Ford didn't get a direct bailout.....they did get a few indirect bailouts...1) Cash for Clunkers was paid for by tax credits(governement collects less money and has bigger deficit). 2) The Fed, which long ago stopped being independent, keeps fed funds rate at 0-1/4% and bought trillions in loans and hundreds of billions in treasuries to keep rates lower than they would be, exposing the taxpayers to a lot of risk. The govt guaranteed most of the new car loans that the big banks made.
