His point is clearly not that slavery was good; rather it is that he comes from a state with a large black population and that he is not from a "whitebread state" that doesn't understand racial issues.

I think that it is rather clear that Biden considers the facts that his state was at one point a slave state and a boarder state to be a set of facts which reveal a profound connection between his state and the states which seceded from the union. Such a paralell is not only condecending to the inhabitants of former slave states in that it assumes a kind of camaraderie in that fact, but it also reveals the degree to which biden is a buffoon.

I don't think his remarks are problematic. He's saying that his state was a slave state, and therefore has a large black population to this day. Historically, black populations were concentrated in the southern states which had slavery.
His point is clearly not that slavery was good; rather it is that he comes from a state with a large black population and that he is not from a "whitebread state" that doesn't understand racial issues.

The only social upheaval we saw on election day was the 75% turnout, and the 10s of millions who rose up against this current government and broke the social boundaries of American society to vote for a President who WILL enact genuine change. I am open to the fact that the Florida vote was rigged in 2001, and Bush probably did the same in 2004. Partisanship is the very thing that ensures the political system and electoral structure in America doesn't fuck up. If Americans, being so diverse in culture and belief, were to vote on issues rather than their leaders, nothing would get done, and there would be an even greater democratic vacuum. That's precisely my thoughts on Obama. Listen to both. Pick out the truth. So far, while the McCain camp hasn't been entirely truthful on all accounts, Obama's been far less honest. Obama himself has said that he's been in that church over 20 years. There's also videographic evidence that he was there during a hate-filled and racist sermon. In Christmas '07, I believe, was one of Wright's racist sermons, and Obama was there, Wright even took time to point him out, and all on video.

Many people will be voting for Obama this November not because they approve of his political stance, or believe his lies, but rather because he's black.
