@Alyseflick dont smoke pot, u will become immune to it and need more and more to get stoned. eventually u will need to smoke just to feel normal and anxiety and mood swings will be 10 fold once u cant get any. not to mention the hassle of scoring and the cost. u will get the munchies when u start smoking it but after a while it suppresses ur appetite and u end up smoking instead of eating. i'm on my 3rd day of taking zoloft, my dr prescribed it for depression and to help quit smoking pot.
@tradward Well, unless serotonin deficiency is your issue, then zoloft won't be the answer. It could be any chemical issue if it is chemical at all. There are different classes of drugs for different issues. The worst drugs are BENZOS though. They don't cure anything. They just relieve symptoms.

You wouldn't feel like your on speed from it, in fact many people take it at night to help them sleep because it often makes you tired. When I first started taking it in the mornings it made me really tired, and this was right after I woke up so saying you feel like your on speed and cant sleep from it is a load of bullshit. @FoeverDirt serotonin in your brain can have a number of effects on your body and Zoloft increases the amount of it. People all have a different body chemistry and they can react in different ways. Why don't you take some Zoloft in order to mellow out? You sure seem to need a lot of it.

i was just prescribed zoloft and concerta. my teeth clench, and my jaw pops, which causes headaches actually. i am a talkative person and when i'm just on zoloft i don't want to talk at all. it was prescribed to me for anxiety and depression, so along with adhd i'm also a basket case. it's hard for me to fall asleep, and stay asleep. i'm more tired than i used to be, but it makes my anxiety less common so i don't feel the sensation of being choked.

It's sad. A few observations, take whatever you think is useful:
1. Stop the meds now
Withdrawal symptoms are caused largely by the fact that the meds damage your body physically. Psychiatric drugs are poisons. While on the meds, you are not aware of it. When you cut the meds off however, you have to deal with the fact that you have been poisoned in addition to your original problem. The longer you use it, the more damage you cause and the harder/dangerous it is to get off.
Hang in there sis. The sense of well-being and of being in control will soon follow, and soon after that you will find yourself happy most of the time. Hang in there. Let it work.

hey, i live in canada. and you can write back if you want. but you sound alot about how i feel. when i got out of rehab i thought i could be put back on a anti depressant which was celexa , went on effexor(WORSE) and zoloft and ritalin but gave up the ritalin except casually....and anyway.. i understand how you feel.. and its so annoying cause i dont know what to do either i just got put back on anti depressants and havent been taking, (zoloft) asked for the msallest dose but i dont know! lol
I believe the panic attacks are caused by something wrong in our bodies. Check out pyroluria and high copper levels. I was having panic attacks really severe all of a sudden. Dr's don't like it if you question taking the pills they throw at you. Would be nice if medical Drs would learn how to test for what we need in our bodies and cure that instead of giving pills to cover it up. I'm on my iPhone now looking at YouTube videos at 5am unable to sleep. This is unusual for me because I have never had problems sleeping. I'm scared of the long-term effects and the withdrawal effects as well. I still feel a sense of something is not right, but people say I seem to be doing a lot better. Sucks I don't know what to do.
This was 07, and I just started taking zoloft three weeks ago. I was like you; I could feel the effects almost immediately. I feel happier, and my anxiety is a lot less, but nit completely gone. I feel bugged out though, and it's the second week I've had trouble sleeping.
I came home after two tours in Iraq with PTSD. I was wounded from an IED, and dealt with heavy anxiety for s long time. I saw a psychiatrist for like a year, and resisted meds because I was scared to mess with my brain.

I started Zoloft with one doc in high school, then I had a new doc in college. She was a bit of a "pill-pusher" too; she kept wanting to up my dose, and I was always like "no, this shit sucks". So I eventually got sick of the nagging and quit cold turkey. I was only on about 50-75mg when I did this, but yeah, the withdrawal SUCKED. I went to the doc, they said "swine flu, thats not withdrawal at all". So I continued my meds, then stopped again... SAME symptoms! I say screw meds, weed is best.

You should try bupropion - as it is the other side of the "brain balancing" meds.
I take both sertraline and bupropion.
I think some of this has to be psychosomatic - meaning your brain is doing this - ( Placebo effect ) - because real pharmacological effects don't happen for about 4-6 weeks.

I have taken it on and off for a few years.. It has helped me alot, and I have never had withdrawal. I only take it when I start to experince anxiety from my period, it helps alot.
Sweetheart you need to talk about your problems with a psychatrist, the only person who can save you from your emotional and psychological pressures, you don't need those stupid drugs, doctors like to take short cuts because they are busy people and don't like to spend time talking about or hearing about peoples problems. Psychatrists are great people and they will slowly help you to cope and recover. Short cuts using drugs and hoping for an immediate result is something that will never happen.
The funny thing is, both Ecstasy and Zoloft work on the same chemicals in the brain, serotonin, and to a lesser extent, dopamine, but obviously in different ways.

I have huge anxiety problems myself and hate medication, so I tried some interesting herbs that seem to work pretty well. I just cycle through them so that I do not become tolerant or addicted. You might want to try Blue Lotus, Damiana leaf, Kava kava, and kanna. Plus these herbs are really cheap if you buy them in bulk.
Some people just cant take certian meds. My cousin was taking Prozac called us and though there were ninja's around her house and was scared to come out. Yeah, that's pretty much what I had. Mind racing, lots of strange perception issues; but I think that was largely due to my anxiety about BEING on it. Then, after 3 weeks, I had to come off it as I was just really intense and even violent, throwing things all over the place pissed off at people.

When I started taking it, I felt like I was on speed too. I get still get that after a couple of months of taking zoloft sometimes. I'm up to 150 mg for the next 7-10 months. What starting dose did your doc put you on? Mine told me to start taking 25 mg and increase by another 25 every week. I never get hungry with Zoloft, but, it's not hard to eat.
Honestly, if you think that the dose is too high just adjust it yourself. The only thing that you really need to worry about is the liver
My psych is very, very honest. He explicitly told me that he wants me to get my liver checked every couple months or so because zoloft can, after a long time cause some issues. He also said that when you're coming off do NOT just stop taking them. I missed a dose from oversleeping (all nighter from Uni studies) and I felt horrible until the pills kicked in. You have to ween yourself off of them. Last time I stopped, I weened off and then took 5-htp and st. john's wort after I stopped completely.
The 5-htp, taken with a b vitamin complex helps replenish serotonin and st. john's wort is a plant with SSRI properties, but in my experience is nowhere near as addictive as the pharmaceutical grade SSRIs. All else fails, demand to be put on a different medication... but don't let the doc pressure you into prozac! Mine tried, but I had done enough research to tell him why I didn't want to take it.

Zoloft. Dangerous. Nasty. I got away from that evil stuff long ago. I'm having withdrawal symptoms from Effexor. I finished it on Thursday. I start Parnate on Friday (a week in between) it's coping now that's the real Ƥisser. To anyone changing antidepressants - good luck. It's a rough ride for all.

@Alyseflick Weed slows you down a bit, thats part of the anti anxiety effects, if you are sensitive to pills then your probably sensitive to Weed, so if you smoke some weed, just smoke a very little bit.
its probably best to do After work, when your done with your day, but it WILL help you sleep!

@Alyseflick dont smoke pot, u will become immune to it and need more and more to get stoned. eventually u will need to smoke just to feel normal and anxiety and mood swings will be 10 fold once u cant get any. not to mention the hassle of scoring and the cost. u will get the munchies when u start smoking it but after a while it suppresses ur appetite and u end up smoking instead of eating. i'm on my 3rd day of taking zoloft, my dr prescribed it for depression and to help quit smoking pot.

@tradward Well, unless serotonin deficiency is your issue, then zoloft won't be the answer. It could be any chemical issue if it is chemical at all. There are different classes of drugs for different issues. The worst drugs are BENZOS though. They don't cure anything. They just relieve symptoms.

its my 3-4 day of being on zoloft and I feel great.I too had dificulty sleeping the first night I took it.I feel hyper on zoloft.Kept on turning and rolling in bed and couldnt sleep for half the night.So I decided to take it in the mornings and I felt much better.The whole day I felt wide awake but in a relaxed state of mind.It seems to be helping my anxiety.Although I do feel a bit edgy on this stuff..

You wouldn't feel like your on speed from it, in fact many people take it at night to help them sleep because it often makes you tired. When I first started taking it in the mornings it made me really tired, and this was right after I woke up so saying you feel like your on speed and cant sleep from it is a load of bullshit. i was just prescribed zoloft and concerta. my teeth clench, and my jaw pops, which causes headaches actually. i am a talkative person and when i'm just on zoloft i don't want to talk at all. it was prescribed to me for anxiety and depression, so along with adhd i'm also a basket case. it's hard for me to fall asleep, and stay asleep. i'm more tired than i used to be, but it makes my anxiety less common so i don't feel the sensation of being choked.

It's sad. A few observations, take whatever you think is useful:
1. Stop the meds now
Withdrawal symptoms are caused largely by the fact that the meds damage your body physically. Psychiatric drugs are poisons. While on the meds, you are not aware of it. When you cut the meds off however, you have to deal with the fact that you have been poisoned in addition to your original problem. The longer you use it, the more damage you cause and the harder/dangerous it is to get off.

I believe the panic attacks are caused by something wrong in our bodies. Check out pyroluria and high copper levels. I was having panic attacks really severe all of a sudden. Dr's don't like it if you question taking the pills they throw at you. Would be nice if medical Drs would learn how to test for what we need in our bodies and cure that instead of giving pills to cover it up. I started Zoloft with one doc in high school, then I had a new doc in college. She was a bit of a "pill-pusher" too; she kept wanting to up my dose, and I was always like "no, this shit sucks". So I eventually got sick of the nagging and quit cold turkey. I was only on about 50-75mg when I did this, but yeah, the withdrawal SUCKED. I went to the doc, they said "swine flu, thats not withdrawal at all". So I continued my meds, then stopped again... SAME symptoms! I say screw meds, weed is best.

You should try bupropion - as it is the other side of the "brain balancing" meds.
I take both sertraline and bupropion.
I think some of this has to be psychosomatic - meaning your brain is doing this - ( Placebo effect ) - because real pharmacological effects don't happen for about 4-6 weeks.

Sweetheart you need to talk about your problems with a psychatrist, the only person who can save you from your emotional and psychological pressures, you don't need those stupid drugs, doctors like to take short cuts because they are busy people and don't like to spend time talking about or hearing about peoples problems. Psychatrists are great people and they will slowly help you to cope and recover. Short cuts using drugs and hoping for an immediate result is something that will never happen.

I have huge anxiety problems myself and hate medication, so I tried some interesting herbs that seem to work pretty well. I just cycle through them so that I do not become tolerant or addicted. You might want to try Blue Lotus, Damiana leaf, Kava kava, and kanna. Plus these herbs are really cheap if you buy them in bulk.

Some people just cant take certian meds. My cousin was taking Prozac called us and though there were ninja's around her house and was scared to come out. Yeah, that's pretty much what I had. Mind racing, lots of strange perception issues; but I think that was largely due to my anxiety about BEING on it. Then, after 3 weeks, I had to come off it as I was just really intense and even violent, throwing things all over the place pissed off at people.

Smoke some weed!! Fuck all these pills, i get some fukked up anxiety attacks so intense that i cant really discribe but all i did was started smoking some dank medical and my anxiety is gone completly after two years of just weed. Trust me it helps. Zoloft is fukked up dont do it dude

I have taken Zoloft too and yes it makes me feel like I am on Ecstasy. Dialated pupils, clenching teeth, my jaw would vibrate when i yawned. I felt fucked.

everybody reacts diffrent 2 diffrent drugs i felt like that before they put me on zoloft, i needed zoloft 2 take my anxiety effects away from PTSD ,try smoking weed with zoloft, it fuckin sucks, makes you not wanna smoke on zoloft ever again, its a OK drug im taking it with seriquil right now and the little side effects i get im just so used to it, it feels better than when im not on it and its helping my PTSD

@Spaceillusion02 Most don't believe doctors. Like me now I've started to hesitate whether I should take them or not. My doctor got mad at me because I'm not taking my med. right "the way it should." What should I do? I'm supposed to take two pills - one in the morning and one @ night. But now I usually take the one in the morning (100mg). That's why he got mad. @Spaceillusion02 But I still get withdrawn symptoms. The thing is I got paranoid with what she said you could get permanent brain damage when taking them. I'm scared! Now, I don't know if to follow what my psychologist says, or to stop taking them and never now anything about them. At times I forget words to explain things. But that seems to be decreasing now. What I worry more is about waking up drowsy for school. Maybe I should take half of each pill a day, starting now. I'm lost!

The first time I took Zoloft I felt... extremely weird as if I was on some kind of happy pills mixed with vodka and adderal so after that if leveled off then I stoped taking it before I went through 50 had 15 left. Peeps dont take this crap. Just smoke weed =]

When I started taking it, I felt like I was on speed too. I get still get that after a couple of months of taking zoloft sometimes. I'm up to 150 mg for the next 7-10 months. What starting dose did your doc put you on? Mine told me to start taking 25 mg and increase by another 25 every week. I never get hungry with Zoloft, but, it's not hard to eat.
Honestly, if you think that the dose is too high just adjust it yourself. The only thing that you really need to worry about is the liver

My psych is very, very honest. He explicitly told me that he wants me to get my liver checked every couple months or so because zoloft can, after a long time cause some issues. He also said that when you're coming off do NOT just stop taking them. I missed a dose from oversleeping (all nighter from Uni studies) and I felt horrible until the pills kicked in. You have to ween yourself off of them. Last time I stopped, I weened off and then took 5-htp and st. john's wort after I stopped completely.

The 5-htp, taken with a b vitamin complex helps replenish serotonin and st. john's wort is a plant with SSRI properties, but in my experience is nowhere near as addictive as the pharmaceutical grade SSRIs. All else fails, demand to be put on a different medication... but don't let the doc pressure you into prozac! Mine tried, but I had done enough research to tell him why I didn't want to take it.
