Okay, this has always bugged me. Superman says "I will not have vigilantes in my city" - isn't Superman, technically, a vigilante as well?
I know he doesn't go as far as Batman as "taking the law into his own hands"... but, essentially, isn't he doing just that when he takes Luthor and drops him off in jail - or is that just viewed as a citizens arrest?

Techinally, Superman is not a vigilante in that Superman is by the book, Superman tends to put too much of his faith in the government, not to mention he won't play "bad cop" to get the bad guys. Batman is willing to do that and is willing to go outside the law if he feels he needs to. He is also willing to take on the government if he feel he needs to. Even with Gordon, Batman pretty much runs the show. Superman is just there when you need him.

In Mask of the Phantasm, they police thought he was killing criminals. The Metropolis police had to do the same thing to Superman in the Episode called Legacy.
you're taking this too far. Batman is just considered a vigilante. He operates at night and is secretive. Superman flies around in blue tights and he doesn't even wear a mask. Superman doesn't really stop common crimes like batman does either. He catches plans and fights aliens and bald businessmen.
Looking at the episode lists on the DVD though The World Finest is on there though... I've read that on Wikipedia I might add! Still wish I could have the Superman TAS on DVD someday! :D

2. He has no vendetta against a criminal. He talks enemies through justice and believes that they can change, even luthor.

Then why do most street cops and detectives go out of their way to help him? They, like Metropolis's police, realize Batman's importance to Gotham. Batman may not be endorsed by the police but the police protect and respect him.

i agree, but an endorsement will take away his vigilante status. Of course, this would mean he'd have to take orders from them, and they take advantage of his ability to cross lines they can't. Most cops do, but he is a vigilante, and that's why he's awesome. If you watch Mask of the Phantasm, he fights the police. Most do like him though, i agree

In Mask of the Phantasm, they police thought he was killing criminals. The Metropolis police had to do the same thing to Superman in the Episode called Legacy.

you're taking this too far. Batman is just considered a vigilante. He operates at night and is secretive. Superman flies around in blue tights and he doesn't even wear a mask. Superman doesn't really stop common crimes like batman does either. He catches plans and fights aliens and bald businessmen.
