Furthermore, neither Ella Shohat nor myself are myself are moslem (Shohat is an American Sephardic Jew who teaches at CUNY; I am an atheist). Finally, there is no reason why Palestinian refugees should have to "get over" the "mentality ...of return". Sephardic Jews should be able to return if they would like; they should be compensated if they would rather. The same goes for Palestinians.

Which ignores that 1. many (but surely not all) of the Jewish refugees voluntarily relocated to Israel, 2. that the Jewish exodus happened after the Palestinian exodus, and 3. states often don't greet refugees w/ open arms (Israel being an exception as it was hungry for Jewish refugees). Nothing you've said has done anything to diminish the fact that the guy in the video is owed compensation by Israel.
