Those things are bastards. They can break a fingernail. People who have SW tanks sometimes set scissors up in front of their hole and cut them in half to get rid of them. Other times they spear them with clothes hangars. They kill fish and invertebrates and are a nuisance. SPEAR THE MANTIS SHRIMP!

I have a 100gal reef tank. If I had a mantis in there I would move it to another species only tank. Mantis shrimp are awesome.

they tend to be very hearty coming in live rock shipments out of water for many hours that is how they can sometimes become a nuisance in an aquarium as well. over all i think this creature would be a good beginner species tank set up.
