duane allman was way better on slide and SRV was a better single note player, duane is much harder to get his slide sound then it is to get SRV signiture single note style because you have to be so clean and mute so many strings while applying vibrato, speed, tone feel, all with this slide hanging off your finger, while SRV is a little easier to master. Both great world class players who made huge contributions to guitar
you can't compare duane and clapton.....but when I hear eric I listen more with "the head" and am amazed, but when I hear duane, it goes right to the fire of the heart and soul....poetry!....duane changed my musical life!...the only guitarist to bring tears to my eyes.....love ya, bro
That's beautiful, man. Though I feel the soul both of them put into it, personally. Man, both amazing guitarists nonetheless (one of the most needless things to say).
There are TWO slide players during the second solo. Duane's starts at :23, but who is that on slide before....????? Is is Dickey? Elvin Bishop? Jesse Ed Davis? It isn't Skydog.
yea i faintly hear that skydog67, i think its just dickey doing just some finger slides, with a slight bend. know what im saying? it slightly slounds like slide playing but its dickey, he was the only other guitar player there that night on stage.
oh naw man, clapton surely appreciated duane. they both had great respect for one another. clapton actually invited duane to play on the album cause he really admired his work. clapton hated that clapton is god crap too. he never considered himself the greatest. theres really not much bad to say about clapton my man. Rollin Stone rated him the #2 guitarist of all time . hes not underrated, but definately not overrated. he died so young man, and still left a major legacy.
clapton is a great guitarist that untalented things you say are non existent. he was a rational musician for his era and a good guitarist too. check out how he played crossroads with cream in '68. he was 23 then
Man, you are too right! I couldnt agree with you more. I hate it when people say Eric Clapton is the best guitarist ever. I dont think he even comes close to the genious that was Duane Allman.
The guy was from outer space. I think he and Hendrix and Stevie Ray all came down in the same spaceship. Maybe throw Terry Kath from the 'real' old Chicago in there also.
dickey didnt know how to slide when duane was alive he learned after duane died on a plane going to a concert
