Thanks for posting. I was at this show at 8 years old. Used to visit my Dad in the summers in Cleveland. He worked security . Seen a bunch of bands in the three years I would visit. Once again thanks for posting. Brings back some good times.
I remember when Johnny and the Jukes were the house band at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park.....then early in the morning, Bruce and the boys would come in....those were the days
Oh, I remember these days well, when the music was hot, when the men were sweaty and bare-chested and so was the audience. When there was a level of enthusiasm that reached out from the stage and grabbed you in the gut. Who would've thought that it would happen all over again por moi thirty-three years later... These men make me SO happy. This music makes me feel alive. Keep on keepin' on, Jukes and Jersey boys!
Used to see the Jukes at the Stone Pony. A slim "Miami" Steve Van Zandt in the band. Springsteen hanging out in a corner with some georgeous woman...then hopping up on stage for the encores at 2 or 3 in the morning.
They're the the heart of rock & roll...and R&B...and blues: REAL & fun..fun...fun.
Doesn't get any better than Jersey all night.
And the Jukes are still doing it and still a lot of fun.
I was fortunate enough to see several of these occasions at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park back in the 70s. (Check out La Bamba from the Conan O'Brian show!)
Thanks for posting these songs, I saw Southside and the guys every summer from the time I was 14 through the age of 33. I'm guessing that shortly after this gig Bruce talked Steve into joining the E-Street Band.
@bostongal43 Amen. I have seen the Jukes hundreds of times over a period of 35 years, spent the last 15 New Years Eve with them and I rank this right up there with the best of the best. If you were there lucky you and you sure got your money's worth! :-)
True jersey boys.......i grew up at the jersey shore....WALL.....southside is from Neptune N>J>......true jersey shore people.....even Bruce...was from Freehold nj....my old man new them.....solid jam.
OMFG! the flashbacks are coming fast and furious!!! thanks for preserving what rock used to be, and was amazing in that dive hole in the wall, on E14th
It doesn't get much better but I disagree, I give the credit to Steve Van Zandt for the presence and music both of them have, and their live album(and tour) was/is killer party music.. IMO, it's a toss up between Southside and the Jukes and J.Geils as the best party bands of all time!
I saw them last night in Tarrytown Music Hall - NY. Johnny was just as good last night as he was 31 years ago when this video was made! What an awesome band! They still got it all these years later - THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video. Its great to see how youthful they were in the old days.... but like good wine....well, you know the saying. ROCK ON, JOHNNY!
can you find a better live performance .... not only the artist but the defference Bruce shows Southside, as does Bon Jovi in the latter gigs. Johnny rules.
It is just a JOY to see the Boss and Johnny are letting these classic clips stay up I've counted 8 different shows i saw that were only vivid memories to have them back (like Magic) to see again Is beyond words -Johnny your music are the reason my wife and I are togtherme and my wife
A great party band! I've seen them three times, Once at the garden state arts center. (Since been renamed Toyota center.) And twice in Newark DE. Fantastic shows!!!
Man this song is one of my favs(Smokeys version) but to seen Bruce in his ROOTS w/southside Johnny an the Asbury Jukes is really moving thanks 4 posting!!!!! 5star!
My favorite video on the web, that's all. Is it the concert of the 12/31/1977 at Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ where Bruce, Steve, Clarence, Max and Danny join the Jukes on stage from this song ? Thanks
Génial, les 3 sur scènes, Bruce, Steve et Johnny. J'adore !!!!!!! Ce sont bien les meilleurs et la musique te donne envie de bouger. MERCI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Southside johnny is cool. Does anyone know if i can find their song "Vertigo" ANYWHERE on youtube??? Or anywhere at all, on the net for that matter. It's our favorite one...
Reach Up And Touch The Sky remains one of the best live album never recorded, as well as Parkerilla by Graham Parker and The Rumours. The combination of soul and rock'n'roll proposed by Southside Johnny was like an explosive for my young soul (at that time I was 18 years old...). Thanks for adding this video, is a joy to listen and see how pure can be the music.
WOW...this is awesome! Brings back memories, as I was there...and have pics to prove it! Southside would play the Agora on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights when he came to Cleveland. My friends and I would go all three nights. This night, Bruce was playing the Colisium in Richfield. I left that show, drove like a maniac and got in just in time to see Steve on Stage. A few minutes later, Bruce came out. I was to the left of the stage with my camera. I still have some of the photos.
@jak757 We did the same thing....saw Bruce and then drove like maniacs just in time to see Bruce join Southside......I'm sure I see the backs of our heads in this!!!! How can I get the music from this on my mp3 player???? Oh man, this is WONDERFUL!!!!
in case you have an interest i have available for TRADE/PURCHASE some great never released bruce dvd's 2 disc 78 tour, (all these southside johnny and bruce duets are on this) 2 disc 1985 paris,1 disc canada 1984,2 disc bridge 1986 with csny,2 disc full vote for change concert with rem,1 dvd citizen bruce 2 dvd set from opening night of magic tour 10 /07 from hartford cn, 2dvd solo acoustic from 2005. many more bands available. contact me via youtube messages with email address and i send list
I think this the same night in late 78 when I saw Bruce at the Coliseum. When I got back to CSU they said Bruce was jamming with Southside at the Agora. Ran over there, but too late get in. JJ
Wow, Critter... where the HELL did you find this one, man? What a fabulous clip. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!! Will you be at any of the upcoming Marah shows? If so, make yourself known to me and I'll buy you a cold fizzy drink of some kind to show my appreciation...
Had a fake ID and used to go to the Stone Pony just to see Bruce and Southside Johnny. Those were the days!
