He was the first mayhem vocalist (not counting "session"), he was the guy behind the legendary Deathcrush, has a sick vocal, he wrote some excellent and cryptic lyrics, he is twisted and have an insane performance (in his former years at least). If anything, Atilla is the one to blame, not Maniac.

What Manic is showing is that he embraces Death, self mutilation is the closest thing to becoming dead, yet still being able to continue doing it. All that pain, along with the feel of the music is intoxicating. Not, doing it to show that he's being "emotional", last I checked, I didn't see his corpse paint smearing from crying.

I think Dead suffered from depression and felt suicidal most of the time. But I don't think he cut himself on stage. I remember reading somewhere that he would tell people he felt like he was already dead and not really alive?? Poor guy needed some help.
