Thank you very much! I was thinking of singing the sea shante "What do you do with a drunken sailor." with my US History Students but I don't want to use the word drunken. I could never stand it when my teachers say,"Oh, Good." To every little dinky thing we ever did. Is that really considered decent feedback? You can do something wrong, and get "good" how does that effect things. He just overly does it, and sounds like he's talking to three year olds...what's up?

@glowingdarkmatter25 Using a lot of "over the top" intonation and paralinguistic cues (movement, tone of voice, gestures, etc.) can help create more comprehensible input for English Language Learners. I agree that it sounds over the top out of context, but as far as creating comprehensible input for a student's second language development, it is an effective method for beginner/intermediate students.

I'm thoroughly confused. But stepping out of your comfort zone... that's a very dangerous thing to practice. What she should really be teaching is expanding the comfort zone. Stepping out of it creates withdrawal that people call "shyness".
