they sill use charcoal in hospitals today! they use it like when somebody has took to much alcohol, medicine, illigal drugs, etc. For overdoses and so on!!
all this videos are amazing but they don't compare to the video of the drinking monkeys it was like my dvd set of planet earth and family guy had sex and there baby was raised by youtube
lol 0:34. Wow they're pretty smart. Too bad though they could develop a resistance to the poison and be able to eat any plant without stomach pain if they didn't use medicine. Intriguing parallel
They do communicate guys. That chittering and high squeaks. Its language. Any pet owner can tell you their animal tries to audibly communicate with them. Eventually someone will figure out how to match their actions with their sounds.
how did the colobus monkey discover human made charcoal helps their stomachache??? Perhaps there had been trees burnt or strike by lightning and they knew these burnt wood help?
probably trial and error, a monkey may have found that he can eat more by eating charcoal, and then by habit he just goes back, then others will see this and try the same

can this be called instinct?
emanresuelbaman 2 years ago
No... this is a form of intelligence.
advisorC101 2 years ago
Then what would you say about human intelligence? It seems that we don't have those things that monkeys and other animals have.
emanresuelbaman 2 years ago
Point taken.. Humans are too intelligent for their own good sometimes.
advisorC101 2 years ago 2
@emanresuelbaman
yep thats generally why animals do anything. humans have pretty much lost all instinct.
PenguinHairBalls 2 years ago
Nah, that's not instinct. This is clearly learn behaviour from trial and error and pass down and it varies from one group to another.

Well agreed, I do the same with food I eat. You'll notice the effects within 2-4 hours of eating in regards to your activities.
