It was also stated in the video that Linux is good "IF" you can get it to work, but i failed to see any of these difficulties demonstrated during the Linux Mint install or subsequent useage. Finally, it was stated that "You can`t do a lot that requires Windows obviously". Probably another reference to gaming and even that is becoming more and more debateable.
I guess i will never understand this myth that is constantly going around even by computer literate people the Linux is hard, can`t do much and only useable on systems that don`t require large overhead. Many people Linux daily as their operating system of choice to do these task and more without any problems. I`m not saying that it is a perfect OS, but neither is it the worst. I do however find that the reason for the Linux disdain is lack of games. On that note, isn`t that what Xbox is for?
nice video... I would get that ssd installed properly if I were you, although technically you can't break them you can give yourself all kinds of issues regarding wires and sometimes heat.
@ashleycox432 it should be alright. the SATA cable is the locking clip type and that SSD doesn't run hot. i've had it in laptops before. i'll probably end up getting a bracket anyhow though just for organization's sake.
That has to be a motherboard bottleneck. Maybe too much ram (then it can handle) is causeing a conflict? I've had that issue with a older thinkpad once. Or maybe its just the chipset.
That version of Linux mints boot splash screen is just black anyway so not to worry. Because there are some issues with kernel modesetting on certin videos cards .
If i remember rightly, one thing that makes Linux hang for AGES on boot is if the floppy controller is enabled in BIOS. Regardless of whether you even have a floppy - which I didn't; it still made it hang.
I like mint it could make me wanna use it alll the time.

@Cameron9242008 "if you can make it work" refers to making it work in the situation it is used in.

@Cameron9242008 i'm well aware, but linux has performed much better in a server situation rather than desktop for me.
