  • this is good for fighters, its just overspeed training like when you cycle and get towed along by a motorcycle at faster than your highest RPM or when you pull back and use a stretched band to propel you forward at the start of a sprint. The bands providing more tension when pulled back so they will pull the fist forward accelerating the punch and help reinforce the neuromuscular connection through stimulating the CNS and strengthen the eccentric control of the antagonist muscles.

  • man dont waste our time by posting such boring videos

  • Gay.

  • that must be a muay thai pants writing 'Naoki'? haha i have one too, written my gym's name on it

  • @Kurenai013XJPN it's naoki ishikawa.

  • In the pro boxing gyms we put small 1 pound hands inside the fist, so you can shadow box with this weight. The sets of punches with 5lb wieghts.. 400 hundred punches. Also rather than getting big 18 ounce gloves get 10 ounce gloves and put a 1lb wrist band tapped to the gloved ..this really works...I had 25 KO's in my 38 fights and 99% was due to hand speed...Nigel Benn used to allways warm up with these hand weights, and he had fast hands...

  • to train ur speed put weights on ur arm and punch a punch bag, cuz the weight takes ur arm ur arm gets used 2 the speed and once u take off the weights ur arm is ready to shoot like a rocket

  • true, but people should be careful not to do this too much because it can really damage their joints and most of the time throw off their technique. Id say the best thing to do is just practice over and over until you naturally get faster. Just like riding a bike, you wouldnt be good at it if you had weights on your training wheels right?

  • your right but i mean like, u can rest when ever you want to and like you are using force on somefink so most of the weight just leans on the bag lol well dats what i do anywaiz and it works

  • yeah im not saying it doesnt work, i know it does, but i just think if you do it too much it'd be counteractive you know? still, the best thing to do is to just cycle through exercises. Thats just my opinion.

  • The fighters here are actually training there antagonist muscles to be able to decelarte the punching arm. This needs to happen otherwise the arm would continue forward out of the shoulder joint (according to newton's law of motion) By getting the antagonist muscles stronger the body would then allow more force of the agonist musle to be used thus resulting in a faster and more powerfull punch.

  • nice explanation,I hope it's true:D

  • but isn't this exercise make your punch slower if you would do the same exercise but with weights(on your feet with your upper body parallel to the ground)and 5 kg in each hand?

  • @bertramlevaughn wow reallysmart bet you cant fight joke

  • @bboyhwoarang5 Bruce Lee was a literal genius in his understanding of how the muscles worked, and spoke about them as bertram just did.

How can you use intelligence as an accurate connotation to ones ability to fight?? The best fighters are the smart ones who will put thought into it. Thought more than "ground and pound". Look at Jon Jones in UFC right now.

  • @bertramlevaughn Its called impulse. The velocity of deceleration is directly coorelated with the speed of antagonistic muscular cxontraction. Thus neural units are trainned to respond quickly in this exercise

  • I don't even know why I'm posting my comment here when most people posting on youtube don't even know what they're talking about, yet they try really hard to pretend they do. sigh.

What the people doing in the video is training their recoil. What the title means by training speed is actually consecutive punching speed, not the speed of a single punch. The faster you can bring your fists back, the quicker you can throw another punch. Kickers do recoil training too, most notably the TKD folks.

  • Has this helped your speed? I have read that this training does raise hand speed by affecting muscle memory or something. What have been your results?

  • actually it looks like they're trying to apply "overspeed training" principles.

but you can't do this for extended amounts of time due to over stimulation.

  • they should use the resistance bands facing the other way if they want to train punching speed. Doing it like that they're training retracting speed like vietguy said.

  • i agree..all this is gonna do is increase the speed of the return to block..i think way more emphasis should be put on the speed of the actual strike and everything else will fall in line

  • if you know anything about fighting then you would realize that being able to pull the fist back to defend is just as important as how fast it gets out there

  • @mikasddd very fuckin true

  • @mikasddd and the faster u can get it back the fast u can throw a new punch i guess xD? im smart (ironic)

  • i agree with you ilovesilvia69

  • you can pull a muscle doing that

  • Looks like silly string. =)

  • do u know anything abt training,,,,their developing retracting speed after the punch, its a bungee chord ...
