold an open heart and endeavor to topple the nonsense with the hard stone of heart and soul... carrying truth, this child's mind's eye will never close. forget myself often, my purpose is yet distilled. Ache and knowing make this so.
thank you gil for all the times you sang this to me.. you are with the ancestors now..safe..back home..AFRIKA!! our spirits will meet again in this lifetime and beyond.. pure love always..
I always felt that this song was the flip side of his more political work. In other words, there's a struggle, but this song shows what the struggle is for: the right to live life well, to not have anyone stop you from enjoying the simple things of life, because they matter. Rest in peace, thanks for everything you gave us. Sorry you didn't have an easier time.
@jolcom yes, indeed, & literally the flipside of the johannesburg 45, which i bought after seeing him perform both live on SNL in 1976, with Richard Pryor hosting. Wow, what a record, A & B sides. God bless you, GSH, RIP.
if any of us could walk in his shoes we wouldn"t be able to stand. this brother has held the hope in hope together for so many of us. only wish i could do something for him. the struggle goes on. just look around i hope you find a lovely day some place too,
@kimouts No Gill was never a Druggie .... He has always tried to help his people to understand that we are the subject of the Enemy. The industry has made it difficult for people (artist) to spread the good news, it would rather employ those whom claim to be artist to lead us into temptation that will Destroy our Souls. Don't get me wrong, Gill will always be a ray of HOPE in the darkness of the of the wilderness. Whatever the case, a new day is dawning and the True Light will be seen. GOD IS!
Thank you gil, for all the times you played this for me at the beginning of gigs.. RIP love you (always and all ways)...miss you... monique
