  • Can you please tell me what the multiple is for making different sized scarves, etc? Would love to make other items for my family with same stitch. Also, do you remember how much "yarn" you used to make one scarf? Thank you very much!! Beth

  • Another awesome video, Thank you, Y

  • Thanks alot for your video I finally have conplited my first scarf Love it n my kids do took. Love the way you give directions thank you so much.

  • @Miss1yoly You are welcome! Now you will have some fun things to custom make for your family. The color changes in this scarf would be great for school colors.

  • I have just started crochet not long ago and your video have helped me make so many things for my family already...keep up the good work please!!

  • @pingximi I appreciate the comment, thank you! :)

  • Hi I have one question after you make the two stiches n you go on to the next step do you put the hook on the first tich or the last I am a little confuse = (

  • thank you a looot

    waaaaooow i love your work

  • @lovexspx7 Thank you.

  • @TheCalicoTwo It would make a beautiful afghan by starting off with a longer chain. A larger hook should make it a bit lacier and less stiff. Thank you!

  • I love your videos but I keep messing this up. On the first galaxy stitch, you begin in 2nd chain from hook and then in the 1st sc. After this you skip a sc and insert in the next sc to finish the stitch. Going by this format, the last galaxy stitch would end on the 33rd sc, no? I'm sure you're correct I was just wondering if you could help me figure out where I'm messing up because this is a great stitch but I just can't seem to get it.

  • @dirtdiggler7 What I suggest is that you open the video details and visit my crochet blog. You will find the link to written instructions and symbol instructions. Hopefully that will help it make more sense.

  • estan muy claras las instruccciones, sé poco inglés pero es muy claro GRACIAS

  • Ok im new and this and i cant figuare out the foundation SC stitch. Can you break it down for me in simple terms? After that i have it. Its just my first row just doesnt look right.

  • hi teresa!!! do u have any videos to see how to crochet a shawl?

  • I am making this scarf for my sister and it has been a battle. I do not know what I am doing but some how my scarf is gradually becoming more narrow. It's driving me crazy! Winter is almost over and I am getting discouraged :(

can you tell me what I am doing?

  • @20lifetimesofsmiles It is possible that you are missing stitches on the edge or you may be crocheting tighter as you work the scarf. If your stitch count is the same as the beginning of the scarf, they you are crocheting tighter.

  • I have a question. If I'd like to make a narrower scarf, what the multiple for this stitch would be?

  • how would i do this if i wanted to make a blanket with this stitch?

  • @mstt2780 You would make a long chain of about 225 to start.

  • @tjw1963 thank you

  • Beautiful. Thanks for sharing the way to made it.

  • @PnotBother You are welcome!

  • awesome. thank you so much.

  • @rubychan19 You are welcome.

  • what is the best measure for the needles to make the scarf?

  • @rubychan19 There is a wide range of hook sizes that will work for the scarf. If you are using 4 ply yarn, you can use a size I/5.5mm hook.

  • Can you show the easiest way to hold the loose yarn? I hold mine between my index finger and my middle finger and my hand tends to cramp so much I have to stop often to rest it.

  • @gigglezzz707 I sent you two videos showing how I hold my yarn.

  • @tjw1963

Can you send me the videos too?

I'm having a hard time holding my yarn also.

    Thank you.

    :)

  • Thank you very much for your videos. I haven't done any crochet in about 16 years, but I'm well underway again thanks to your creative videos!

  • @mankymcmank It is great that you have taken an interest in crochet again. Thank you!

  • I want to make one scarf for my daughter and husband but i'm not sure which yarn i should get from them?

  • @kissthefrog84 You can use a variety of crochet yarn with this stitch. I recommend a 4 ply yarn.

  • I absolutely loveeeeeee your videos. i just got finished with this scarf and also added the flower on your other video to my scarf, sooo pretty. Thanks for the lesson!!!

  • @MzzKrazyG You are welcome! :)

  • You are awesome. I'm satarted crochet 15 days ago. And with your videos i can make my first scraf. It was so easy with your explanations. I tray with magazines but i cand do nothing.

    Thank you so mucho.

  • @MayumiCamui Please share a picture on my Facebook page when you are finished.

  • Oh! finally I found something easier for a scarf..thanks a lot Teresa..by the way you didn't reply, what should I do..use a larger hook or increase stiches to make a dress for ages 2 to 7?..Please Teresa reply 'cuz I have to make it asap!!

  • @Bufurzone It will take a lot of modification, along with trial and error. Pretty much revising the whole pattern and starting from scratch.

  • @tjw1963 I see huh!..thanks anyway dear.

  • I was wondering how much yarn is used to make this scarf?

  • @bebea15 1000 meters/ 914 yards should be enough for both colors.

  • can you do a video on this type of scarf but using DC? of post some dirrectons on how to do it? thanks!! :)

  • Is this the only video that demonstrates the galaxy stitch? I really want to learn this one but I couldn't keep up. It was at :50 secs that I got lost. I couldn't see which whole you went through. Please help :-)

  • @Eyespychica This is where im getting lost as well. Did you ever find out how to start ot?I cant see which hole to use either.

  • i have learned so much from your videos thank you so much

  • @247videos247 You are welcome.

  • i have used that exact same blue yarn, the spools arent very good though. we had to turn it into a ball. and we didnt save much yarn. (spools get tangeled up alot inside.)

  • Gosh words don't seem adequate to say how grateful I am to you for posting your videos. I am just in awe at the amazing patterns and stitches you can do , and make it seem so easy, that my confidence level has grown by leaps and bounds, and I am now ready to venture out into some new projects beyond dc scarfs, and sc pot holders. Again Thank You so very much!

  • @Oreocremerocks Thank you for the comment. I appreciate it!.

  • I made a nice baby blanket for my nephew using this stitch .. It was easy to do and made up in no time .. thank you for all your help teaching me to crochet :)

  • That's a really beautiful stitch! Thanks so much for the brilliant, clear instructions. :-)

  • @ashandcharlotte Thank you, I appreciate the comment.

  • can you put some knitting videos please

  • I would if I knew how to knit.

  • Teresa, I love the look of this pattern and am trying it now, the foundation row almost blinded me, lol. Just one thing, I love the sturdy look of the foundation row, but how will I make it look the same at the end of the scarf? You're the best on the web; amazingly talented. We all love you over here.

  • I appreciate the comment. You can work a chain instead of the foundation row. You can end the scarf with a row of single crochet so both ends match.

  • This is one the most beautiful stiches I have learned in crocheting. I made a mobius (infinity) scarf and it looks great. You are a great teacher.

  • Thank you very much. I appreciate the comment.

  • Love the look of this stitch. I would like to use this stitch for a shawl. What yarn would you suggest?

P.S. I while back I made 3 chemo caps for my mom from your site. They came out great !thanks

  • I would suggest that you go to your local yarn store and find something that you like.

  • hi teresa im from mexico and i love youre videos they are so great, and i wanna know if exist a galaxy stich crochet for a hat and sorry for my inglish its a little bad :P thanks :)

  • I have not worked through a pattern for a hat with this stitch yet.

  • ohh.... this is a really pretty stitch:) finally something else i can use that isnt too complicated;)

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I've been looking a long time for easy-to-follow instructions to make some more complicated stitches. I absolutely adore your videos, you rock! :)

  • I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • thanks

  • also.. how many rolls of each color did you go through to produce 1 of the scarfs?

  • I used 2 skeins total with 244 yards/223 meters each skein.

  • what size hook did you use? also. is it a nylon based yarn or cotton?

  • Size i/5.5mm crochet hook acrylic yarn. This stitch can be done with different size hooks and yarns.

  • HI Teresa!

Thanks for your advise.. it was very helpful! Im very satisfied with solomons knot stitch.

    Thanks again!!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Hi Teresa!

How are you? I think its been a very longtime i've come up with some silly questions :)

Im very much interested in making a shrug for myself.. I found a very simple crochet shrug pattern on the internet.. That is 3 rows of double crochet & ending up with joining the edges.. I want to make something which looks very delicate & eligant.. can you please suggest me a different crochet design stitch other than double crochet stitch.

    Thanks :)

  • I will suggest solomon's knot. I will forward you the link separately.

  • thank you so much dear! i would love to learn a new stitch.. But how will i continue upto three rows?

  • How many rows will it take for me to make a shrug? for a normal shrug with double crochet it takes 3 rows.. how about this one?

  • Comment removed

  • What you can do is find a shrug pattern and the substitute the stitch with another stitch. Google is great for finding crochet patterns.

  • im only 16 and just learning the very basics of crocheting.. ive looked at alot of your videos and all i can say is HOLY CRAP that is really very amazing what you can do. i can only hope one day i am good as you. i really enjoy doing this. this paticular one is still too advanced for me right now im trying to mkae a seed stich baby blanket and i just CANNOT get the hang of it.. anyway your awesome =D

  • Thank you, I appreciate your comment. I would suggest to start of with the easier patterns and practice a lot. Before you know it you will know how to do this pattern.

  • yeah im making a blanket right now for a friends baby.. its turning out really well. its purple and white ^^

  • can you do jacket patern??

  • You can use this stitch on a jacket, once you find a pattern that you like. I would suggest doing a google search.

  • Love your tutorials! For this particular scarf, how much yarn did you use? Just the one blue and white? Thanks!

  • Yes, one blue and one white of the super size.

  • thanks for your videos. I have a quick question, about how long does it take YOU to crochet a regular scarf about 5inches wide and 40 inches long?

  • That would probably take me anywhere from 1-2 hours depending on the stitch.

  • Muchas gracias por tus clases, me han sido muy útiles =)

    Thank you

  • You are welcome. :)

  • every scarf has a story and i love it - i got my scarf when at the winter games as an international volunteer - i love it and its made it back home with me to Ireland - thank you to all who made the games really momentous and beautiful scarfs with a story we'll just never know :)

  • Thank you. :)

  • hi can u please show us the video on how to make a blazer

  • thank you for that scarf, i am working on it. my mom watched the video with me and she loved your work so much.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • great video! I found this to be pretty simple and its a lovely stitch!

  • Thank you. I appreciate your comments and feedback. :)

  • I enjoyed this scarf...I'm excited to try it, but more than likely it won't come out the same...haha. Thanks for the video...

  • I bet you will do yours perfect. The only thing that will probably be different is the color. Please post a video response when you are finished. :)

  • .... watching your video... makes me excited to try it, but at the same time... i kinda wish i could just buy the scarf from you...lol

  • Thank you. :)

  • Hi Teresa, I love this stitch, I think it may the prettiest I've done since learning to crochet. Now I have a tutor in addition to my mom. Luv luv luv. Thanks

  • You are welcome. :)

  • I had no idea I can crochet. I used the Galaxy stich to make Christmas stockings,a hat and a baby blanket. Thank you

  • You are welcome. :)

  • HI tjw1963 im having trouble with the first row before you start the Galaxy stich it just does not look like yours Please help!

  • What seems to be wrong?

  • i'm having the same problem..

i don't even know where to put the hook to begin with..T.T

  • How long have you been crocheting?

  • i've just started so i don't even understand the crocheting language yet..^^;

  • hi teresa, would love for the instructions for a hat (may be a beanie) with the galaxy stitch :)

  • This one has been a challenge in making a hat but I will get it.

  • Went a read the pattern at your link, couldn't find the size of crochet hook you used, did I miss it? Thanks

  • I don't have the size hook posted. I used a size "I" hook.

  • Absolutly amazing!

I can do amigurumi and most anything involving single or double (or tripple, but that leaves big holes, of course)crochet.

I can't wait to learn this! Thanks!

  • You are welcome. Post a comment if you need help.

  • hi teresa am having problem when reaching the end of a row am still on the 3rd row and have only 15 galaxy's instead of 16,but the 2 previous rows have 16 galaxy's stitch. Can you please help me..??

  • What that means is that you missed a stitch in your 3rd row somewhere. I had the same thing happen to me a few times. At one point I had to rip out about 5 rows to get back to the row where I lost the stitch. The only thing you can do is rip the yarn out until you find where you missed. Sometimes it is easier to rip the whole row and start over.

  • Thank you for another great stitch! I am 3/4 way through another scarf using this stitch, and for my fuzzy supersoft yarns this is much easier than some other stitches where you have to be very precise... it's gonna be so soft. This moves as fast as the "v" stitch, but fills in much more for a much warmer scarf! Thanks again!

  • You are welcome. I appreciate your feedback on the stitch.

  • Oeh really pretty, thank you ^^

I might make one of these for my dad who has been nagging me to make him a scarf ^^

  • You are welcome. :)

  • So pretty...thank you for sharing this wonderful stitch. Must try it out asap :).

  • You are welcome. :)

  • TJW, I'm in crochetpartners with you and this is a wonderful, quick stitch once you get the hang of it and it flows quickly. I'm making a lapghan for my paraplegic aunt with this stitch and thank you so much for making it easy to learn. Keep up the good work!

  • It is great to hear from a Crochetpartner. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the stitch how easily the stitch works up. It appears to be harder than what it really is.

  • This is so pretty! I really like that stitch.

  • It works up so nice and easy. I am hoping to come up with a pattern for a hat. It will make a really nice hat/scarf combination.

  • I agree!

  • I really look forward to the hat. Would love to make a set for my grandkids.

  • I really love your work, you've inspired me so much, I'm glad someone else is sending scarf as well. Thank You, Luvs!

  • Thank you. :)

  • wow i love that stitch... thanks you

  • You are welcome. :)

  • What a wonderful stitch! Can't wait to use it. Looks really modern. Did you create it yourself?

  • Thank you, Yes I did create it myself.

  • Thank you so much. This is beautiful. :)

  • You are welcome. :)
