Great Vid,but I'm a bit confused. When you're done , do you pour in ultracal 30,white hydracal , and any other gypsum material to remake the white base your started with. I've watched plenty of videos but I never can seem to find the right answer. An answer would be greatly appreciated.
@BiggerRecordsUs This mold is suitable for casting just about any gypsum material from plaster to ultracal. The purpose of this step is to make a mold for reproducing face casts for prosthetic work.
@willc2 Unlike polyester resin (bondo), Polyurethane resin has almost no odor and the odor it has is not bad at all. If you are using large quantities of resin it is a good idea to work in a well ventalated room.
What's the average lifespan of one of these molds? I have a lifecast I did of my father before he died and I'd like to make a long-lasting reusable mold so I can make copies of the lifecast and I don't want to have to make alginate molds of the orginal cast over and over and risk damaging it. Thanks...love your videos!
Wow thank you, I buy ready made molding pieces for my home but they get very expensive. From now on, I will simply buy one that I like and make molds of them...that way I can replace something for a lot less.
Anyone know where I can get this Poly Fiber? Ive been looking for a while now in Orlando and the areas surrounding. No one seems to know what I am talking about, even at the art stores.
i want to make movies, but all i have to make them with his my cosones, and thay have no expserne in doing casting masks, how sould i help them perpare for it?
sure. amateurs should record what they have even if it's with a lil camcorder or even the video function on their digital camera. you can show other people and of you mess up ther is something you can show not to do as well.

A mold like this will last many years if made and handled properly. If you are making plaster casts from the mold it will be good for 100+ copies.

Sheesh. That looks WAY easier than dealing with fiberglass and polyester resin for lightweight mother-molds. I look forward to trying it.
