people here are getting fixated with the idea that "Metallica copied Iron Maiden", but hasn't anyone thought that Iron Maiden is not THE most original band on earth? by this i mean that they must have recieved influences from someone else, that other "someone" from another person, and so on. we could go on forever, but the truth is that the real geniuses that inspired even the greatest like beethoven are now long gone, and that if we, as musicians are copying some one, it'd be THEM.

I personally prefer metallica but I would not blame anyone for prefering iron maiden instead. Both bands are awesome and I feel lucky to be able to apreciate their amazing music. in the children of the damned v unforgiven 2 who ripped of what, i think if you do a search for jimi hendrix 1983 a merman i should turn to be, from electric ladyland 1968, and have a listen to the start youll see where iron maiden may have been 'inspired' in the first place. so much music sounds alike its hard to say really if its a rip off, a tribute, or just if they happened to write somthing that sounds similar to something else

influenced maybe almost every metal band have been influenced by maiden at some point copied no, metallica and iron maiden are much different stylistically , better is a matter of opinion and what you like personally they're both great bands i like em both i don't see why i or anyone else would ever have to choose between em isn't it possible to like both at the same time if i choose to? it's annoying the way some people always have to rate everything i like both equally for different reasons :)
