my strategy for this was, dodge lightning for 5-10 mins. pause. o do something non-stressful, then continue. i ended up with about 400 dodges from that method :D

Just so you know, you said that when dodging the 200 lightning bolts on the Thunder Plains, if you entered a random battle the count would reset. This is not true. I did it at the very beginning of the game to get it out of the way with, and fought several battles, but my count did not reset.

I disagree about the dodging the lightning part! cuz it does not reset your dodging point even if you encounter any monsters! It only resets after you got strike by lightning or you leave the area! so make sure you count the lightning's that you've dodge!

@Mercury515 You forgot Kihmari's one too. All of the requirements for the ultimate weapons were beyond insane. Well, Wakka's wasn't too bad. Rikku's was easy though time consuming annoying, same with Auron's. I forgot what Yuna's required but remember getting that one fairly easily. But I havn't been able to get Lulu's, Kihmari's or Tidus's to save my life.

@cnote181 oh it took hours, I ran into battles every 30 seconds but the counter didnt seem to reset because I got the crest. After the battles I had to be careful because there are instances where the lightning strikes directly after the AP screen. It was hard, but it is possible.

This task made me realize that having your PS2 hooked up through a VCR/DVD player because you can't hook it up directly to the TV causes a slight lag that, while normally undetected, makes it impossible to dodge lightning without perfect timing. I'm glad I still have my old TV hooked up in the bedroom.

i found that when you enter the north half of the Thunder Plains, there's a small patch of darker ground right at the tip of the divide between the path the the inn and the path to the south half, if you stay on/near that patch you get struck at by a lot of lightning, and it almost always strikes in twos so it takes less time.

it worked for me, great set of vids btw too.

BTW about the spot i was talking about.. you could also try the area east just after you enter thunder plains, there is like a rock there which you can step on and just wait for the lightning to come. :)

PS: i did this on my 3rd trial..

1st trial: lame onl dogged 97

2nd: almost broke my controller dogged 193

-play this game at night!! or turn of the lights!!

(the dark envt. helps you react better when lightning flashes)

-turn off the volume

(just to avoid mistakes from lightning rods, you might press X too soon and 193 dodges are gone)haha lol

-play this with a loyal friend!

(tell him to shout when he too notice the flash!) its fun! really!!! it helps a lot! :)

Its HP is about 30,000 so it's not too hard to beat. Anyway, u can use Power Break or Magic Break to weaken it. And there IS more chance for u to get NO-ENCOUNTERS weapon from him (it could be the hand-weapon for Rikku, a ball for Wakka or a blade for Tidus). And make sure that u DO NOT use OD to defeat it so that u have more chance at getting no-encounters weapon after the battle, I tried it and it worked.

Oh and for the dodging, go in circles (to the hole and out and return back), instead of going back and forth the way he did since by going in circles every time u go to the hole lightning comes right away, so u dont need to wait.

I got it in 3 tries o-O 1st try got to 13 2nd got to 76 and last 214 =D. There's one place where it's a hole and every time u approach it press x and u get a dodge. I did this method to get her Sigil. Time consuming tho, and i got confused on my counts and idk if i did 214 or 227 lol.

Buy a controller with TURBO ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and make it the X button!

Then just blue-tack or stickytape it down while facing the opposite direction of a wall. Dont be near a lightning tower.

So each time he jumps back, he doesn't move. try next to the crater next to the Cactuar stone at the start.

Leave it 15 mins come back later!

The way you know is that you count ;D... and if it hits you after you got 200 the chest will still be there because the game is regestering the dodge spree.

The only way you can know that you have 200 is to count. And as long as you manage to dodge 200 in a row, then the chest will be waiting for you outside the travel agency. Getting hit after 200 or on the way to get the chest shouldn't be a problem.
