  • Skarsgård was brilliant in Generation Kill, but I'm not gonna go watch that gay-ass serie True Blood!

  • What does GySgt. Colbert like to eat? "Ice ice baby"...

  • pretty good american accent for a swede

  • 7 people are screwby, dawg

  • One word: Alexander!!! <3

  • Damn i'm swedish and this guy really talks good english he talks like a real american :) Good on you Alexander!!!

  • My fave <3

  • luv this man in action!! Alex ur an awsum actor apart from that sex physic off urs!

  • Ok I have a mancrush on Skarsgard. I will say only say that once.

I'm an American and he talks and acts more super USA than I could if I try.

  • @TangFiend1 skarsgård* ;)

  • @JoelEngberg They don't have the letter å in the english alphabet

  • @Narre5 haha yeah i know, funniest thing ever is to make guys from usa talk swedish

  • The US spends on its military more than the Top 15 countries in the World!

(SIPRI) almost $1.7 trillion total spent on defense in 2010.

USA $700B, 42% of total, representing 4.8% of GDP.

2nd place China only spent $119B, just 7.3% of total, only 2.1% of GDP

then UK, France, Russia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Germany, India. Italy round out the Top 10.

  • @AccordGTR Cool story bro. Go put that on a liberal video where someone cares

  • best line "That Was Pretty Fucking Ninja"

  • "Watch out, He's going to cut off your johnson!" Good background chatter xD

  • Six Sailors hated this video.

  • my hero

  • That is the man I want sitting next to if I ever get lit up. My Dad's going fo this third time and he said he said the same thing

  • It's impressive for a Brit&Aussie to pull of an American accent flawlessly, but it's amazing when it's a Swede, accents are hard to master and incredibly harder when it's not your native language.

  • He is one of the persons who makes me feel proud about being a Swede!

  • All countries in Europe have marines, and most hold them in high regard, the issue is most of the population doesn't deal with the military much sense we tend to avoid war when possible. But there's plenty of recognition of the difference, least at in my own country, Portuguese fear and respect our marines.

  • screw every other movie this guy has been or will be in, he kicked ass in this one!

  • Anyone wanna see how trombley was IRL ? :P

  • I watched it 'cos of ASkars and I loved it; it was so funny but real. Amazing stuff :)

  • 6 people did not stay frosty

  • THE KIND OF SOLDIER!?

  • @RebelliousPatriot I know. What a dumbass. I lost so much respect for Skarsgard right when he said, "soldier"

  • @yesiamawizardjonny Some people just dont know. But you would think someone who is trying to get inside the mind of a Marine would know he isnt a soldier, and he isnt in an army of anything.

  • @yesiamawizardjonny You have to take into account that it isn't everyone who makes the same distinction between a soldier and a marine as in the states. Seeing as most European countries don't hold marines in any sort of special prestige like in the USA where the USMC exists as an "army" of their own with such fancy legacy as to being older than the country itself. Most people around here would define a marine as a soldier tied to the navy rather than the army.

  • @navnforfandenda well there is the ROK Marines and the Royal Marine Commandos... but yeah beyond that there's not many countries

  • @yesiamawizardjonny right because it is so unthinkable that a foreigner who is not a native english speaker could ever use the word soldier for Marine. Some languages do not even have a word for Marine.

  • I think the really awesome part of the series is that we all have a person, colbert, and fick inside of us

  • @tubub There is no colbert in any of us. How could you even say you compare to how badass Colbert and Fick are? Go to BRC, SERE, Jump school, dive school, mountain warfare`, and ranger school. Then climb Mt. Shasta with a broken angle and 150 pounds on your back. When you do that, come back and then MAYBE... you'll have a LITTLE Colbert in you.

  • @yesiamawizardjonny

If one man could do it, another can. That doesn't other will, because most people are cowards or fall to other tribulations(even Colbert), but Colbert is the archetypal stoic humanist warrior. Any real man raised in the West has a Colbert within him

  • he is a gunny now

  • ICEMAN IN THE LEAD!

  • 6 people are in the army...semper fidelis men

  • "There are men in the trees"

  • @Nogeri *BANG BANG* FUUUUUUUUU-

  • Meekus from Zoolander aka Colbert. hahahaha!

  • i dont get it... he ended up joining the royal marine commandos, how? its a different countries military

  • @tehBLAX Colbert entered a special exchange program run by the military that is like becoming an exchange student during school. He went to the Royal Marines for a while, and a Royal Marine came to the USMC for the same amount of time.

  • @noimnot18why ohhhhh, thanks

  • @tehBLAX No problem

  • was expecting a swedish accent...

  • doesn't the real Colbert play the role of an Officer in the series? and btw doesn't the autor of generation Kill also play a marine in the first episode?

  • @Marco81blues no Colbert is a Sergeant in the series now he is a Gunnery Sergeant which is 2 ranks above

Evan Wright "the Reporter" was never a marine he was always a reporter throughout the series he wrote for Rolling Stones. At first people didnt really like him but since he actually went into combat with a recon unit and carried a gun(unlike the chaplain) he got their respect

  • @TheFrostyVision i know that what i asked was if they don't play roles in the series? i think they do.

  • @Marco81blues oh I get it now. im not sure ill look into it. I dont see why they wouldnt play themselves though. Rudy Reyes did

  • love button... where's the love button?

  • I'm Brazilian and i could not understand a single thing Baptista was saying in that HBO portuguese. Didnt sound like portuguese at all.

  • i didn't think anyone could be a bigger looking guy than skarsgard but the real iceman is massive lol

  • i have to agree. war is good for reducing human population.

i wont go to war but you can feel free to kill eachothers... :]

    more space for me.

  • Didn't he join because his girlfriend left him for his bestfriend?

  • 0:30

I do NOT remember that scene and I've watched this show over 10 times...

    I feel left out

  • @sangyuni96 Are you serious? It's the ep. where Trombley shot the kids and camels.

  • stay frost gents.

he also threw lady gaga off the balcony in the paparazzi video.

  • @clovercat14: I think you'll be fine. I just watched the whole series of GK for the first time and there was only one thing I couldn't really understand and had to look up.... why marines seem to hate the "Charms" candy so much. Apparently they are considered unlucky or even cursed by the marines. Anyway, I'm glad I finally got around to watching GK.

  • you mean Marine references hehe. Yeahif you're sharp you'll pick up on it I am sure.

  • To anyone that has watched an episode or more of Generation Kill, do you think a 15 year old girl that knows little to nothing about army ranks could keep up with the show? Like if they are making constant army references I don't think I'll understand.

  • @cloverkcat14 marine reference actually and you will sort of get a general idea of how the rank structure is build

usually a team consist of about 4 or 5 marines and is lead by an NCO(like sgt colbert) above them is a LT who is in charge of various teams(like LT fick) above him is a Captain who is in charge of various LTs(like captain america or encino man) above them is the Sergeant Major(he is an snco though) of the the entire 1st recon and the Commanding officer which is godfather.

  • Sgt. Colbert is now Gunny Colbert and I kind of got in an altercation with him during a training about sharing radio space between his recon guys and my sniper plt. I did get a hand shake from him later on when I proved that two different radio devices could work with each other. Cool dude.

  • Alexander Skarsgård is amazing.

    his accent is flawless!!

and Brad is a great character.

  • "There are men in the trees..."

  • Does anyone know what the song in this video is called?

  • ..if I were gay..I'd probably love this guy...he's my gay fantasy xD

    He's just objectively handsome...

  • Hey, it's Eric from True Blood.

(Also Beecher from OZ is in GK as well....playing Evan Wright)

  • IT'S MEEKUS FROM ZOOLANDER!!!

  • @muetter IT"S ERIC FROM TRUE BLOOD!!!

  • Wait a minute wasn't the camouflage at 1:13 made in 2004? And this is 2003.

  • @Jester2K11 they came out early as 2001 as prototypes. the usmc and ega patterns were upsidedown on the early digi cammies.

  • Orange mocha frappuccino!

  • Alexander Skarsgård was in the swedish CSOF-Marine forces!

  • read the book, wanna see the show

  • @k2snowboarding23 is the book also called gen kill?

  • @FuckinFirstRecon yeah. i recomend it, way better then the hbo series

  • @starshine977 probably not, ya know they have old 1950 movies but dont care to keep damn good show like this cuz everyone wants to watch fucking jersey shore or some fucking piece of shit hanna mon sluttty tana.

sorry i kinda went on a rampage there.

  • @mastachief117spartan sluttty tana LOL

  • @mastachief117spartan whohahahaha hanna mon slutty tana! good one! :D

  • @starshine977 I got a copy at Fry's. You might try your public library they can get all kinds of vids, dvds.

  • Alexander is such a brilliant actor! What a Sweadass!

  • @nov3lia He's a good actor, but he's not Brad. Nobody in this world is fit to portray the true GySgt. Brad Colbert. He should've played himself.

  • @nov3lia And he's great as Eric on "True Blood."

  • @nov3lia I think he's in a movie comin out soon, it's called 'Straw Dogs' or something.

  • it's amazing how little of an accent Alexander has being Swedish and playing an American. Even talking normally it's hard to tell he's not an American

  • @SuperMike82 Lots of Swedes and Danes are like that. I met a bunch of them back in school in Florida and they all spoke nearly perfect American English after just three or four months in the country. In my four plus years over there, I never got even close to speaking like an American. Never lost my Argentinean speak accent no matter how hard I tried. Of course, I wasn't taught English from the cradle like the Swedes. Once you are over 8 years old you'll never loose your native accent.

  • @slick4401 That's not true. It's just harder.

  • @slick4401 Of course if you have one. I'm polish and we almost don't have any, that's why it's pretty easy for us to speak fluently other languages :)

  • @SuperMike82 It's extremely easy to detect his corny and fake American voice. He sounds short-spoken and unrealistic when he talks. They should have just got an American Actor.

  • @SuperMike82 it's cause swedish children are taught english at a very early age in school.

  • @SuperMike82 It's amazing how much Alexander looks like GySgt Brad Colbert!

  • 7 hours watching this show I just realized how calm the guy is!

  • Wow, this is actually the first war film that can make me sit through all the part.

  • Cool. Is that the son of Stellan Skarsgard ?

  • @hudson0815

Yeah in america he is more famous than Stellan Skarsgård ever became.

He and his brother and father are among the few swedish actors that have good international standards.

  • Alexander Skarsgard is Lady gaga's boyfriend in paparazzi...

  • Alexander Skarsgård is the best! Han äger:P

  • HBO is amazing for giving us Generation Kill, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, etc.

  • @ForceRecon198 you just named my three favourite miniseries :D

  • He's awesome on True Blood

  • alexander skarsgard is from sweden thats cool

  • the actor and the real person look exactly the same.

  • @chocosparx

This show never gives justification for war. And you contradict yourself, first you say it glamorizes the war, then you say it show the ugliness of it.

What is your point, actually ?

  • @chocosparx that's what the recommended age is for, and it seems that you should've waited a couple of years before you watched it so that you could actually understand the content.

  • @chocosparx sooo why did you watch this if youre going to complain? just wondering.

  • @chocosparx yeah but thats how it is....

  • @chocosparx You should go jump out of a plane carrying a sign with all your philosophy on it, it would draw attention to your cause.

  • Brad is one of the best Marines I'll ever know.

  • they should make a vietnam-war mini series with alexander in it. He could be the cool sgt.

  • Evan Wright said that real brads sister said that secret of Brad is that he is a girl.He didn't mind it at all when Wright said it and it was clear that it is joke. But real Brad is so manly, even more than Skarsgard.

  • generation terrorist I would say

  • Loved Generation Kill! Alexander Skarsgard is amazing!! :)

  • some say colbert is a girl but what is that about??

  • the man is epic....

  • Does he really have an American accent or was he still in character during the interviews. I thought he spent most of his life an Career in Sweden?

  • @Lebbz he's staying in character (or accent, anyway). It was great during the show.

  • The Iceman himself. My hero.

  • 0:31

    woah! eric moment!

he said and looked exactly the same in the epsiode 'timebomb'

    ha!

i'm ashamed look so obsessed with the show..

    meh fuck it! i am!

    true blood rocks baby!

    and so does alex :)

  • What's type of scope is on his rifle?

  • its a AN/PVS-17 scope, i'm pretty sure it is. a fine piece of equipment might i add.

    Stay Frosty.

  • @mamacooper1 What do you need a night vision scope for in the middle of the day, in the desert?

  • @AtticWarrior1994 i asked myself that very question at the begining of the show... but a zoomed optic wich functions both day and night i would have it too

  • He was in Swedish marines for fifteen months. He just finished training. That is realy cool but he wasn't any f commando.

  • I was told that this dude was a Swedish commando back in the day

  • Comment removed

  • did he just call himself a soldier? eww

  • Why in the world isn't Alexander Skarsgard cast as Thor? Kenneth branagh, you are so much fail!

  • Generaion Kill is really good! Love the fact that it´s based upon a real story....you can see and feel that. As I´m swedish - glad to see my favorite actor Alexander Skarsgård doing a great roll as Iceman. Love the interacting with the other guys, especially with Ray. The casting was exceptionally good. It´s a pity it was just one book....would have loved more of this. Pretty fucking ninja!

  • wow brad colbert is my new idol(not to sound weird.) he climbed a thousand meteres on a mountain with a broken ankle and a 100 ibs of gear. thats pretty unhuman. the man is a beast....

  • Does anyone else feel Skarsgard would make for a strong Captain America?

  • AGAIN! at 1:01 they cut out the 'fuckin' again!

  • my fav is ray and brad together. theyre like ketchup and mustard. one (b)itchy and sour, and one stoic, understated and with seeds in it that holds everything together. or the mum and dad of the show. :)

  • @mindovermatte Evan actually wrote the same thing! In the HMMWV Colbert was the dad, Ray was the mum, and Garza and Trombley were the kids.

  • Best char in the series.

  • brad is a jarhead

  • "ill be fine", ahh eric moment crossover!

and I know this has been said a million times BUT his accent for english was originally good, however he did spend time with a coach getting Brad Colberts accent down... he then tweaked that accent and added a bit of swedish to it for the Eric voice (which is awesome BTW).

  • gentlemen , we have just seized and airfield

    that was pretty fuckin ninja

    ROFLOL

  • @alonsb2006

I laughed at that, 'cause my Bro' is still in the military and he occasionally say's the 'ninja' phrase when somethings happening. LOL.

  • Alexander is really famous in Sweden. His dad and his brothers are actors!

I love him, he's such a great actor.

  • @Ptolemy18 his dad was in muma mia wasnt he

  • i never knew he could speak fluent swedish u learn something new everyday

  • He speaks fluent swedish because he is swedish, check out his other films on you tube

  • Comment removed

  • generation kill (y) skarsgard (y)

  • isn't he one of the models who dies in the gasoline fight in zoolander, really really ridiculously good killing

  • Haha, yup!

  • I have a question dear ones,

I am a novice in fire arms, but iceman's scope looks pretty cool,,, anyone knows what type it is?

  • I LOVE Alexander!!! Generation Kil was amazing love the show!! <3

  • LMAO!!

    "That was ninja."

    i luvs Alex :D

  • Note that A Skarsgard has 18 moths of military training in the Swedish amphibious core (equivalent to the Marine core). he actually has the rank of Sergent. Anyways, he can act for sure.

  • @joba777 That's an interesting fact, theres just one error, there's no equivalent to the Marine core :-)

  • @Eddie820 what about British SAS, Navy Seals, or Russian Spetsnaz? i would say at least 1 if those is either just as good or better than Marines. and that is in NO WAY an insult to Marines.

  • @calebinoutlook THe thing is those are all special forces, whereas my beloved Marine Corps is a normal volunteer military branch. The Marines have their own Special Forces, as well.

  • @NohbdyThere Spesnaz are just elite soldiers like Marines are. as are the SAS. yea Navy SEALS are special forces. but the other 2 are just elite soldiers i think. but say they are, the Army Rangers are extremely good too. but Marines are probably better.

the only thing is this. for the last however long, Marines, Army, etc have only been fighting either not trained at all, or not so well trained iraqi militas. if they went up against trained soldiers, would they be as good as they are now?

  • @calebinoutlook Spetznaz translates into special forces, SAS is Special Air Service, Rangers are an elite part of the US Army, Marines are anyone in the Marine Corps, including the POGs. MARSOC is the Marine Special Operation Command.

  • @NohbdyThere this whole thing started by someone saying "there is no equivalent to the marine corp. and i proved there is. now u guys are just trying to think of any way possible to still make it seem like the Marines are the number 1 best fighting force on earth. while they are extremely good, there are better (even though as an American i hate to admit it)

  • @calebinoutlook Actually, I'm saying it's not accurate to say that those units are better than the Marine Corps, because they are special forces. If you want to compare them, then compare Spetznaz or SAS to MARSOC, not the general Marine Corps. I'm well aware of the fact that there are better groups of warriors out there, but they are on different levels.

  • @NohbdyThere fine. if u want to compare people on different levels of the military fine. but like i said, the first thing that started this conversation was someone said, there is no equivalent to the marine corp. and i was simply saying that was wrong. he didn't say "there is no equivalent to the marine corp except special ops." he claimed ther was absolutely none what so ever. and so he was wrong.i believe it is accurate to say that special ops are better than Marines. whatever. who cares

  • @joba777 It's Corps. Not Core.

  • That MAN knows to act.

It is enough just to look at his face and you can see all emotions.

  • This show is awesome.

  • xD man i love this show its awsome "there are men in the trees" *BANG BANG!* DEAD lol brad and ray are my fav chars

  • what happened with "all swedes are gay"? Anyway.. love alexander! Keep up the good work!

  • .... you know, I suspect it is not that all swedes are gay, but that swedes are perhaps a little more secure in their manhood... just me sayin'... :) that's the impression I get from this Swede...

  • This man is FAR from gay. He's just very European and I think a lot of Americans perceive that as gay.

  • People are just dumb and think Skaarsgard is too small and fickle to play someone bigger like Colbert.

  • @MsAKSfan

    well said

  • @fabriciuso *taking a little bow* Thank you very much! Nice to see that my words from a year ago still resonate with someone! LOL
