  • Had a fake ID and used to go to the Stone Pony just to see Bruce and Southside Johnny. Those were the days!

  • his hair is tragic!

  • This song reminds me of BIG MANS WEST in RB!!!! ...We use to hang Bruce!!:)

  • And that''s the least they deserved!

  • I'm bettin' pretty much every band member got laid that night.

  • Thanks for posting. I was at this show at 8 years old. Used to visit my Dad in the summers in Cleveland. He worked security . Seen a bunch of bands in the three years I would visit. Once again thanks for posting. Brings back some good times.

  • I'm 16, and I don't think those guys play music.

I think they are the music.

  • Diggin' La Bamba's moves!

  • Classic. I'm jealous of the audience members luck that night!

  • We,d get three pitcher of tap .. it smelt like beer, sweat and cigarettes and we would always knock over at least one pitcher...

  • Wow! What a great clip!

  • sorry dudes, sam cooke's beats this any day of the week. get over yourselves, baby boomers

  • They are having hella fun

  • I remember when Johnny and the Jukes were the house band at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park.....then early in the morning, Bruce and the boys would come in....those were the days

  • Oh where is that wayback machine to go back to this night to see them. Going to see Johnny on July 22nd in Chicago and I can't wait!

  • Love it!! My mispent youth....there it is!

  • Johnny is Rock and Roll.

  • Oh, I remember these days well, when the music was hot, when the men were sweaty and bare-chested and so was the audience. When there was a level of enthusiasm that reached out from the stage and grabbed you in the gut. Who would've thought that it would happen all over again por moi thirty-three years later... These men make me SO happy. This music makes me feel alive. Keep on keepin' on, Jukes and Jersey boys!

  • @chandrahvj In other words, you remember when music was a form of art and not a way to make money. When it MEANT something. I remeber those days too.

  • Does anyone have a bootleg recording of this?

  • Who remember's WNEW-FM in NY? One election and Scot Muni says he's going to form a new political party, the "We're Havin' A" Party !!!

  • Who remembers WNEW-FM ? during one of the elections Scot Muni said that he was going to form the "We're Havin A" Party to run ...

  • Cut from the same Jersey mold one made it huge and one didn't. Excellent video. It looks like it could be a local public access production.

  • After watching this it's me that doesn't to go home. A GREAT clip, a great song, a great performance. Thanks for sharing this.

  • This was it!

Used to see the Jukes at the Stone Pony. A slim "Miami" Steve Van Zandt in the band. Springsteen hanging out in a corner with some georgeous woman...then hopping up on stage for the encores at 2 or 3 in the morning.

    They're the the heart of rock & roll...and R&B...and blues: REAL & fun..fun...fun.

Doesn't get any better than Jersey all night.

And the Jukes are still doing it and still a lot of fun.

    Thanks for posting!

  • It wasn't a proper party at Heidelberg College, Tiffin OH c. 1984 without this song!

  • with a young silvio dante in the backgroud :D

  • This video is a real find! Kudos for uploading it!

  • Southside is on his 14th beer at this point.

  • This is priceless!!

  • Can't beat the Jersey Boys!!!

  • HELP! I'm obsessed with this video (and the other 2 videos that look like they were from the same show - "The Fever" and "I don't wanna go home".)

How do I get this on MP3 or CD or something so I can listen to it somewhere other than sitting on my computer?

  • this is what its all about

  • I was fortunate enough to see several of these occasions at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park back in the 70s. (Check out La Bamba from the Conan O'Brian show!)

  • those were the day's wow do I miss them!

  • we all wish we as at party ---and be so cool......

  • Now why can't sex be this good?

  • Comment removed

  • Man its a mind f#@k seeing all these guys when they were so young. They must've been and still living the high life...

  • Thanks for posting these songs, I saw Southside and the guys every summer from the time I was 14 through the age of 33. I'm guessing that shortly after this gig Bruce talked Steve into joining the E-Street Band.

  • I was at this show , right up front.

This was the best show ever.

You 20 yr. olds can have your rap crap-

this is ROCK AND ROLL with fantastic musicians and rock idols.

The Boss at the Boston Garden ties for first place!!

  • @bostongal43 Amen. I have seen the Jukes hundreds of times over a period of 35 years, spent the last 15 New Years Eve with them and I rank this right up there with the best of the best. If you were there lucky you and you sure got your money's worth! :-)

  • True jersey boys.......i grew up at the jersey shore....WALL.....southside is from Neptune N>J>......true jersey shore people.....even Bruce...was from Freehold nj....my old man new them.....solid jam.

  • SSJ and Bruce, can't go wrong !

  • OMFG! the flashbacks are coming fast and furious!!! thanks for preserving what rock used to be, and was amazing in that dive hole in the wall, on E14th

  • From Sam Cooke to Jay-Z. De-evoluation, indeed.

  • Bruce is soooooooooooo handsome

  • I was born in 77 but still love this I was raised on Southside and Buce. My mom played this music all the time and I just love it.

  • Nog 4 dagen -> Vrijdag Paradiso life !!!!!!!

  • Ik kijk er naar uit

  • who ain't?

  • We wil see him in Paradiso Amsterdam Oct.

  • just noticed that roy showed up... roy is the best.

  • This is such a great song - you know you went to a great show when you hear this song!

Gonna see him tomorrow 06/27/09 in Pt Lookout NY (free show)

  • music really doesn't get any better than this. they get better and better the further they go into the song.

  • I think johnny taught bruce alot about havin a good time on stage. Johnny was for real,

  • Still is for real, man. Southside is the real deal.

  • that's what I said in Dutch, he is more Rock and Roll than Bruce.

  • It doesn't get much better but I disagree, I give the credit to Steve Van Zandt for the presence and music both of them have, and their live album(and tour) was/is killer party music.. IMO, it's a toss up between Southside and the Jukes and J.Geils as the best party bands of all time!

  • if this is from the Agora, 1978 I was there.

  • we'll see you in the morning!

  • Johnny heeft eigenlijk veel meer Rock 'n Roll dan Bruce

  • springstein is hotttttt!...thats all i gotta say

  • I saw them last night in Tarrytown Music Hall - NY. Johnny was just as good last night as he was 31 years ago when this video was made! What an awesome band! They still got it all these years later - THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video. Its great to see how youthful they were in the old days.... but like good wine....well, you know the saying. ROCK ON, JOHNNY!

  • i think it is impossible to hate this song...really and truly

  • can you find a better live performance .... not only the artist but the defference Bruce shows Southside, as does Bon Jovi in the latter gigs. Johnny rules.

  • C'mon i don't know the technical brilliance of it or anything but that's one of the coolest guitar solos ever

  • It is just a JOY to see the Boss and Johnny are letting these classic clips stay up I've counted 8 different shows i saw that were only vivid memories to have them back (like Magic) to see again Is beyond words -Johnny your music are the reason my wife and I are togtherme and my wife

  • A great party band! I've seen them three times, Once at the garden state arts center. (Since been renamed Toyota center.) And twice in Newark DE. Fantastic shows!!!

  • what a show..might have to go see southside in may

  • Simplemente PERFECTO!

  • Outfeckingstanding

  • Southside johnny is cool. Does anyone know if i can find their song "Vertigo" ANYWHERE on youtube??? Or anywhere at all, on the net for that matter. It's our favorite one...

  • I wish they would go on tour together, it would be amazing.

  • Reach Up And Touch The Sky remains one of the best live album never recorded, as well as Parkerilla by Graham Parker and The Rumours. The combination of soul and rock'n'roll proposed by Southside Johnny was like an explosive for my young soul (at that time I was 18 years old...). Thanks for adding this video, is a joy to listen and see how pure can be the music.

  • BRUCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Been following for years.Great Show---

  • Sam Cooke is singin along with the Jersey Boys.

  • Outstanding...True Jersey Boys

  • East Coast,NJ,Surf Music!!!

  • JUKES!!!!!

  • to put it simply...OFF THE CHARTS!

  • WOW...this is awesome! Brings back memories, as I was there...and have pics to prove it! Southside would play the Agora on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights when he came to Cleveland. My friends and I would go all three nights. This night, Bruce was playing the Colisium in Richfield. I left that show, drove like a maniac and got in just in time to see Steve on Stage. A few minutes later, Bruce came out. I was to the left of the stage with my camera. I still have some of the photos.

  • Did you run any red lights?

  • @jak757 We did the same thing....saw Bruce and then drove like maniacs just in time to see Bruce join Southside......I'm sure I see the backs of our heads in this!!!! How can I get the music from this on my mp3 player???? Oh man, this is WONDERFUL!!!!

  • Johnny is so wasted. lol

  • Yo! Those cats could play. Check out the La Bomba. GWHS.

  • Southside & Bruce - boy those were the days!!

  • Kool video, I saw them in November 79'at the Roxy on Sunset Blvd with that lineup plugging the Jukes album, As I remember it, it was pretty bitchen'!

  • been in there alot of times in the 70s eveytime went to see bruce he.d sell out in 5 minutes great place to see new bands

  • I think this the same night in late 78 when I saw Bruce at the Coliseum. When I got back to CSU they said Bruce was jamming with Southside at the Agora. Ran over there, but too late get in. JJ

  • Classic.....I love it. Wish they would still do gigs like that in clubs.

  • Southside is the best. Just goes to show you can't have a real band without a horn section. All real bands have horns.

    Rock on Johnny!!!

  • You got that right. Horns, bone & sax make the Real Music all come together, along with a drummer that can kick it. JJ

  • Fantastic. That is why I go to concerts - and you, old critter, are going to be the president of youtube!!!

  • weirdcritter for President!!!

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • Wow, Critter... where the HELL did you find this one, man? What a fabulous clip. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!! Will you be at any of the upcoming Marah shows? If so, make yourself known to me and I'll buy you a cold fizzy drink of some kind to show my appreciation...

  • It's rumoured that I'll be at the Nottingham and London shows ;-)
