  • Why did it foul up at 1:45-47? It was not explained what a chain is.

    Sorry for the long delay in replying to your comment. A chain is when 2 or more notes are joined or stuck together, either by the paper becoming somehow linked or by another substance being present.

    Dirty or torn notes can be linked in this way, the important thing is that the machine stops when it detects such a chain, to avoid any chance of a miscount.
