for the upgrading farming go to the mining tunnels and kill the miners with bags in their hand and they will drop 10 hardstone shards and 1-2 large hardstones/ clear stones spiderstones dragon stones ect...

@hairdown21 I just started playing the game but...you have a full bar of hp while alive, 50% when you die...but with the ring you have 75%, and i've heard a lot of people play through most of the game dead anyway

@SpArTaN691000 you're probably at least going to take one hit (unless you've timed it perfectly), so make sure you have some healing at hand and have enough health before running across. The last step is just to time it right. When you hear the dragon roar, that's generally when uses his fire attack, so just time it off that.
ohh, yeah ... that SKELETON at the end is very weak to FIRE....
its pretty easy to kill him if you have Lava bow or fire spell...
oh yeah it takes like 2 shots to kill Reeper (with LAva bow and heavy arrows).
In fact level 4-2 (end of the video) one of the best places in the game for soul farming (collecting) - like ~ 50,000 souls for every playthrough (takes like 5min)...
LAVA BOW is much better for beginners...(100 fire bonus - scales with magic)
White bow needs a lot of dexterity points as far as i can remember.
Beat the game like a year ago...(you make Lava bow out of Spider demons soul and upgraded bow (e.g. short compound +7 i think...dont remember that well..:)

@ShiningZenith I'm talking about those pesky shield things that showground the phalanx, you will take out multiple of those guys if use the firebombs.
@TheWiddaC depends on your strengths, if you want a guy really fast but not as weak as the thief (the most agile class) go for hunter or royalty. these are the balanced classes i would go with:
Hunter (similar strength to soldier but come with a ranged weapon)
Knight (much higher intelleigence and defense compared to soldier, but also slower)
Soldier (obvious standard class, probably the most versatile in customization)
Royalty (souls arrow makes it incredibly easy for the first few levels)
@popstopolus The white bow is not the best bow in the game. If your dexterity is pretty high, upgrade a regular bow to a sticky bow is better. You have to use spiderstones which you could get by farming in 2-1. Or if you're mixed in strength and dexterity... make a quality bow. And if you're high in strength... regular upgrades with hardstones.
@cloolm14 start as a magician or royalty or... get your magic stat to 10 and use your souls to buy it from the mage assistant or sage freke in the nexus

@shmageheeberry yeah i was a little nervous when i got it, but its totally worth it. I attempted to play it at first with no guides what so ever but it was dificult i recommend that you look up some things before jumping right in it helps a lot.

Please help me! I just got the game and i love it but i can't understand how to move back (not jump) and to the side (moving circles) around enemy. I saw it in this video and i think it will make my life in this game easier. Also i can't understand how to cast magic. I have learnt Flame toss magic and remembered it but i can't figure out which buttons should i push and which actions to do to cast it. It's icon always transparent. Please advice!
@lugorifm you need a weapon that allows the casting of magic, you cant cast magic while holding a sword... sorry i cant remember the name of the weapon
@lugorifm Press R3 to target an enemy, then you can circle around them while still facing them. You need a catalyst equiped in left or right hand to use magic. You've probably got it figured out now. Just noticed your message was a week old : D
Picking up the purple flame shield and the crescent falchion +1 is pretty good for beginners at the start too. Provided they have stats to wield them.

im a soldier...where can i get good light armor or whatever. cuz this plate armor shit makes me roll like a fat bitch and i just get my ass kicked by those rolling metal skeletons in the shrine of storms place.
@tharbk01 Just take your armor off until you get some lighter armor.
You can get a Black Leather set from 3-1, it's very good and you'll need the poison/plague resistance for the Valley of Defilement levels, the set is hidden inside an iron maiden not so long into the level.
@tharbk01 Check your equip burden. I think that if you're above 50% capacity your movement will be like a fat bitch. If you're pretty close to 50% then invest a point or two into endurance, if you're not then it's probably a better idea to equip lighter or less armour/weapons. Those silver skeletons can be annoying, you've just gotta have a good enough shield.
Heh, your character looks a bit like Adol Christin, was that intentional? Either way, pretty fancy if you ask me. Thanks for the guide too, it'll definitely be helpful getting used to this game again, I dropped it a few months back and now I'm trying to pick it back up, very rusty though XD
TIP:Ostrava is supposed to give you a key later on.. but you might miss it if he dies before you speak to him again (this has happened to alot of people). To avoid this, kill him when you meet him for the first time. Backstab him down, and let him fight the enemies down there. After he's done fighting, keep backstabbing till he dies and loot the key. You get some of the best items using the key, don't miss it. Killing Ostrava doesn't make you lose the game etc, go on, do it.
thnks dude you helped me so much when i first got this game now it is one of my favorite games of all time im on like ng 4 only a few players still play it regurly and when dark souls comes out everyone will have to start from scratch and i will have no help because no one will no anymore than i do but the vets will hav a the upper hand controll wise.
I had to just say having had a go on Demons Souls for last 5 hours, one word I very rarely use to state how epic a game truly is and that is "BIBLICAL"!!!!
Noob question here, but how long does it take to get to 4-2? I watched my brother play, and he had been playing for a bunch of hours and could only access that second portal in the nexus.
Since it says beginner and you wrote a few hours, i guess you can get there alot faster than he did? Or is it a way do get there faster that you need to know about?

@insan3cow You can get to 4-2 after only beating 2 other bosses. The game isn't linear, you can take different routes every time. As soon as you beat the first level of the game you can pick 4-1(or any other x-1 level, and 1-2), and after you beat 4-1 you unlock 4-2.
@tm10 You can actually get to world 4 immediately after beating the 1-1 boss. However, there's a glitch with one of the NPCs you might want to consider. In 2-2 and 4-2 you can meet the vender Patches. If you meat him in 4-2 before 2-2, he can disappear from the game till NG+.
A rather common question: Should I get this game? I've been wanting to get it for quite a while and now I've got the money to. I'm a little afraid that if I buy it, since I'll probably suck at it at first, I'll play it for a while and then never again. I've seen people die many times in videos, but does it happen often? In terms of frustration that is. And if I die, do I have to start over about an hour of play or less? Thanks to whoever is kind enough to answer, I really wanna know.
@JohnnyLeyenda you will die. if you get distracted, you will die. if you get pissed and rush things, you will die. unless you're that japanese dude that does the speed runs...you will die. but that's the beauty of the game, it demands perfection. you won't be disappointed.

you don't need to roll to get over the ledge when obtaining the thieves ring. if you keep pressing forward the character will mantle over the wall.

If you're comfortable with using spells, Royalty is really easy.
You get a MP regen ring to start with and start off with Soul Arrow.

Those who are hesitant to get this game, don't.
I just picked it up myself after months of waiting and worry that I would hate it because of the difficulty that everyone been talking about.
Dont worry, the game teach you how to play and if you die, you will get better.
I played for 2 hours now and just beat the mini boss (phalanx) and it was epic.
Now I'm addicted to the game!

@shmageheeberry yeah i was a little nervous when i got it, but its totally worth it. I attempted to play it at first with no guides what so ever but it was dificult i recommend that you look up some things before jumping right in it helps a lot.

Please help me! I just got the game and i love it but i can't understand how to move back (not jump) and to the side (moving circles) around enemy. I saw it in this video and i think it will make my life in this game easier. Also i can't understand how to cast magic. I have learnt Flame toss magic and remembered it but i can't figure out which buttons should i push and which actions to do to cast it. It's icon always transparent. Please advice!

@lugorifm you need a weapon that allows the casting of magic, you cant cast magic while holding a sword... sorry i cant remember the name of the weapon

@lugorifm Press R3 to target an enemy, then you can circle around them while still facing them. You need a catalyst equiped in left or right hand to use magic. You've probably got it figured out now. Just noticed your message was a week old : D

Picking up the purple flame shield and the crescent falchion +1 is pretty good for beginners at the start too. Provided they have stats to wield them.

@tharbk01 Just take your armor off until you get some lighter armor.
You can get a Black Leather set from 3-1, it's very good and you'll need the poison/plague resistance for the Valley of Defilement levels, the set is hidden inside an iron maiden not so long into the level.

@tharbk01 Check your equip burden. I think that if you're above 50% capacity your movement will be like a fat bitch. If you're pretty close to 50% then invest a point or two into endurance, if you're not then it's probably a better idea to equip lighter or less armour/weapons. Those silver skeletons can be annoying, you've just gotta have a good enough shield.

TIP:Ostrava is supposed to give you a key later on.. but you might miss it if he dies before you speak to him again (this has happened to alot of people). To avoid this, kill him when you meet him for the first time. Backstab him down, and let him fight the enemies down there. After he's done fighting, keep backstabbing till he dies and loot the key. You get some of the best items using the key, don't miss it. Killing Ostrava doesn't make you lose the game etc, go on, do it.

thnks dude you helped me so much when i first got this game now it is one of my favorite games of all time im on like ng 4 only a few players still play it regurly and when dark souls comes out everyone will have to start from scratch and i will have no help because no one will no anymore than i do but the vets will hav a the upper hand controll wise.

Noob question here, but how long does it take to get to 4-2? I watched my brother play, and he had been playing for a bunch of hours and could only access that second portal in the nexus.
Since it says beginner and you wrote a few hours, i guess you can get there alot faster than he did? Or is it a way do get there faster that you need to know about?
Also, thanks. Going to play this game soon, so that bow will come in handy.

@insan3cow You can get to 4-2 after only beating 2 other bosses. The game isn't linear, you can take different routes every time. As soon as you beat the first level of the game you can pick 4-1(or any other x-1 level, and 1-2), and after you beat 4-1 you unlock 4-2.

@tm10 You can actually get to world 4 immediately after beating the 1-1 boss. However, there's a glitch with one of the NPCs you might want to consider. In 2-2 and 4-2 you can meet the vender Patches. If you meat him in 4-2 before 2-2, he can disappear from the game till NG+.

A rather common question: Should I get this game? I've been wanting to get it for quite a while and now I've got the money to. I'm a little afraid that if I buy it, since I'll probably suck at it at first, I'll play it for a while and then never again. I've seen people die many times in videos, but does it happen often? In terms of frustration that is. And if I die, do I have to start over about an hour of play or less? Thanks to whoever is kind enough to answer, I really wanna know.
